  2. The depth chart thing is more of a procedural move. They'd do the same thing if Big Ben was holding out. It's just paperwork. Me personally? I'd offer him a multi-year deal. Bell is a game-changer. Any RB can get the job done be he can change games. I think you'd have to pay him and lock him up. If he doesn't want to sign a deal, you have to trade him so he doesn't walk away for nothing.

  4. Gotta love NoleBull. My rankings have STA at 13 and Bloomingdale at 15. Must be something wrong with him. I can explain my rankings until I’m chemo’d out but he does not get the concept of Retrodictive Rankings and Schedule Connectivity. It is Interesting though that Joe Pinkos also has Bloomingdale in the Top 20. So that tells me I’m in the ballpark thru this point in the season. Also, for what it’s worth, there are 228 in state games this week and Joe and I have the same selections for 214 of them. More importantly, I’m on the mend and ready for some football and ranking debates.

  8. The thing is STA might be loaded at positions but it don’t be the best of the best players... To me the edge that the Dade kids have is they don’t see the star rated crap... to them the feel like they all are 5 stars even tho it don’t show on paper... Theve been like that since Lil league... STA has does type of players too , all of sfla is like that imo...

  9. Their not unbeatable and when they do play teams that’s even got half the talent (on paper) it would be a dawg fight or a possible lost... Schools like MC , Deerfield , Miramar, MNW Booker T and others look to playing STA cause they get that praise and plus they not scared of STA... A lot of schools not scared of them I would say down here .. As the past few loses they sufferd was the enept offense qb play they have been getting n tomorrow night the best qb on the field is gonna be on the MC side..

  11. Zoe Boy, my comment to Panther earlier was simply to demonstrate that not all Dade teams just throw the ball up with a prayer and rely upon athleticism to catch it. As an example, one of my favorite games of the modern era was the BTW vs Armwood state semi in 2004, which I attended at Armwood. BTW had very good athletes and they also had a coach at the time (Ice Harris) who figured out how to use them most effectively. Washington was still pretty new on the FL playoff scene and Harris introduced a game plan that was very calculated...and exciting to watch. It was a coaching duel between two great coaches...Callahan and Harris. That Armwood team was incredible. Their defense was lights out...very physical and pretty fast for the time. Washington was the only one to get close to them in the playoff that year and should have beat them. Even with the fantastic athletes Washington had then, they were not going to "outathlete" that Armwood defense. Washington had a very balanced attack and a great game plan that allowed them to nearly win that game. So, yes south FL has some extraordinary athletes, but over the years they have also had extraordinary coaches, too. And I think coaching is going to become even more important today because with the rise of the Orlando area teams, Miami teams are not going to simply blow them away with speed and athleticism.

  12. Then idk what your talking about cause it’s not bombs after bombs after bombs.. They run a route tree like every school those... They wouldn’t be no 1000 yard backs in Dade County if they do that... Don’t mistake catch and run for bombs all the time.. I tell you i see more bubble screens then “BOMBS”....

  16. IMG at Mater Dei preview https://www.ocregister.com/2018/09/17/at-first-glance-img-academy-vs-mater-dei-football-breakdown/ IMG players to watch: Defensive end Nolan Smith (6-3, 242), Georgia commit, No. 2 overall recruit in the nation, according to 247Sports. Senior has 4.5 sacks … Uncommitted running back Trey Sanders (6-0, 214). Third on the team in rushing — behind two seniors – with 101 yards and one TD. Quarterback David Baldwin, a standout last season at Upland, leads IMG with 290 yards on 30 carries. … Wide receiver Josh Delgado, a former playmaker at St. John Bosco. Mater Dei players to watch: Uncommitted defensive end/wide receiver Bru McCoy, five sacks, six TD catches …. USC committed junior quarterback Bryce Young, 16 for 16 passing in last game, 927 yards, 12 TDs, three INT. … Cornerback Elias Ricks, one of the top juniors in the country. … Left tackle Myles Murao, another top junior in the nation. Rested teams: Both teams are coming off a bye week. IMG didn’t play St. John’s last week because of Hurricane Florence. The Monarchs had a scheduled bye.

