TOP 25 ANALYSIS – AFTER WEEK 2

THE BIG PICTURE

Robinson and Alonso remain the Tampa Bay region’s top two programs and hold their positions at No. 1 and No. 2 heading into Week 4 — both now 5-0, both with ratings that continue to rank among the very highest in the state. The week’s defining story below the top two is the She Is Football Invitational Tournament in Tampa, held in association with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation at the AdventHealth Training Facility at One Buccaneer Place. Lennard went 3-0 at the tournament to vault two spots to No. 5, while Steinbrenner went 2-2 across their full week and drops nine spots to No. 12. The Capital City Classic also reshuffled the standings: Osceola went 3-0 at the Silver bracket in Tallahassee and jumps 10 spots to No. 3, the week’s largest rise. Land O Lakes went 3-1 at the Gold bracket and moves up two spots to No. 4. Four teams drop out entirely — Haines City, Newsome, Sumner, and Keswick Christian — replaced by Countryside, Palm Harbor University, Tampa Prep, and Lakeland.

No. 1 Robinson — Knights Stay Perfect at 5-0 After Statement Win Over Strawberry Crest

Robinson had one game this week — a 32-6 win over Strawberry Crest on Wednesday — and it was exactly the kind of performance the region’s top program is expected to deliver. The Chargers entered that game at 4-2 with one of the upper-tier schedules in the Tampa Bay region and had been one of the more credentialed programs in the top 25. Robinson beat them by 26 points. The Knights are now 5-0 and have not been seriously challenged in any game this season — their closest result remains the 27-13 win over Lennard in Week 1, which looks better every week as the Longhorns continue to rise in the standings. Robinson is the No. 1 program in the Tampa Bay region, the No. 1 program in the state, and is pursuing their 10th consecutive state championship. Nothing from Week 3 changes any of that.

No. 2 Alonso — Ravens Stay Perfect at 5-0 After Dominant Win Over Bloomingdale

Alonso had one game this week — a 41-0 shutout of Bloomingdale on Tuesday — and holds at No. 2 with their rating now at 72.89. The Bloomingdale result is more significant than the opponent’s record suggests: the Valrico program carries one of the strongest schedule strength figures in the entire Tampa Bay region, having played Robinson, Alonso, Lennard, and other elite competition through the first three weeks. Alonso held them scoreless by 41. The Ravens are 5-0 with a point differential of plus-97 across five games and their SOS of 28.99 reflects a schedule that has included credible opposition. Robinson and Alonso have now both reached 5-0 and the gap between them and the rest of the Tampa Bay region has not narrowed. When — or whether — those two programs meet will be the defining question of the Tampa Bay region’s regular season.

No. 3 Osceola — Warriors Jump 10 Spots to No. 3 After Going 4-0 Including 3-0 at Capital City Classic Silver

Osceola had the Tampa Bay region’s most productive week — going 4-0 to reach 6-0 and jumping 10 spots to No. 3. The Warriors opened by beating Boca Ciega 6-0 on Tuesday in what was the week’s most anticipated in-region matchup, then traveled to Tallahassee for the Capital City Classic Silver bracket and went 3-0 against Panhandle and North Florida competition. At the Classic the Warriors beat Lincoln 32-26 on Friday before a big Saturday that produced wins over Godby 41-7 and FAMU 39-12. Four games, four wins, including a shutout of the region’s previously unbeaten No. 14 program and three wins against out-of-region opponents at a cross-region tournament. The 6-0 Boca Ciega shutout is the most analytically significant result of Osceola’s week — it directly answered the central question about the Pirates’ standing. Their SOS of 24.57 has grown substantially from the 38.91 they carried last week, reflecting the addition of cross-region Capital City Classic competition.

