The top ranked team in the Robinson Lady Knights faced a few challenges this past week – especially at the Capital City Classic – where they found themselves on the other end of the score – a place that is not very familiar to them. However, that doesn’t totally end the conversation about them possibly being the best team in Class 1A still as there were many other things that happened this past week as we look back on how the Top 10 fared.
1. Robinson (7-1)
Defeated two district opponents easily to start of last week in Leto (45-6) and Hillsborough (53-0), however the Capital City Classic produced some interesting results as the Knights took down FAMU with ease in a 55-0 shutout, but dropped a close game to 1A HM Lincoln, 13-6 before bouncing back to defeat 1A No. 9 Godby, 22-6
2. Fort Pierce Westwood (5-0)
Defeated Pahokee 26-0 in a district contest late in the week after having a non-district matchup against South Fork get canceled last Tuesday due to weather issues.
3. St. Petersburg Northeast (3-1)
Played only one game this past week, losing to 2A Seminole Osceola in a 6-0 decision that will likely send the Lady Vikings down in the rankings.
4. Seabreeze (5-0)
Defeated Class 2A Spruce Creek in a 12-6 decision in their only game action of the entire week.
5. Orange Park (5-1)
Had a mostly solid week by first by beating district opponent Baldwin in a 48-0 shutout at home and then won two of three games at the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee – dropping their first game to 1A No. 9 Godby 24-0, but winning the final two games against Leon (40-7) and 2A No. 4 Apopka (19-6).
6. Monsignor Pace (5-0)
Scheduled district game against Miami Carol City was canceled and at this time no rescheduled date has been set.
7. Harmony (4-0)
The Lady Longhorns defeated East River 19-0 and Edgewater 30-0 to claim two district victories and claim top spot for the district tournament later on in the month.
8. Glades Central (6-0)
The Lady Raiders defeated Wellington 19-0 and district foe Lake Placid 40-12 to remain undefeated on the season.
9. Godby (4-2)
A tough week for the Lady Cougars who dropped two of their three games at the Capital City Classic – the losses coming to 2A No. 9 Alonso, 19-0 and 1A No. 1 Robinson, 22-6 while the only win came against 1A No. 5 Orange Park, 24-0.
10. Mainland (6-0)
