  1. https://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/highschool/os-sp-hs-fhsaa-survey-0902-20210901-ayishbqatngldcybxvhkucjvqy-story.html "Those choices were: Divide teams by student enrollment counts, the long-standing FHSAA method. Classify based on county population, which could mean a Metro division for schools in Orlando, Miami, Tampa, etc., and a Suburban division for teams in less populated areas. They would go along with the existing Rural division, which was created in 2011 for small-town schools with less than 600 students. Align teams based on their competitive level, utilizing a power ranking system." The FHSAA sent out a survey to athletic director and coaches and asked them which one of the above would they prefer when doing re-classification. I do not get a vote on this, but I really hope they choose method 3. I have long advocated for a promotion and relegation type system where good teams, no matter the size, move up, and poor teams move down. My idea would be that a 2A football would take 12 years to move up to 8A based on 2 year re-classifications. Sadly, I think the FHSAA will simply just put all the good teams move up all at once, which will be too big of a shock to the system. Other sports team I would be every year, so 6 years for a 2A basketball to end up in 8A. Individual sports (Track, Cross Country, Golf, Swimming, Wrestling, etc) should be done on participation (FACA survery asked about that) and power ranking. I am sure there are enough technical wizards who could look at a returning team of cross country and figure out how much they improve from year to year on average and figure out a ranking system. ______________________________ On a complete side note, a lot of newspapers have been running subscription services for $1 for 6 months, with a cancel anytime. Best couple of bucks I have spent. I was tired of being stuck behind paywalls or subscribers only.

  2. Looks like they use 2 lenses so a single very wide angle is not needed, then digitally combine the 2 images side by side. Problem is you can often see a difference... one lense has a little more fogginess or slightly different brightness. I think there are some that are using no human intervention at all. No human could be that bad!! It's frustrating watching the focal point just randomly meander to the unused side of the field.

  4. I am not overlooking anyone at all. I am not a football coach so my opinion doesn't even matter. Heck I haven't seen a live gave in a year and haven't seen Jones in person in like 5 or 6 LOL. I am sure Jones is really good like they have been in recent years. Jesuit is good too and their coaches won't look past anyone. Peezy = Dumb Fan = don't take anything valid with my opinion. LOL.

  5. gatorman, on your above side note, I'd like to see a digital "Gannett Florida Special" offered. They currently own 17(?) daily Florida newspapers from Palm Beach to the panhandle. The printing sites have been cosolidated and many print deadlines push way up (10pm). Daytona paper is printed in Lakeland and trucked over. I pay $59 a years for the local digital daily. It would be great to have access to those other 16 at my finger tips.

  6. I've learned to never doubt a team from Liberty City... Especially early on in the season. A lot of those kids are playing together for the 1st time (or the 1st time in years because they played together in Optimus league went to different schools and are now back together) and haven't gelled yet. Do they have a new coach this year? Hard to get info out these days. My advice don't make a prediction on them until like week 7

  7. Pretty sure that would one would've worked better lol. Long story short the password I used I used on other sites. Some hacker or site admin got my log in and password put in a data search to see where that User (email) has accounts and tried the password at all. Wala. Lesson here is use 2 factor protection, don't use similar passwords unless its annoyingly uncommon like "Gogayturds" and don't visit National HS Prep Sites that are as fake as The Bishop Sycamore himself.

  8. I'm not sold on Miami Northwestern yet, right now I would take Jesuit head to head with them and I may be the only person in the media willing to say that but I believe it

  9. I think STA wins but it's gonna be closer than most people think and Jesuit is probably still best team in 6a currently in my eyes

  10. Both teams put it out there initially. They had 2 schools cancel (Wharton and Plantation) and they put it together fast.

  11. Please, don't make me gag. I know that you lived through both Woodrow Wilson and FDR's Presidencies ( and was a child during Grover Cleveland's two terms as 22nd and 24th President) but give it a rest already. Speaking of rest, don't forget to get your share of it, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, Great, "Grandpa."

