  1. im trying real hard to figure out why you care so much? is your team in sub urban and your super butt hurt? or is your team in metro and you can figure out why you wont win a state title now? if the answer is neither, you are really emotional about this. suburban doesnt help the suburban teams as much as everyone/anyone thinks. metro still will be majority of same teams winning anyways. it hurts the middle of the road teams in both classes and lumps them with alot of the same districts they were already in or lumps them with teams they were not going to beat regardless of any class. the 5-5 teams will still be 5-5 the 9-1 teams will still be 9-1 get rid of school choice, which wont happen, is the only real solution to the recruiting issue we have in the state. put back in the 365day mandatory sitout period for transfers. major major fines for coaches, suspensions, etc. may get something straight here.

  2. Whoaa. Thought for a minute you were really looking for the ultimate test and had scheduled Madison.

  3. It does suck and I have suggested an alternative many times. I'm in agreement they should move teams up and down based off performance. Where you live and the number of kids in your school is not as important as what 22 kids are on the field.

  4. A lot of families move away. We have a high migrant population, that travels for work (sugar cane, corn, rice, etc). It’s always been like that. 7/8th grade classes have about 150+ kids, but by the senior year there’s 70 kids graduating. Jobs and housing are issues also. A lot of people work in West Palm, Riviera and that’s a 45 minute to hour drive. So it’s convenient to move closer to your job.

  5. I have a much different system that does the same idea which would have addressed the issue differently Maybe if you metro cheaters weren't always recruiting this issue wouldn't have gotten bad Want to blame someone? Blame these metros who out there getting 10-15 transfers every off-season and creating this mess

    1A football

Most 1A schools are Middle/High schools (6-12). Our youth teams go up to about 6th grade (12 years old) and kids are allowed to play JV (football) in 7th grade. Frostproof, Ft. Meade, Wildwood, Hawthorne are all 6-12 (Middle/Senior) high schools. Pahokee is the only 1A public, south of Polk County. Theres 1 major exception to the 6-12 school in North Florida. They used to be in the same classification as Glades Central (4A) but some way, they’ve lost about 600+ kids.

  9. Most “true” 1A teams have a JV team and it’s just like 561 fan stated. It is made up with mostly 7-9th graders from the middle and high school. Most “true” 1A schools are middle and high because they have always been that way. Most 1A schools have somewhere between 25-40 kids on a roster and usually 10-15 seniors would be great. Other 1A schools that may have another 200 kids or so that attend a charter school are able to have a varsity and jv made up from their 9-12. Those schools also somehow manage to have 20-25 seniors every year. But I guess mathematically it makes sense. If I have a school with 400 kids and have 14 seniors then a school with 700 kids will have 25 seniors, only usually that school is 4A.

  10. That is an open week of which we tentatively now have 5 left. I do know in talks with our coach he has the other 5 targeted with non district foes plus the spring game, KOC also done and he left remaining weeks to schedule district opponents once those get decided in the next month. This situation with the FHSAA doing this so late is a disaster for all.

  11. Oh my. How can a team in the suburban compete with a big bad metro private school from South Florida. Runnnnnnnnn away. Now. Scary.

  12. I'm ok with school choice. However I think school choice should be made entering 9th grade and after that you have to move or sit out a year.

  13. And I hope that's the case This system will need updates after the cycle just like the classifications have needed an overhaul for a decade We won't know where the biggest issues with it are until we see it in action

  14. The school choice program has a lot of kids leaving the area as well. Wellington and Seminole Ridge get a lot of kids from Pahokee and Belle Glade because of this in the high school and middle schools.

  15. Truth hurts Columbia. Please explain how Seminole got placed in Metro when they were in suburb with original idea. Maybe so Lee county could escape and get its 2 members to vote for separating Florida in A and C track football divisions. While you are adding fake titles...why dont you just Create 286 classifications so all of you can be fake state champs. Participation trophies for all country bumkin teams.