THE BIG PICTURE

The Tampa Bay region is the deepest and most competitive region in the state through two weeks, and the rankings reflect it. Robinson and Alonso sit atop the statewide rankings at No. 1 and No. 2 overall — not just in the region, not just in their classification, but among every program in Florida. Below that elite tier, the separation between teams is razor thin and the storylines are plentiful. Boca Ciega’s 5-0 start has been one of the most remarkable performances of any program anywhere in the state. Plant has lost twice to the top two teams in the state and is still a program that cannot be taken lightly. And a canceled matchup between Robinson and Citrus due to thunderstorms left one of the region’s most anticipated results unplayed heading into Week 3. With 104 programs in the Tampa Bay region, the competition is relentless — and this week’s schedule ensures the sorting process continues at full speed.

No. 1 Robinson — Knights Are Chasing History While Rewriting It

There is context that needs to be stated before anything else about Robinson: the Knights are pursuing their 10th consecutive state championship this season, making them the most dominant flag football program in the history of the sport in Florida. That standard shapes everything about how their results are evaluated. The Knights beat Lennard 27-13 in Week 1 — a program in the upper tier of the regional standings with one of the toughest schedules in the state — then returned in Week 2 with wins over Plant 25-15, Forest 20-0, and Belleview 26-6. The Plant win carries enormous regional weight, and the Belleview result — a 26-6 win over North Central Florida’s most battle-tested program — provides genuine cross-region validation. Their schedule strength figure of 43.03 ranks 55th statewide, firmly in the upper tier of all Florida programs. The Robinson-Citrus matchup last Friday was canceled due to thunderstorms in the area — a game that will simply go unplayed. Wednesday brings Strawberry Crest — a 4-2 upper-tier program — in what will be the most significant test of Robinson’s Week 3.

No. 2 Alonso — Ravens’ Four-Win Start Includes One of the Week’s Gutsiest Results

Alonso arrived in Week 2 and produced one of the most impressive individual weeks of any program in the state. The Ravens beat Sickles 34-0 on Feb. 26, then survived a 14-13 thriller against Fort Pierce Central — a program in the upper tier statewide — before closing with a 27-19 win over Spanish River on Feb. 28. Their Week 1 win over Plant 19-6, combined with that Fort Pierce Central result, gives Alonso a body of work that holds up against nearly any program in Florida. Their schedule strength figure of 46.05 ranks 44th statewide. Tuesday brings Bloomingdale — a lower-tier regional program at 0-4 but with a schedule strength figure of 52.95 ranking 7th statewide, meaning the Valrico program has played genuinely elite competition and competed hard in every game. Alonso needs to treat that game with the respect it deserves — which they will.

No. 3 Steinbrenner — Warriors’ Three-Game Sweep Includes a Statement Shutout

Steinbrenner’s path to third in the Tampa Bay region has been built on suffocating defense and efficient offense. The Warriors beat Newsome 13-7 in Week 1 — a result that looks increasingly significant given Newsome’s standing in the regional top 10 — then returned in Week 2 with a 21-0 shutout of Riverview and a 54-0 demolition of Gaither. Their schedule strength figure of 15.33 ranks 296th statewide, toward the lower end of the middle tier, which is the primary caveat to an otherwise dominant early-season resume. Tuesday brings Sickles — a middle-tier regional program at 2-1 — before Friday delivers the Warriors’ first genuine cross-region measuring-stick opportunity at the She Is Football Tournament at the AdventHealth Training Facility at One Buccaneer Place in Tampa in association with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Foundation, where Steinbrenner faces Central Florida’s Harmony. Both results this week will go a long way toward answering whether Steinbrenner belongs in conversation with the region’s top two.

Paige Halverson threw four touchdown passes and Sarah Williams caught three of them as Robinson improved to 2-0 with a 25-15 victory over Plant Monday in Tampa. Freshman Ayden Klaiber intercepted two passes for the Knights. Reese Pittman completed 31-of-41 passes for 247 yards for Plant, which fell to 0-2.

The Patriots faced a tough outing to start the season at home coming up with the one point victory to start of the season 1-0.

