South Florida Boys Basketball Regional Playoffs

This thread will serve as the "master" thread for information on the match-ups for the South Florida boys basketball teams as they navigate the regional tournaments. I will make a separate thread for the state tournaments. 

 

Dates:

 

Regional Quarterfinals: Thursday, Feb. 11 at 7 p.m.

Regional Semifinals: Tuesday, Feb. 16 at 7 p.m.

Regional Finals: Friday, Feb. 19 (5A-8A) at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Feb. 20 (2A-4A) at 7 p.m.

 

All regional quarterfinal match ups will be posted as soon as I get some final scores from tonight's district championships.

intresting matchups dont know much about okochobbee and dont know much about sebastian rivers other then abot 5 years ago we travled there to play there girls in the game for the right to go to states and they came in 31-1 and we ended up up 64-21 in the 4th q.t........and a huge riot broke out between our fans and there fans players faught players chairs was thrown it was crazy.

 

we had to get escorted out of there city we came in fan buses to so it was 1 police in front of the buses and 1 in the back lol. what a night.

Scratch that. I was right. Boyd is in. 

 

FHSAA has it wrong on their website. They put Pembroke Pines Charter instead of Boyd Anderson by mistake.

I believe there may have been some Coaching changes/resignations possibly at Cardinal Gibbons in the past year.  But yes last year they were a top 15 team in almost every national poll.  District is solid also.  Chaminade-Madonna, Calvary Christian, University and Pine Crest are all decent programs.  Gibbons finished 13 and 12 overall and 2-4 in District play this year.

Norland and Dillard should be great.  I happen to think Dillard has played a harder schedule and specifically in the last month than Norland.  What are your thoughts on the other Divisions? 7A and 8A specifically?  Do you think any South Florida teams could get hot and make some noise?  STA has to be confident right now.

In my opinion when it comes to 7A i see eaither Dwyer or St thomas making it atleast to lakeland. and whatever happens from there happens.

 

but i will say this if ely gets passed AT DWYER AND AT ST THOMAS assuming both teams win tonight then i can see ely after all this up and down getting back to lakeland and winning it. they have the pedigree and coaching to do so. but i think they fall to DWYER tonight and if they squeak out vs dwyer and have to play at STA then i wouldnt bet coming out of there with a win lol. not there.

 

8A mater academy has been impressive this year beating dillard early on and beating norland a few weeks back so i believe that when it boils down to it mataer academy or wellington will take the 8A crown.

 

and for 6A i honestly believe that if and when norland meet even though norland won the past 4 championships in 6A and basically have been running things. i truly believe dillard would beat them.

I think McArthur could be a sleeper in 7A.  They have really stepped it up the last few weeks.  An OT Loss to Dillard is impressive and Wins vs. Taravella, @ STA and Nova are a nice touch to prepare for the post-season.

And i agree with you but when i look at mcarthur and the teams they will possibly have to face after today ely dwyer STA again ely already blew out mcarthur so yes they can be a sleeper but do i see them playing in that game for a right to go to states. NO but anything can happen so we will see. should be a very entertaining playoffs.

dillard norland boyd anderson central all took carre of bussiness. tuesday should be VERRRYYYYYY intresting

 

central has lost to norland 4 TIMES.!!! THIS SEASON AND BOYD ANDERSON HAS LOST TO DILLARD 3 TIMES THIS SEASON 2 TIMES IN THE LAST MONTH IN A HALF.

 

so i believe this round right here is for who will be playing in the game to go to state because in my opinion if norland and dillard was in to sepertate classes both will be in lakeland after tuesday but unfortunately both winning next tuesday only sets up the match up that EVVVEEERRRYYYONE wants to seee and has been talking about two great teams going against each other for the right to go to state.