  16. Okay so you either didn't play or weren't that good because you ain't showing off no championship ring and based on what you said unless your winning a ring and from a metro school you aren't good and the athletes suck Yup so If all your gonna do is blab on forever feel free to spread your garbage to nobody

  17. I am done about my school. Did anyone see how screwed 2a schools are in metro. School class range of 600-1600 and packed with some amazing teams like billed and central. I bet teams flock for independence there. That idea seems fair. Did anyone even mention how metro teams in 2a getting crushed

  18. He’s originally from Pahokee and came back to play his SR year. A lot of kids who leave want to come back and play there. Adarious and Akeem Dent (though he finished at Palm Beach Central). Tamarcus Porter (Pitt) families are from Pahokee that moved away and those kids came back to play their SR seasons. All those kids had ties to the community before coming back. Grandparents, aunts, and uncles still live here.

    9 classes?

They could have 4 classes and it would still be garbage if they used student enrollment as the end all be all for it

  20. When we had Boldin, no one came. When we dominated 2B with Janoris Jenkins (UF), Micanor Regis (UM), Martavious Odoms (Michigan), Vincent Smith (Michigan), Antone Smith (FSU), Alphonso Smith (Wake Forest) no one came to play for Pahokee. Pahokee and Belle Glade do not have favorable perceptions in Palm Beach County (that’s an entirely different conversation), plus it’s about 30 miles from the closest city. Pahokee and GC only get media coverage when we win state. Everything else is a small blip.

  21. This individual isn't brave enough to show who he is speaking for and thinks his barbs against strong suburban programs diminish all their accomplishments. All the while being perfectly happy competing against losers and collecting a consolation prize in the proposal he supports.

I cant imagine a 7th grader going against a much more physically developed 10th grader. That just doesnt seem safe at all. My 14 year old son is 220 lbs and started on varsity this year for an 8A school but he would've gotten annihilated as a 7th grader playing JV football. I worried for his safety this year as a freshman on varsity even. He was probably developed enough as a 185 lb 8th grader last year to safely play on JV but no way as a 7th grader. Yikes.

  23. If Madison thought they could win why would they leave 3a? Why go to a weaker class if they were capable of competing? When districts were abolished Bolles and TCA VOLUNTEERED to move up classification to play in a large classification to have a district yet second 1a came around Madison wanted to get their numbers down to join it

  29. It’s not that your to far out west , just saying your still in a county with over 1 million people were you have a chance and a true rural school has zero chance
    1 point
  30. No then don’t be scared if the metro schools might do the same thing we shouldn’t need this split for surburban , seriously you think Hamilton County Florida 14,500 ever has a chance against Pahokee in Palm Beach

  31. Pahokee and Glades Central are to far out West to attract transfers. We’ve always won with home grown kids. Both schools loose more kids to Glades Day (Belle Glade), then they attract. Wish we could get some OL to come in.

Well, 60 - 40 is a majority, at least in my county.

  34. Seriously, we are worried that Pahokee is going to start picking up transfers? Glades Central is the closest school to Pahokee, they are 13.3 miles, and no kid is turning on Belle Glade for Pahokee (or vice versa). And if we are concerned, why are we not concerned that Union County is only 15.9 miles from Bradford. (Yes, school choice allows you to attend another district's schools if there is room).

  35. The plot thickens. Based on a cursory review of the FHSAA Board of Directors, Lee County has two representatives on the Board, while Seminole County has none. The two Lee County members are Mr. Thomas Kenna (AD at Cape Coral H.S.) and Ms. Chris Patricca (a Lee County School Board member). I'm just speculating, but perhaps the folks in Lee County didn't want to spend their limited post-season time driving southeast to get their butts kicked by South Florida teams on a regular basis and quietly figured out a way to slide into the Suburban group at the expense of Seminole. Or maybe I've just read too many John Grisham books over the years.

  36. Someone in suburban saw that lee county sucks at football and Seminole county had the 8a states champs and switched the two counties even though no one from Orange County drive 40 minutes to transfer to seminole. Joke plan

  37. No sense waiting for that call, looks like the verdict is in and your plan has been "RELEGATED" to the file for later analysis.
