  1. After looking at each possible division. Here is a simple breakdown of who the state champs will be every year. Metro 1 Jax Trinity or Champagnat Suburban- Madison 2 Miami central or Cardinal gibbons Victory Christian or John Carrol 3 St. Thomas Aquinas or Northwestern Cocoa every year- no competition at all and might win by 100 4 Apopka versus Columbus yearly Mainland , St, Augustine , or Naples Venice / Osceola classic yearly Please explain how this will lead to great Parity. There will be less. I would bet these team listed above win 95% of the next 2 year state championships. Heck, don't even bother playing the season. Just play the state championships week 1 and let all other contests be scrimmages like the spring games. The private schools will win 4 to 5 state championship a year. Easy solution is to place privates in own division and move teams up and down divisions based on success or failure. Too hard for the FHSAA to figure out.

  2. What does this proposal due to stop recruiting? Nothing, there are some teams in suburban divisions who recruit big time and are dominant in their districts and regions. They will destroy the competition in most of the divisions and have huge blowouts just like now. Then what about metro schools who don’t recruit. This idea makes them lambs for slaughter as they will never win any district games and get a running clock in most of the games. This idea does not solve any problem but will create all new ones.

  3. Two issues with this dumb idea. You will get the same five teams winning the suburban divisions and the metro. Just look at some possible breakdowns and same teams will win so you are not solving the problem. The best teams need to move up and bad teams move down to create super divisions at top is only way for true balance. Also. Now you are squeezing all the metro teams into four divisions and suburban into five so now you have huge enrollment differences between teams so the gap will be even worse in the for many teams who will have no chance to compete. Some teams will have almost double the enrollment of other teams. Blow this idea up and research real way to make the game better .

  4. Just another example of the FHSAA sticking a bandaid on a broken bone and hoping it fixes itself. Cut down from 8 to 6 classes and put the big schools with the big schools and the small schools in the lower classifications. Otherwise you have Madison County, a school with almost 4A numbers competing with schools that can barely field a football team. Same can be said for Hallandale in 5A having to compete with Miami Central and Northwestern. Utter rubbish. The FHSAA needs to burn down the house they’ve constructed and rebuild it from scratch. Otherwise, no meaningful change will come.

Point well taken. How's this edited version? "And, yes, the 'Naughty' folks from Polk were right there fluffing up the pillows."

Yeah, I don't mind folks ragging on the FHSAA when it's warranted. And it often is. But in the case of school choice/free transfer, I feel compelled to remind people that the state legislature made the bed that the FHSAA now lies in. And, yes, the folks from Polk were right there fluffing up the pillows.

I do know that, only because of the polk county crap that happend. its BS man, 365 transfer rule used to be the norm. and it stopped this silly stuff of kids playing for 3 teams in 4 years because " i want to play linebacker and coach been sleeping on me" and ends up playing DE....lol

  8. No i do not think that privates are the only one to recruit. They just win most of the state championships. The public schools in major area recruit like crazy and usually one school becomes the it school and they all flock there. Sort of like Miami Central, Jax Lee, Naples , Lakeland. Dr. Phillips. That why the football factory schools should be moved into same class according to win percentage and playoff results. If you do that, then no reason to separate private schools. Have all football factories playing each other. Place other schools in the rest of the divisions by wins as well and move teams up and down every two years. Sort of like international soccer leagues do it..

you honestly think that the privates are the major recruiters? I have a bridge I like to sell ya then..... the metro schools are the absolute worst kept secrets at "school choice" recruiting. just read some of the posts here.....this coach, this player, this player, etc.....I can think of a school or 5 in each metro county that has more d1,2,3, etc kids on their football team that dont belong to them than their own d1,2,3 kid. the problem isnt privates, while it is a problem in itself that they are lumped with public, the problem is school choice.....if fhsaa would hammer down and say, live here go here or dont play, add in the 365 day transfer rule like previoulsy mentioned, that stops all of it. move or not, cant play for a year.

  10. Sorry add Chaminade to whatever division they are in. Just trying to show point that the whole idea is to create parity but will still have same state champs every year in same division but you will get more blowouts in districts because you are putting teams in same district who have vastly different enrollments. Not even adding fact of the recruiting teams advantages.

  11. One last point. The metro suburban plan does not address the private school dominance issue at all. They will continue to win most of the state championships.

Those schools choose to not participate. Plenty of guys in 1A schools. I would agree if it was like 100 kids total in schools. But it's 300 to 400. That's more than enough for 50 guys per 1a schools.

i 100% agree. those kids that transfer cannot do any extracurriculars, as you couldnt just say sports someone would flip their grits over that. no theater, no dance, no football, no band, no, no, no. you live by your high school go there and stfu, or move, legally, and no forged lease papers that you can find forms on the internet for and fill out..... yes, I have seen that before..... kids going past 3 hs to go play sports is ridiculous.

100%, the problem is clear and you can leave school choice for an education available to everyone at both public and private. Just restrict students not zoned for that school to sit out a year for HS sports. It won't fix the problem completely as some schools will choose to gamble not getting caught but it would be a huge step in the right direction.

metro doesnt help some of those teams. look at orlando/orange county, sanford/seminole county. suburban doesnt help some of the osceola, lake, brevard teams making the playoffs either. school choice is the issue. period, its just now recruiting is legal, where before it wasnt, but still done yearly. fix that, and balance to the state occurs. sorta

  17. I just wanted to say this on the topic because I read a quote from a coach saying look at 1A and how great that is. As competitive balance is the main reason for the metro/suburban debate. But Madison County has won 4 out of 7 State Championships since they've been in 1A. In 5 playoff games this past season against 1A teams Madison only gave up 18 points! The 3 loses Madison has to 1A teams is 2015 against Trenton, 2016 against Pahokee and 2020 against Hawthorne. Trenton got in trouble for recruiting during those years. Hawthorne the last few years has gotten in more transfer than many private schools. Is that what they're telling 1A schools they have to do to win? Makes me sick listening to these coaches saying 1A has it right when they clearly don't.

  18. @DILLARD_HIGH_PANTHERS tell your boys to put their big boy pants on, it’s time!!! Dillard is 0-2 all time in OOS. They got sent to slaughter by Isaac Bruce when he brought them up to IL to play East St Louis. Lost 51-7. Then they went to Texas and played Stephenville. They were up big then the Texas heat and coaching became too much. Lost 43-32. Let’s see if Dillard can represent nationally in this showcase game

  19. I'm doing the what if scenario here but what if Dillard beats St. Johns, schedules a Miami power like Central or Northwestern, then beat St. Thomas twice and capture a state title. Now I see Dillard maybe being national Champs.

  20. And that east St. Louis team had 19 ineligible players and they had to forfeit that season, I was played in both that game and the Texas game and the heat most def played a huuggeeeee factor that Texas game had me disgusted as you stated we were up BIG! After the game they said we were the biggest and fastest team they had played in a few years up to that point.