  17. That Pensacola Washington team had Soph Derrick Brooks. Manatee went up to Pensacola Washington and annihilated them 40-12 for that semi-final game with Chris Bilkie and Kevin Freeman..(both went on to play for the University of Florida) leading the way via Manatee's dominating rushing attack, that also had Patrick McNeal OL ( went on to play and start for FSU). I believe 1989 was the 1st year the FHSAA required the championship games be played at a neutral site......in this case Daytona Beach. I have video of the Pine Forrest 87 & 88 state championship games as well as the 89 Manatee state championship win over Carol City in 89.

  19. Laz does not have enough connectivity points to properly include out of state teams since they, by definition, don't play enough Florida teams over the space of the most recent seasons.

  21. Yeah Xavier, as a young runner on the youth league summer track circuit really was a "Peewee." By freshman year of high school his muscled up body was undeniable. Saw him win individual state championships all four years at Palm Bay. Rumors were always there about his manly growth spurt.

  22. It's not like STA isn't relying on athletes either If they had a elite coaching staff they wouldn't have lost to 3 publics last year with as much d1 talent on that roster If dade don't have good coaching then neither does STA

  23. I can explain. When I first began doing the rankings years ago, I kept a “stabilizer” in for half the season which prevented exactly the problem you’re bitching about. However, I got a lot of flack about that because every year some perennial powerhouses would have down years and the computer had a tendency to rank them way too high until half way through the season. As a result, I removed the stabilizer and each team now basically starts from scratch. So now at the beginning of the year, the computer doesn’t know if Interlachen is better than Miami Central. It simply adjusts as the season plays out. I suggest you stick to “polls” because no matter what, my computer will not make you happy until playoff time....if that.

  24. A lot of ranking systems do exactly that. Peter Wolfe formerly part of the BCS equation used to wait until October before publishing his rankings. Even the current college playoff committee doesn’t release their first top 25 poll until several weeks into the season. I could wait but the majority of the feedback I get (other than yours) is that people like to see how the season evolves. We both know that Bloomingdale doesn’t belong where the computer has them but they are off to a tremendous start and it will be interesting to see where they end up.

  25. I don’t think they are bad though either. Dematha went to Imhotep and beat them by much more than SJR did from Jersey. (team that was basically even with AHP)

  26. What do you mean chill? All I wanted was an explanation of why the rankings were so bad. At the time I posted the thread Bloomingdale was ahead of STA. Anyone with half a brain would know that is preposterous and asinine. Anyone who has ever followed football at any level would know that would never happen in a million years. It was such a glaring error, I wanted to know what the explanation was to have came up with this result. Because any computer algorithm that would process that is defective and needs a complete overhaul

  27. Just talked to LAZ everyone... he will be getting back on track soon, so NoleBull, please chill out!

  28. nolebull just likes to bitch about rankings. Last year he bitched about Wekiva and Winter Park being in mine early in the season now he's bitching WP isn't high enough. He does have a great point about Bloomingdale but its a computer ranking. Also Laz doesn't include out of state teams which is currently hurting STA. Also look at IMG at 11. Only one team in Florida can beat IMG and that's Columbia.

  29. I was telling a friend of mine that the reason Glades Central was good in the 1990s there wasn't a lot of transfer no Facebook or Twitter most importantly there was no new High Schools being bulit at the time. A lot of talent stay in Glades Central now times definitely changed new High Schools are built families moving from the Muck etc etc

He's rubbing off! Ahhhhhh!!!!! Actually, Northeast went from scoring 0, to 26 to 40. That's improvement, right? For the record, I'm picking CCC by 40. Northeast is not a good team!
