Of all the games on Lakeland's schedule, Lake Wales bothers me the most. Even more so than LG. Granted, the Highlanders being 2-0 is hardly an indicator for the entire season. Albeit rare, history has not gone in Lakeland's favor when traveling east within the county and playing Ridge teams with a decent record. 2001 - District loss to Haines City (7-3) 2-0, ended 60-game winning streak 2012 - District loss to district winner Ridge (9-3) 7-0 This Friday marks 20 years since Lakeland lost the streak against Hornets. Although they're not playing HC, schools along US 27 amongst the oranges groves were not only notorious for throwing oranges at busses and fans, but shocking the hell out of Lakeland when the Naughts least expected it. Nothing is more dangerous than a team with nothing to lose and everything to gain. This is statement game for both teams and it will come down to who executes, limits mistakes and who wants it more.
