  1. Our OHS Kowboys are again primed for another outstanding season which our upcoming schedule clearly reflects, but I will keep my powder dry until we complete voluntary summer workouts and then fall camp. I believe a lot can happen between now and late August for better or for worse. Right now, our participation rate with our players is extremely high and they are working extremely hard so that is a huge plus at this stage of summer. Toho HS should be interesting to watch over the next couple of years with Coach Paradiso (formerly Lake Nona) taking over the program. His MO offensively over the years has relied on a well-schooled aerial attack producing several good QB's. We have a young prospect (8th grader) out of Kissimmee named Sabby Meassick that played on our youth league teams the last few years and he has chosen to enroll at Toho rather than OHS. He has size, arm strength and obvious talent as Gators Staff has already made him a verbal offer. Have an inkling why he made this decision, but with that said don't want to speculate any further. Looking forward to the kickoff for the upcoming season. GO KOWBOYS!!

  2. Jesuit will still be solid. They return a 30 TD quarterback and 1900 yard rusher. The defensive loses a bit but a lot of younger guys got meaningful snaps. Tampa Bay Tech returns a good core too. They won’t skip a beat. They return more than Jesuit on defense, so they could be slightly ahead at least early in the season. Jesuit plays a way tougher schedule as well. Berkeley loses a ton. Armwood has been regressing. Gaither is loading up. right now just Tech and Jesuit should be top 25 in state from Hillsborough.

  5. In Brevard the top 2 are Cocoa and Rockledge. Merritt Island and Melbourne are looking to make noise again. The talks around Palm Bay is that they are on the rise but they've been saying that for the past 3 seasons since they have a highly ranked DE that is back healthy for his senior season. But we will see how far they have come when they play Cocoa in what should be the district championship game. Bayside has some playmakers and should be improved. My dark horse in Brevard is Heritage, the young core they had in 2020 is still together and should have the experience now to go along with their talent. And of Eau Gallie should be improved with the talent they've had and still have. But we will see if they will be able to back up all the talk they've been throwing around on twitter.

  6. The RPI formula rewards wins more than losses to good teams since a loss is only as good as a win if that loss was to an undefeated team. You will ensure you have a better chance of making the playoffs with a weaker schedule *but* you will also not be as ready for the competition you will meet early in the playoffs.

  9. When he was at Cocoa he would play teams he had a zero percent chance of beating. He would schedule games he knew was an auto loss just to be able to take his team sight seeing. Now with New Smyrna Beach it’s the opposite. The non district schedule has got to be one of the worst in the state. Crystal River Sunlake Titusville Central FL Christian Academy East River Zephyrhills Christian WTF??? That’s horrible!

  10. Thanks for sharing this article, as it has been highlighted before on the forum with some participants trashing the new plan partly because there wasn't a STRONG MANDATE (final vote 9-7). However, in reading this article again it is clear the voting pretty much followed the "party line" with Metro reps against and Suburban reps for. One Metro rep dissented because she didn't have enough information, missing data, not enough AD feedback and other non-sensical objections although the process clearly followed the 2 year requirement by FHSAA which did provide all of that. Lastly, as I previously had pointed out the swing vote ended up being by a Metro rep out of Miami. Looking at that DATA it is clear the Metro's that benefit from the geographical population advantage wanted to keep the status quo; who can blame them as this advantage has given them 5-7 titles annually in the different classifications with school enrollment the only criteria. That number will now be cut in half as they will have to deal with like schools in the TRANSFER ERA, so the complaints are to be expected though without merit.

  11. I wouldn't want it any other way Madison wants to step up against Columbia every year and it's why I respect them, I like the challenge and I hope they stay as an annual matchup

  12. But it's only being assumed he was recruited Him going to Columbia had been up in the air even when he was at Fort White because of his dad having ties to Columbia the whole time, there was other aspects of it but I've chose to not go into details on it because it is unnecessary and not something I feel is important to bring to a public forum but long story short I do know even people in the local media felt him coming here was a possibility the last 3 years It was an elephant in the room of will he go to Columbia for like 3 years, most knew it was always a possibility so Columbia doesn't need to go and say "hey come play here" He's fully capable of making his own decisions and from reading the article he talked with his family before doing it but I'm sure his dad having ties to Columbia already probably peaked interest

  13. That was the whole reason I made the post in the first place I wanted to prove that people here don't give a damn about a metro school getting transfers but the rural teams are supposed to be some whipping boy for these schools? Why? Why are teams like Columbia supposed to just accept being incapable of winning? Screw the narrative and screw the bullshit I really don't give a damn because come season time it will be put up or shut up and the teams that can play with the big boys will and those who can't will get smashed when they come up to play a good team Some teams been running their mouths and now they will pay for the last 2 years of kicking Columbia while they were down Suwannee Buchholz Union Madison TCA Your on deck and if you don't bring everything you have you will lose, warning issued step up or step aside

