  3. The 2013 BTW offense was not the most intimidating from a size perspective. And they did not necessarily have any marquis names at the time. They were led by 4-star dual threat qb Treon Harris, son of coaching legend Ice Harris. Treon was only 5'11. And his wide receivers were undersized by today's standards. But what they lacked in size, they made up for in speed and elusiveness. This offense was flat out difficult to stop and had so many weapons that could beat you. Future Canes star Mark Walton was an underclassman on this team. BTW ended the season 14-0 and ranked as one of the top hs team in the country. Below are some highlights of their game against Norcross, GA. Below are some highlights from their game against Norcross.

  4. And my selection for best offense of the 2010's...the 2013 Booker T Washington squad. Why the 2013 Booker T Washington squad? Beat nationally ranked, defending 6A Georgia state champion Norcross 55-0 in Georgia. Norcross won the title in 2013, as well. Gave nationally ranked and 6A state champion Miami Central its only loss of the season, scoring 28 points against the Rockets. Beat Carol City 45-0. No, this was not one of CC's great teams, but anyone who puts up 45 points on a CC defense is impressive. Traveled to Nevada and beat national powerhouse Bishop Gorman, scoring 28 points. Scored 40 or more points in each of its playoff games. Blew out defending 3A state champion University School at U School's home field in the playoffs, scoring 45 points. Went up 35-0 at the half versus Cocoa in the state semi and cruised to a 49-10 win. In the state final, BTW went up 34-6 over Bolles about 1 minute into the second half and took their foot off the gas, ending up with 40 points.

  5. Here's how my schedule strength rankings stack up for the 5A-8A teams still alive in the FHSAA playoffs. Let's see if it makes a difference. Especially for the undefeated and one loss schools with the weaker schedules thus far. 5A In Class State American Heritage 2 4 Rickards 8 74 Jesuit 13 101 Dunnellon 40 269 6A Miami Central 1 15 Palmetto 13 85 St. Augustine 15 89 Lake Minneola 44 191 7A St. Thomas Aquinas 1 3 Edgewater 2 5 Bloomingdale 19 72 Niceville 26 111 8A Apopka 4 16 Seminole 5 18 Miami Palmetto 6 19 Osceola 23 148

  6. Doh! You're right! 2005 was an AMAZING team. Them, 2006 MNW, and 2008 STA were monsters. Would have loved to see it all happen in the same class in the same year : )

  7. Understand Josh, and I agree people should not be presenting false claims without facts. However I would caution against overreacting. STA fans and parents havr threatened to sue many a websites going all the way back to Floridakids.net ran by Larry Bluestein back in the day. They feel they can move their weight around unchecked However none of this has ever came to fruition.... Also I have proof of what I just said. DO NOT let them bully and threatened you. I agree moderation is needed for false claims but you are at no danger of legal action... I have a attorney on stand by that will eat their lunch if they even tried to censor you or your site in the name of free speech. Call me if you want to discuss but again I advise against overreacting.... I've been in this game 22 years and seen alot.

  10. I would say more than slightly, TJ Johnson started at RB transfer from Viera. Stud won game against Viera by himself. Very under-rated. They also got starter DE Julius Barfield , D1 talent, from Viera. Never really bought in to Barfield as he takes way too many plays off. Nine starters left Viera this summer when I believe coaching staff decided to change culture. Lots of malcontents hit the road, sadly their talent went with them. Coaches thought team played much better and together but lost most of their top talent, and it does take talent to play at the top levels. Along with those Eau Gallie guys- Housey twins(starters at CB,WR)went with Bryce Norton to Rockledge. Bad move when your team leader leaves but Norton didn't even start this year at QB for Rockledge, waste of talent. Another huge loss for Viera was WR Davis Mallinger who starred for Cocoa this year. Lots of talent mentioned here spread out to the three top teams in the county. At Viera this would of been a very talented and Senior laden team that would of given Edgewater a respectable game. Viera has been getting used to developing local talent, never relied on transfers, but took a big step back this season with all those that transferred out. Viera was right there with Cocoa until last season, now Rockledge is clearly a step above them also. Looks like they are trending in the wrong direction.

  13. Kinnan and Castle have been known as film and scheme geeks. Manatee has had a few teams that seemed prone to winning shootouts, whereas Lakeland's best teams have been strong on defense. But both coaches put in a ton of time preparing, and it shows.

  18. Lakeland and Manatee are the only teams that I called out more than once. That speaks volumes(at least in my mind) for the quality of their programs over the years. Keep in mind that many of the powerhouse teams of today only came on line within the past 20 years. Lakeland and Manatee have been contenders for the past 4 decades. Can you say "longevity!"
