It will to a extent

They will be challenged before the playoffs so will know what sta can do to them by seeing what img does

Los just thinks only good Florida teams are in broward and Dade County plus img

He dont respect any other teams as having talent

I'm pretty sure he added Trinity Christian on that list

Florida ain't a top 3 state in talent bc of 2 counties

Regardless of what los thinks other areas have good teams, they just not as stockpiled in D1 talent like other areas

And who said 2 counties only had the talent? I would say dade,Broward,Palm Beach, Orlando area, Tampa , and Duval, brevard l, and Daytona....

Is Los really wrong with his statement that he applied to Venice?

Tell us about all of the talent that Venice has on their roster.....

Enlighten us please.

How can he possibly know how playing img will affect Venice?

The only top team Venice played came in 4th round according to everyone here but had they played a challenging schedule they might been more prepared so we will find out this year if playing tougher helps Venice, wouldn't you agree?

Yeah, we'll see in November 2017....assuming they are in the post-season...As far as I'm concerned if you are undersized and a slow team overall, you are going to have problems playing most elite teams in FL. Now go watch The Karate Kid again...

this is funny

remember the crazy fan after the 46-8 STA game?

she's going to hate her life this season

can't wait for the IMG post game interview, watch out coach!

Remember her well.....

How could we forget her....She was the most fierce and intense person that night representing Venice football....

So fierce I think she may want to even suit up at MLB for STA in the future....

I don't think she would ever play for St Thomas unless she is Benedict Arnold personified.

Last year the team did well until the STA game. Until then the games that were on the schedule were thought to be good tests. It just didn't turn out that way.

Lakeland in the spring game 14-13 loss

Plant in the KOC win 38-25

Camden County turned out to be a dud

Manatee who typically is good win 42-7

Braden River 1st time win 42-35

Braden River 2nd time win 64-42

The toughest part of our schdeule was and still is the weak district we have to play. Team like Palmetto who was pretty good has not made the playoffs because of Braden River and Venice. We are not and will not be on the level of STA and the likes of IMG. Its just not going to happen. Do we have good players sure, but we don't fill out a team of monsters or athletes that will wow anyone.

Long story short is why not try to schedule opponents who are like the team you need to try to compete with. Do we match up well with IMG, NO. We didn't match up well with STA but tried to take a good positive attitude into that game. Just didn't work out on our end.

Looks like coach is trying to schedule teams that would help prepare the team. Booker T Washington game couldn't happen. In that game it would be the same.

Continue to do the same things and expect the same results.

Every team in Manatee County usually plays very well during the year until they play STA.

STA is an elite team with very good athletes year in and year out.

Manatee got lucky one year at home with a solid defense that helped them take down the beast.

If there were five more minutes on the clock, that game might have turned out different as STA just ran out of time.

Look at the other five times Manatee played STA.

Loses and most of them significant loses other than the 2OT loss down in FTL which was the result of CJK's terrible late play calling.

It's very hard to compete with the level of talent those schools have in the area especially STA.

Not a chance Venice will ever beat STA IMHO.

Manatee in those days was at a much higher level than any venice team since they won it in 2000 (year?)   I wouldn't say Manatee got lucky either, they played hard.   That was a VERY good STA team they beat.

I agree Manatee was way better then what Venice ever brought to the table last year.. Manatee beat Central, University School when they were elite and almost beat Bosco

    • Perhaps the best RB in Tampa Bay iin 2023 saw his program close, and is looking for a home. If he stays in the area,Venice is a good bet. (Lakeland may be as well).
    • And if that same newsletter asked the Osceola County Sheriff Department, what do you think the response would be? If you asked, members of the Chamber of Commerce? (Essentially a union of businesses) If you asked a group of nurses? If you asked a group of lawyers? Also a union cares about the working conditions of their members, but the working conditions of teachers are the learning conditions of students as well. People are attracted to careers because of the values that come with those careers. Political Parties attract people based on their values. So it shouldn't be surprising that certain professions attract certain people in certain careers. You act as if the principal's first question when we have a 5,000+ teachers shortage in this state is "who do you vote for? And are you a member of the union?"
    • I feel like y'all are always solid so I don't see y'all going no worse than 7-3. Biggest question mark for Cocoa is their O-line since they are only returning 1 and on the defensive side they only return their blue chip edge in their front 7
    • Coach Wiseman, let me just preface this by saying that you were the best HC Sarasota's program has had in the last 20+ years. You brought them from being a perpetual losing program to the doorstep of competing with Venice for a district title and a deep playoff run. SHS will curse the day they fired you now that they are back in a rut. You are a true class act, and nothing will ever convince me otherwise.  Our backfield is certainly sparse right now. We do have Dorian Jones, a rising sophomore runningback whom did considerably well considering his limited playing time last season. Our offense will need an overhaul with the graduation of 3 offensive linemen and almost our entire receiving corps. Our defensive line will be strong with the return of Ke'shawn Vaughn, Elijah Jones, and Asharri Charles. Our linebacking corps graduates virtually everybody but should have at least one bright spot with the return of Ben Zarkawiecz. Our defensive backfield is still a work in progress with the graduation of Lester and Platt. At the moment, we have more question marks than exclamation points. And that's not a good feeling with the kind of competition Venice is going to face.
    • It's possible that they find their stride by week 5, but at the moment we just don't have the on-paper talent to compete with teams like Miami NW, IMG National, Cocoa, or Bishop Verot. If Venice can find a way to go 7-3 with that schedule I would be happy