  17. Hooks is that dude!! I “hooked” him up with playing a California and Georgia team a while back. The game against the Cali team was epic. Holy Trinity was down 28-7 and stormed back to win 31-28! Holy Trinity went 6-3 that year and the Cali team went 12-2 and almost won state. That’s depth https://usatodayhss.com/2016/week-1-holy-trinity-31-st-bernards-calif-28

  18. Um, but recruiting is still against the rules. So, let me fix that second sentence for you: "Columbia can and will play by any game we have to, people make the rules and we will find a way to break them, but just hope that no one catches us, so that we can keep winning because that's what winning programs do."

  20. I’m not saying they should be scheduling STA. But maybe Mainland, Brevard powers, West Orange types etc. Hell their week 11 opponent on maxpreps is listed as “Varsity opponent” Lol. Like they have to unwrap it and see the team they get to play

  21. They seem to be getting better The game is in October so it should be clear by that point if the game will be competitive

  22. You should come to Lake City when Columbia plays Middleburg It's supposed to be the game we debut the new scoreboard and that game will likely be for the district championship now that Middleburg has been getting transfers in Clay County

  23. QB but probably will be a dual threat My guess is that Hawthorne did that because most 1a teams just try to out athlete teams because they know it's the path of least resistance He will be better developed as a passer at Columbia

  24. "The reality is that had Coach Jackson ended up at Columbia about a month or 2 earlier than he did, Jefferson would had likely been at Columbia last year based on people I've spoken to about this situation" Without researching Columbia's recent QB situation, I'm guessing that this past season's starting QB is graduating and this kid is expected to be their new starting QB for the upcoming season. If that's the case, it smells of recruiting and maybe a position for his Dad was part of the enticement. It also stinks for the QB that waited for his turn and would have been moving up to the starting position in the next season.

  25. Is he playing QB or RB for you guys? He pretty much ran QB power against PK in the playoff game last year, because their passing game was almost nonexistent, their first (and probably only) pass was a pick 6. He looks like a college RB to me

  26. Definitely looks like they are taking a step back especially compared to how they scheduled in seasons past. This is also his first season coaching without his son on the team at NSB

  27. Players have been doing this for a while. They imitate what they see pros/college athletes doing. Eventually we will see 8th graders and 5th graders doing the same.

  32. Who is "they?" Serious question. Did Suwanee's coach say that publicly? Or was it just a couple of high school kids on Twitter? Or some guy on a high school football message board? There's always going to be "that guy" or a handful of disillusioned fan[atic]s who think their team can beat every other team in the country (and, no, I'm not talking about Jesse). But you can't hold an entire school or its football team accountable for a couple of folks pounding their chests. So, I'll ask again, who is "they?" On a related note, how exactly does someone "snatch press time?" By doing something newsworthy? By playing games when another team is not (albeit for valid reasons)? Last, was it Suwanee coaches who were trying to convince Columbia players to transfer? Or players? Is this one of those "you know that it happened, but can't really prove it" situations? If I were you, I think I would be excited that the rivalry is being renewed and that your team finally gets to play Suwanee on the filed . . . even if its a glorified scrimmage.

  33. But it is convenient how many OOS teams manage to find the weakest matchups possible then go back to their states bragging about beating a Florida team
    1 point
  34. Too bad Monarch isn’t playing an OOS games but horrible teams like Coral Glades and West Broward are. Hell West Broward is playing the top team from Tennessee. About to get a 50 point ass stomping to go with that mountain sight seeing

  35. And why does Nassau County have 4 high schools? Makes no sense. Gadsden County has 45,000 people and just merged into one school. Nassau Co has 85,000 and has 4 high schools. Realistically, West Nassau and Hilliard should merge together. Combined they would have about 1,700 kids.

  36. Yule’s coach came from Rockledge where they know how to attract talent. If your remotely competent at the game of football and you live in Nassau County, Yulee would be the one school you would want to be at now. They are trending up as much as Nassau County team can. Lol.

  37. Idk I saw several from the Dillard kids I would say that I've seen this for a few years now when I come across Twitter posts of kids transferring

  38. It's a different world when you have 5 OL's and 4 DL's, with large bodies, going at it right in front of the QB. In 7v7, the QB usually has a clear, unobstructed view of the field. and he has four seconds to get rid of the ball. A Pro Style QB under 6 foot tall can be very successful in 7v7 because he can see the whole field. There's a reason why most of the top HS QB's are 6'3" or taller and dual threat; they have a better view of the entire field and can find their receivers over the middle.
