  2. Yes that is very true. I can remember when Wakulla won in 1980 and 1981 their toughest game was always against a north Florida team that they would meet in the first round of the playoffs. Back in those days only the district champion advanced to the playoffs and state championships were played on campus. Two years in a row Wakulla had to travel. One year they played at Clermont and the next year at Clewiston. They won both games pretty easily. One of the best games I remember from that era was in 1981. Wakulla played Bolles in the semifinals. Bolles had talked a lot of trash the week leading up to that game. They did not expect to get beat and Wakulla blasted them 38-0. Wakulla had a great team that year. They had 8 shutouts heading into that game with Bolles. They shut them out and then shut out Clewiston 24-0 in the state championship to finish the season with 10 shutouts. Thinking back on it...that was pretty impressive. I don't know what the answer is but I do wish something could be done about all of the transferring. It's going to ruin high school football. It's definitely not just private schools. In a lot of cases you end up playing against an all star team from a metro area where probably over half of the kids on that team would be attending a different high school if they based it on where the kids actually live.

  3. Hey @Jesse I miss the old rivalry between Wakulla and Blountstown. You're too young to remember but those were some great games back in the mid 70's and early 80's. Blountstown was a powerhouse. Both teams won state championships during those era's. Jefferson County had some great teams in the early 80's when the Massey brothers were carrying the ball.

  4. That is absolutely mind boggling...the one thing that keeps me hopeful for us is that there just isn't that much available land space to develop in Wakulla. When you look at a map the vast majority of the county is national forest. US 319 is the main corridor coming from Tallahassee. That is pretty much the main area that can be developed....and boy oh boy that will become a huge mess if it isn't developed properly.

  5. It will be in the northern part of the county close to the Leon County line. There is a lot of growth in that area. They have two elementary schools and a middle school in that area. I'm pretty sure they already have the property set aside for the new high school as well. I'm just hoping it takes a long time to get to that 2,000 student threshold. Yes the two titles they won were back when they were in 2A. In today's world that would equate to 1A. All of those teams they played are still about the same size today and are playing in the 1A class.

  6. I asked a question and you answered it. Now I'm having a conversation with hornetfan. It is rude for you to keep interrupting us. Respect your elders.

  7. Could you see a repeat of the 2019 State Game Jones/Northwestern

  8. Jones moving up to 6A is a gift to 5A teams hoping to go deep in the playoffs. I expect that Jones will be a force this year in 6A. If I'm not mistaken, Lake Minneola doesn't have the stud QB transfer back this year. This will be a tough District for any school not named Jones HS.

  9. Jesuit went 14-1 last season, losing a heart-breaker to American Heritage 16-13 in the State Semi-finals. The Tigers return their top WR's, including Junior Vandeross, who just committed to play college ball at Toledo. Kid had 11 catches for 242 yards and 2 TD's in the Regional finals game against Jones. Jesuit's top RB, Joquez Smith also returns. He rushed for 1226 yards and 18 TD's last year. They also bring back the leading tackler on defense (and 3 of the top 4), including Troy Bowles at LB. Jesuit over-performed last season, largely on the strength of the right arm of QB Joe Pesansky, who threw for almost 3,000 yards and 35TD's. The Pesansky family moved down to Tampa last summer (Joe's younger brother also started on defense as a freshman) and, in a move that ruffled the feathers of a few area Jesuit alums, Joe was able to transfer into Jesuit as a senior. He rewarded that decision with an outstanding season. Pesansky's backup last year was Luke Knight, a freshman who got a little mop-up action, but is largely game-day untested. He should be able to gain experience over the course of the season by handing the ball off to Smith or throwing short passes to Vandeross, French and Co., who will have the speed and quickness to turn 5-yard outs into 75-yard TD's. But, he'll just be a sophomore this next season. Assuming no one transfers in this season, I suspect the talent around him will make him look good this season and then his own talent will carry him - and the team - the next two years. Offensive line is a bit of a question mark for me, but only because I'm not as familiar with the guys in the trenches as I am the skill guys. They'll have good depth and a multitude of good coaches. I expect them to make another deep run in 2021.

  11. As Perspective laid out in his own lawyerly, rather cheeky way, they are both talented and well coached. To me, they are a more consistent version of Bishop Moore in Orlando which is equally well coached, but does not always have as much talent.