No. 10 Miami Palmetto 19, True North (Miami) 6

Fernanda Moreno threw for 71 yards and a touchdown and also caught a pass as Palmetto improved to 2-0 with a 19-6 victory over True North Classical Academy Monday in Miami. Giselle Felix and Samantha Hernandez each had touchdown receptions for the Panthers. Takayla Strowbridge and Hernandez each intercepted a pass defensively. True North fell to 0-1.

No. 15 St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) 27, West Broward (Pembroke Pines) 0

The Raiders bounced back from their season-opening loss to even things out to 1-1 on the season with a shutout over the Bobcats.

No. 17 Steinbrenner (Lutz) 21, Riverview (Riverview) 0

Megan Medina completed 12-of-19 passes for 73 yards and two touchdowns and added a rushing score as Steinbrenner shut out Riverview 21-0 Monday to improve to 2-0. Freshman Cecilia Leon caught six passes for 38 yards and both of Medina’s touchdown passes. Sydney Roder also saw time at quarterback for the Warriors. Riverview fell to 0-2.

The Blue Darters bounched back from their season opening loss to Dr. Phillips with a touchdown score to win it against the Trojans at home to move to 1-1 on the season.

In the second of three games for the inagural Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic, the Hawks pitched the shutout on the Cobras to move them to 3-0.

In the Championship game for the Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic in the JDHC Bracket, the Hawks completley trounced over the Eagles to move to 4-0 on the season.

The defending Class 1A state champions finally got their season started by beating the Gladiators in a Saturday morning tilt.

In the second of three games for the inagural Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic, the Wildcats took down the Bengals in a battle of the cats to move the record to 2-0 on the season.

For the Championship game in the Dave & Buster’s Bracket of the inagural Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic, the Wildcats scratched by the upstart Cougars to move to 3-0 on the season.

In the third place game of the JDHC Bracket at inagural Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic, the Cobras bounced back from their loss to Seminole Ridge to move to 3-1 on the season.

Western won their first game in the Dave & Buster’s bracket at the Broward County Girls Flag Football Classic on Friday afternoon, pitching the shutout against the Mavericks. Wildcats move to 1-0 on the season.

The No. 1 team in the FLORIDA POWER 25 started off the season on top with a victory over the Longhorns. The Knights are now 1-0 while Lennard drops to 1-1 on the season.

The Broncos pitched a shutout to open up the 2026 season as they look to get back to Tampa again in May.

Apopka took one on the chin to start off the 2026 season as the team is being led by new quarterbascks and a young group of athletes and fought hard to the end in the shutout out loss, according to a post on the Apopka Flag Football Instagram account.

No. 2 Alonso defeated Plant, 19-6, in the Ravens’ season opener behind a standout performance from wide receiver Juliet Gambino, who was named the varsity Player of the Game. Gambino hauled in three receptions for 48 yards and a touchdown while also adding an interception on the defensive side of the ball. Alonso will have a week off before returning to action against Sickles on Feb. 26.

No. 9 Fort Pierce Central blanked Centennial, 37-0, in its season opener behind a big night from sophomore quarterback Kailee Grone. Click here to read more.

Elizondo, a senior quarterback, completed 2-of-6 passes while also contributing on the ground, rushing four times for 24 yards.

Grace Valenzuela was the standout performer in the receiving corps, hauling in six catches for 90 yards, including a long of 55. Makiya Bradford added three receptions for 28 yards, while Hope Hensley caught three passes for 36 yards. Makenzie Walker contributed four receptions for 42 yards, and Finley Oliszewski rounded out the passing attack with three catches for 16 yards.

Mackenzie Collins contributed on both sides of the ball, rushing twice for seven yards while adding two receptions for 12 yards.

Lennard’s defense was equally dominant, holding St. Petersburg scoreless on the night. Jordyn Colvenbach led the secondary with an interception and two pass deflections. Desirae Marano, Stacey Reducindo, and Kaya Bonner-Rivera each recorded a pass deflection as the Longhorns finished with five total.