  13. Martin County had to cancel this week due to covid issues, so Vero will be hosting Bartow this Friday instead.

  18. See the thing here is I'd trust a full grown Tiger to baby sit my kids before I trust the people who rank players at 247 to do an accurate assessment of talent. Also I despite and dislike 247 and never give them any clicks out of principal and history (You know this). Talent is as talent does, they could be very talented or not as but you always have to worry about them come playoff time and watch what happens near the end of the season. Judge them then. they could be really good or could be average but you won't know that right now. As for Columbia... Bro... they are a good team every year... but the problem is they haven't won a state title since you were in diapers (I actually don't remember the year I think it was like 02). Either way don't get offended when a team that has consistently for the last 30 some years competed for and won state titles is favored over a team that has not won any in a decade or even competed in the big game... That right there is called logic. I have no dog in the fight here I have not supported a school that has won a title like ever... (Showing my Pinellas roots here), but I am just saying don't get emotional over it.

  19. I watched their (Venice's) HBC's podcast live last evening. He implied that you should be able to watch it later; at least for now. It seems their process is evolving with time.

  20. Look up their roster on 24/7 and compare it to past Miami Northwestern teams They aren't nearly as loaded as past teams, on paper they aren't much more loaded than Columbia is but nobody is giving Columbia any shot to even compete for a title but MNW is supposed to be the clear cut 6a favorite

  21. Jesuit is good. Seen them in person (yaay I finally got out for a game) and of course I know their staff as we discussed... but yeah its a nothing to lose type of game so they will come out swinging... They are not talented enough to beat STA straight up but I think they can hang with them for a bit. I do think they are one of the best in 6A but there is some steep comp in there they will have to contend with deeper into the rounds.

  22. Ehhh Jesuit has a great coaching staff... They can scout and put together a game plan and their kids will be fast to adopt it... But I don't think that matters. The talent level difference is just vast and Jesuit is a pretty talented team in it of itself.

  23. Jesuit is good... Like potential 6A state title contender good... but they aren't STA good.... The team I saw will not be phased in the state of Florida this year.

  24. Yea it seems like schools are doing a lot better this year with the cancellations. Vero ha dtheir game canceled Monday I believe and already had Bartow lined up by Tuesday for the this Friday.

  25. Nothing to bounce back from both undefeated. But after seeing STA take apart SFA Jesuit will not leave undefeated lol.

  26. I don’t think it’s Dillard I think it’s the network it’s self, but to answer your question the NFHS broadcast was terrible for the chaminade game, constantly lagged & never played.

  27. Seems both STA & Tampa Jesuit had cancellations with this weekend's original opponents and hurriedly scheduled a game in Tampa for this Saturday. Anyone hear of a streaming source please post.

  28. Yea the first one was an early one on Coach Schneider backing his players up on a no call. The second one was a bonehead one late in the game on Coach Schneider.

  30. With how this game was set up I think both teams can come in with a sort of the unexpected , it just comes down to which team can execute and take advantage of it.

  31. After STA beat SFA, Jesuit has nothing to lose & everything to gain. When they played AH last year, it was probably the most disciplined team I’ve seen play. Having said that Raiders will probably be -24.

  32. They looked very good against Bishop Moore. Not sure if it was the competition or they are just very good. The Venice game should tell a lot.

The website is loaded with deplorables, 'necks, ignoramuses (some being all three-See: Nolebull 813), and some decent, educated, left leaning, upstanding citizens, like myself At my age it's about as much entertainment as my heart can take. 38. A couple notes from my end: 1. Disheartening to see that Vero’s three best players (Jacobs, Smith, Monds) were all at Ft. Pierce Westwood last year. This is not a knock on Lenny or the Vero Beach program—it happens everywhere. Just an overall assessment of the nature of high school football as a whole. Not the same game I grew up with. 2. Sad to see Vero’s YouTube broadcast get kicked to the curb. I get it—if people are willing to pay $15/game, as an athletic department, you do it. That said, the YouTube broadcasts were quite enjoyable. While I’m sure the partnership with the FM radio station will be more professional, they will surely lose some of the fun-loving homer-like tendencies from the YouTube crew. Became a staple of my Friday night’s on the couch—it will be missed. Fun game last night. Thanks to the Brevard Sports Network for allowing us in.

  39. Fantastic game by two well matched teams, I think Cocoa ended the game with 404 yards of offense, Vero had 391 yards. Hats off to Cocoa, they converted a two pointer to tie the game in regulation and another to win the game in OT.

  42. I think everyone in Vero (and the rest of the state) would be happy just getting to play scheduled opponents and not scramble to find games again due to Hurricane and/or Covid cancellations...
