A lot of close misses for Sebring this year. This is actually their 3rd win and they are the only team that has beat Martin County and now Glades Central. 5 losses were to CCC, Lakeland, Port Charlotte, Booker and Lake Wales. Port Charlotte, Booker and Lake Wales all came down to the last possession. So this isn’t nearly as big of an upset as it may seem. The LAZ index had GC winning by 1.5 points

I attended this game with JDHoss. This was one of those games where you wondered if either team really wanted to win. The game had its share of penalties, turnovers, overthrown passes, etc. By the way, has anyone else wondered if the referees are being paid by the number of flags thrown this year. Not a criticism, just an observation Jambun (don’t bother asking for details). The game was tied at 7 for most of the game. Then, finally, both teams scored by long TD passes in the last few minutes. Unfortunately for GC they missed their PAT with about 20 seconds left. The attempt appeared out of sync with much of the team looking like they were not ready for the snap. The GC coaches tried to console the placekicker because he was beside himself. It’s going to be a tough day at school for him today. After the game, you could hear probable students asking what his name is. BTW, for the most part and it being a Thursday night, it was a pretty laid back crowd, not the intensely engaged one I had always read and heard about. Finally, both teams obviously played good defense. IMO, the GC offense is too committed to the spread and passing too much. With their huge left tackle, Javarii Luckas, GC never ran behind him. I was astonished. He looked impressive and I couldn’t believe that was not a part of the game plan. He is committed to the Gators. He appears to be a good get for them. The Sebring offense was more balanced. One last thing, Dixie Fried Chicken was very good and inexpensive. JDHoss knows where to eat.2 points -

Regional Parity or Disparity
nolebull813 reacted to LAZ for a topic
If you have a kid currently playing, forget this post. But if you're like many fans with no dog in the hunt, you want to go see nice competitive high school games each week. Unfortunately, with the current structure in Florida, only rarely do we get to see close contests. Heading into week nine, there have been 1,994 in-state games. The average margin of victory/defeat in those nearly 2000 games has been 25.6 points. Basically, in the average game, one team is more than 3 1/2 touchdowns better than the other. For the common neutral observer (no pun intended), these games are usually not very exciting to watch. History tells us it will be worse come playoff time. I've been getting into Mean Average Deviation's this week to check on parity of certain groups. I have sorted this list by Class and Region in order of most competitive to least. Class/Regions with the lowest MAD are the most "balanced" and are more likely to produce closer games. Again, this does not represent strength. This reflects parity. CL R MAD 2A R4 8.76 7A R3 9.19 6A R1 9.53 5A R1 9.79 6A R3 10.26 3A R1 10.45 6A R2 10.53 7A R1 11.85 4A R3 12.13 6A R4 12.74 7A R2 12.87 5A R3 13.05 4A R1 13.45 2A R1 13.72 5A R4 13.83 7A R4 14.15 1A R1 14.23 3A R2 14.74 4A R2 14.95 2A R2 15.65 5A R2 15.98 2A R3 16.07 1A R3 16.32 3A R3 16.38 1A R2 16.42 3A R4 16.81 4A R4 17.30 1A R4 19.551 point -
If it weren't for Jensen Beach playing FPC 5 minutes away from us, we'd have been at this game. Vero will be a tall mountain for Pahokee to climb, but if Vero overlooks them, they could make it interesting. Pahokee won't be intimidated.1 point

With Dillard having a bye Dilladboyz might be on a cruise this weekend. I saw Mariner @ Charlotte last week then spent the day with my family and the sun. Student-athletes in Florida cannot accept money or gifts of monetary value for their athletic skill, fame, or performance. Doing so jeopardizes their amateur status and eligibility to compete in FHSAA activities. However, student-athletes can profit from use of their Name, Image, and Likeness through a properly executed NIL agreement. FHSAA Bylaw 9.9 governs NIL activity: https://fhsaa.com/documents/2024/8/12//Bylaw_9_9_Final.pdf?id=56281 point -

I'll be at the plantation vs blsnche ely game ,we can potentially see plantation in round 11 point -
So on another florida high school football forum on Facebook me and few football bros was talking about the upcoming playoffs and the potential seedlings and matchups for each school if the playoffs were to start today. and for example "4A REGION 4" if the playoffs started today #1 (4-3) American heritage Would Host #8 (3-5) Miami norland #3 (5-2) Archbishop McCarthy Would Host #6 (6-2) John Carroll Catholic #2 (7-0) Jensen Beach Would Host #7 (6-2) #4 DILLARD (8-0) Would Host #5 (4-3) Plantation. Now what doesn't makes sense to us, is How in the world is a district winner not a automatic top 4 seed. And what's even crazier is how in the hell can a none district winner and dare I say a non district winner with a none winning district record be awarded a Top 4 seed. for Example - Last year ALL 4 TEAMS from distrcit 4A-15 made it to the playoffs American Heritage #1 seed (District champion (3-0) district play Plantation #3 Seed (1-2) District play Miami norland #2 Seed (2-1) District Play Archbishop McCarthy #6 Seed (1-2) Distrcit play. And before the point system and SOS warriors come out in full effect , this is rewarding bad football if ive ever seen it. Number 1 there NEVER be 4 teams out of 1 distrcit making it to the playoffs, also if you did NOT win your district you should NOT be able to be a top 4 seed & host a round 1 playoff game when you didnt even have a winning record in your own division. I get alot of folks were against terrible district champions making it in the playoffs and their were only 1 other team in the district, but in my opinion this new format is not the answer either. Its like the bad teams/none district champions are being rewarded for underachieving. So you lost your district, but because you scheduled tough outside of your district even tho you lost those games to youre rewarded a playoff birth, thats INSANITY.1 point

That is the flaw of SOS, at least the way Max Preps **cough cough** does it. That in itself is a contradiction to the entire strength of schedule argument because it appears to weigh that strength relative to the team. It also raises the question of who is weighing these teams and how? Whatever the formula is, they got it all wrong. Just my opinion.1 point