Lennard, ranked No. 10 in the Florida Power 25, opens the season at 1-0. St. Petersburg falls to 0-1.

LUTZ, Fla. — A balanced passing attack and a timely defensive performance lifted No. 19 Steinbrenner past Newsome, 13-7, on Tuesday.

The Warriors used a two-quarterback system to keep the Wolves’ defense guessing. Megan Medina completed 9-of-13 attempts for 91 yards and a touchdown, while Sydney Roder connected on 9-of-15 for 85 yards and a score.

Cecilia Leon was Steinbrenner’s most active receiver, hauling in six catches for 61 yards. Leah Myers added four receptions for 26 yards and a touchdown, and Jenna Golubeff hauled in one catch for 20 yards and a score. Kathryn Williams chipped in three receptions for 35 yards, Ariana Castro contributed one catch for 17 yards, and Sienna Neylan added one grab for 10 yards.

On the ground, Medina carried six times for 33 yards, and Golubeff added two carries for 17 yards.

Defensively, Leon was a standout for Steinbrenner, recording two interceptions for five return yards and a pass deflection. Golubeff added a pass deflection of her own. Myers was also effective in the punting game, averaging 36 yards on two attempts with a long of 41.

For Newsome, senior quarterback Sadie Avery completed 14-of-21 attempts for 143 yards and a touchdown, keeping the Wolves competitive throughout. Mia Dolan was Newsome’s top target with four receptions for 53 yards and a touchdown, while senior Emma Cleary hauled in five catches for 42 yards. Jayden Elbanna added four receptions for 32 yards and Kensley Hiscock contributed one grab for nine yards.

Avery provided a bright spot defensively as well, recording an interception that she returned seven yards. Dolan led the secondary with two pass deflections. Avery Sanchez applied consistent pressure on the Steinbrenner quarterbacks, recording three QB hurries, while Hailey Winacott and Avery each added one.

Teams can reach the playoffs by winning their district tournament OR qualifying as an at-large selection based on their overall performance. Our odds calculator accounts for both paths – district champions and at-large qualifiers – as teams navigate through regional rounds to the state finals.

Here are the Top 15 teams with the best shot at hoisting a state championship trophy in 2026:

1. Robinson (Tampa)

Classification: Class 2A
Region: Tampa Bay
State Championship Probability: 33.6%

Quick Thoughts: It is no surprise that the Knights lead things off in the FPRI probability rankings. They have won nine straight state championships and 10 titles overall as a program. A 10th consecutive state championship is well within reach this season as they aim to repeat as Class 2A state champions.

T2. Miami Edison

Classification: Class 1A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 33.0%

Quick Thoughts: The Red Raiders won Class 1A in the final seconds of the 2025 State Championships at the AdventHealth Training Center last May, giving them their first state title in program history. The chances of repeating are high to start the season.

T2. Wildwood

Classification: Class 1A
Region: North Central Florida
State Championship Probability: 33.0%

Quick Thoughts: The team that had the Class 1A state championship snatched away in the final seconds – the Wildcats’ probability is the same as the team that beat them last May in Tampa. Given that most of the team is composed of players from Wildwood’s strong girls basketball team, you can see why they have quickly risen through the flag football ranks.

4. Seminole Ridge (Westlake)

Classification: Class 3A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 32.8%

Quick Thoughts: The Hawks finally won their first state championship in nearly a decade after being a perennial powerhouse in the not-too-distant past. With the four-classification structure now in Florida flag football, the Hawks could be starting a new dynasty.

5. Alonso (Tampa)

Classification: Class 4A
Region: Tampa Bay
State Championship Probability: 32.5%

Quick Thoughts: The Ravens pulled it off in a tightly contested Class 4A state championship game last year against Wellington – one that didn’t seem that way at first – and the Ravens have a lot of history and triumphs – and letdowns – through the years. With Class 4A being the most wide-open classification, the odds are very favorable in the preseason for the Ravens to repeat as state champions – but it will take navigation through an ultra-competitive region to get there again.

