Let’s freaking gooooooooooooo. In this game the Bucs started out fantastic getting to a 19-0 lead at the half. After a silent 3rd quarter for both teams, Cocoa started a comeback in the 4th getting 14. After they got an onside kick I was nervous as crap but then we got a pick in the end zone and ran the clock out. I’m so proud of my Bucs and hope they can take this to the postseason and maybe even a state championship!!!!6 points

Heartbreak as our defense played lights out shutting down their ability to run and limiting offense thru the air. They won the toss and elected to defer and we promptly marched the ball methodically down their throat for 80 yards for a TD and consumed exactly 8 minutes of the first quarter. Kicked to them, forced a 3 and out and got the ball back. Did the same thing again for another TD and 12-0 lead. We lost our kicker who was a 2 year starter right before the season started as he moved to PA to live with his grandfather, thus the extra point problems. They managed one drive before halftime but had to settle for a field goal as the clock wound down for a 12-3 lead. On the ensuing second half kick we pooched it in the air to about their 40-yard line where 2 of their players were undecisive and let the ball bounce in between them. We converged as we thought we may recover a fumble, but they got a funny bounce, we lost contain and 60 yards later they got their first TD plus extra point. Score 12-10. They finally managed their only sustain long drive of the game which was aided by a 15 yard personal foul penalty on a 3rd and 6 which they had failed to make. Still having the momentum they were able to complete a few short passes down the field for the final TD, 17-12. We had a final drive with clock running down that started at our 3 yard line after a punt by them and we got to midfield but simply not enough time. Doubt they gained more than 40-50 yards on the ground and maybe another 150 thru the air. Neither team is as strong as last years, but have room to grow as our new QB was pretty poised throughout and made several great plays with both his feet and his arm. Definitely think he is an improvement over the one that left. Gotta bounce back next week to get this bad taste out of our mouth.4 points

There is no set standard for canceling/postponing a game. Usually, it is the Home-Team Administration that makes the decision though.2 points

Cocoa had their chances but can't keep dropping a bunch a passes when the QB does make good throws and the QB can't make the same mistakes by just throwing it up and hoping there's someone down the field to catch it without making a read. First play after recovering the onside with a lil over 2mins left he just heaves the ball down field to the endzone with one receiver and pretty much 3 Bucs receiver not even close. Easy pick to seal the win.2 points

Come on 'bull. Spruce Creek's not STA,C-M, or MNW, but their also not a bad team or school. Coach Andy Price has been one of the best area coaches for more than 20 yrs. Now with free agency being the law of the land, he's getting some normally Mainland Blue & Gold athletes settling for his school just a short few miles away. Academically, plus having very good boys and girls all-round sport teams makes Spruce Creek the Gold Standard for area public school pride and success . I see you're still a hater despite the move to Appalachia.2 points -

This game is an upset now because Cocoa is highly ranked. Cocoa was kept in the rankings even though they almost lost to Merritt Island. It wasn’t enough to just boot them out. Now it’s obvious they are barely top 25 RIGHT NOW. Maybe not. Mainland is. Cocoa can reestablish themselves by beating Vero this week. Gonna be a tall task.1 point -
I knew we would have been hungry after that beatdown they gave us last year (51-0). When I saw them playing at the start, I saw that they came here to play. Also we drew a bigger crowd than I thought we would have as many Bucs fans made the trip. Happy we were able to pull it off.1 point

When I saw him make that throw and our defender back there I flipped out because I lwk thought we might blow it but our D saves us yet again. If we can get our offense really rolling we could be a top team this year.1 point

Haha Spruce did everything they possibly could to lose the game and still won. Avon would get obliterated by a team with just a little more discipline. This game reminded me of that South Park episode where the kids were forced to play baseball and kept trying to intentionally lose so they could stop, but the teams they were playing were trying to lose too! LMAO!!!1 point -

I recognize one of the Spruce Creek mothers you can hear yelling on the broadcast. She is the QB’s mom. She got kind of fresh with me at the Lakeland jamboree this spring. I had to tell her I was married. If I wasn’t married, I don’t know. I might be a Spruce Creek booster by now.1 point -