6. Homestead

Classification: Class 3A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 23.4%

Quick Thoughts: The probability percentage drops quickly after the top five, and if anyone is paying attention, the landscape in Class 3A-Region 4 is highly competitive. The Broncos, who were one of the later teams to emerge in Miami-Dade County, have made a name for themselves in recent years. The Broncos would love nothing more than to get back to Tampa to erase last season’s semifinal loss.

7. Wellington

Classification: Class 4A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 23.0%

Quick Thoughts: In a tightly contested Class 4A state championship – one in which Wellington suffered a heartbreaking loss – the Wolverines are back in the probability rankings again in 2026 for winning the Class 4A state championship, but not as high as the team that beat them last May.

8. Pace

Classification: Class 3A
Region: Panhandle
State Championship Probability: 21.7%

Quick Thoughts: The Patriots have become one of the top-rated teams in the Panhandle, so it is no surprise that they are in the conversation in recent years for a run at a state championship. However, as last year showed, other teams emerged as contenders, keeping Pace from reaching Tampa.

9. Western (Davie)

Classification: Class 4A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 20.2%

Quick Thoughts: The Wildcats haven’t won a state championship in several years, but you will always see their name in the mix. With the eighth-best probability in the preseason, they have a chance once more to hoist a state championship trophy in the state’s most wide-open classification in flag football.

10. Fort Pierce Central

Classification: Class 4A
Region: Space & Treasure Coast
State Championship Probability: 19.9%

Quick Thoughts: Having quickly risen over the last few years to become one of the top teams in the Space & Treasure Coast region, the Cobras have entrenched themselves in deep playoff runs. However, a trip to Tampa would be nice to get a bigger taste of the state championship tournament.

11. Lennard (Ruskin)

Classification: Class 4A
Region: Tampa Bay
State Championship Probability: 18.1%

Quick Thoughts: The Longhorns were close to winning their first state championship in 2024, and now the goal is to capture their first state championship. However, navigating a wide-open Class 4A along with an ultra-competitive landscape in Tampa Bay means the challenges are set for 2026.

12. Choctawhatchee (Fort Walton Beach)

Classification: Class 2A
Region: Panhandle
State Championship Probability: 18.3%

Quick Thoughts: Before anyone comes after us – if the Indians were in any classification other than Class 2A, this probability would be above 20%. Why? When you have the most dominant team in the state in terms of state championships – one that has won nine straight – then you understand why there is a gulf between Robinson and everyone else. Still, the chances for Choctawhatchee are there.

13. Somerset Canyons (Boynton Beach)

Classification: Class 1A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 18.1%

Quick Thoughts: The Cougars have been one of the up-and-coming teams in South Florida and reached the state semifinals last year with a trip to Tampa to get a taste of what a state championship environment is like. Now the goal is to win it all, and their probability to start 2026 is strong.

14. Miami Palmetto

Classification: Class 4A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 18.0%

Quick Thoughts: Almost two seasons removed since winning their first state championship in program history, the Panthers would love to run it back and get a second state championship. Of course, defending Class 4A state champion Alonso stood in the way of that last year, and as we have stressed, Class 4A is the most wide-open classification in the state, so no surprise another Class 4A team is in the Top 15 in the probability rankings.

T15. Chiles (Tallahassee)

Classification: Class 3A
Region: Panhandle
State Championship Probability: 18.0%

Quick Thoughts: The Timberwolves tasted the state title game last year and now they know what it takes to get there and the odds are looking pretty good for them to make a run again, but can they do what they did last year and upset another team in their region again to get there?

T15. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale)

Classification: Class 3A
Region: South Florida
State Championship Probability: 18.0%

Quick Thoughts: The Raiders haven’t been in the flag football game as long as some of the other teams mentioned on this list, but you bet they are working towards winning a trophy to match at least their tackle counterparts. However, the depth of the Class 3A field is pretty strong and will have to navigate past several strong contenders to get to the top.
