  1. If any program needs a shot in the arm its Chamberlain. Their tradition was ripped away from them when their nickname of 60 years was taken away by PC jackasses. It seems like their winning traditions have been forgotten. Wilder was a sophomore LB/RB at Chamberlain before transferring to Plant so he has ties to the school. He probably would’ve stayed at Chamberlain if they would’ve named Turner’s son as the head coach but he went to Plant and won state titles and national acclaim.

From from what I understand he is a high energy and sophisticated coach. Hoping he does great to revive the Chiefs (I mean the storm). The talent flooded out at Chamberlain about 10 to 15 years ago and never came back. Hopefully he will draw some players. I know he’s been running fb  camps for quite a while.

    Good luck Coach!!

  2. I got to watch 3 or 4 games and congrats to the winners. Couldn’t watch Lakeland v Venice bc of Christmas party but followed on score stream.

Chaminade is probably the class of the state.

Columbus looked good. BP looked good. If Homestead could kick a FG most of us on here would be celebrating.

    lakeland and mainland won classics.

Bradford was tough and played Cocoa fairly close.

looking forward to things going back to normal next year with seven classes and that open division will make teams like Chaminade and St. Thomas earn titles (although this year was probably the year to get STA) Should be interesting.

    4    Cocoa    13-1    64.60    36.0
    5    Norland (Miami)    14-0    63.60    33.3

    9    Central (Miami)    8-4    55.80    43.6

This is the top 8(IMG was 1st)....

according to maxpreps rankings, which is what they will be using

thats 8 loaded teams and 4 or 5 state champs and all 8 could possibly win state titles

Columbus just routed Mandarin. Clown rankings. Clown Association . Can’t rely on phony 3rd party rankings. Have to use a point system.

  4. for the open division, I don’t think it should be based on any sort of hokie ranking. It should be based on a point system. X amount of points for state titles won within the last five years, X amount of points for total playoff wins in the last five years, X amount of total wins over the last five years, X amount of points for winning percentage over the last five years.

I would also exclude all rural teams from the open division. There’s no way that a small rural team would be able to compete with chaminade. Ever.  Not enough of a population to draw from.

Idk what happened to our defense in the second half but we couldn't tackle $#!t.

We held them to 7 in the first half but the second half CCC did whatever that wanted to.

Hillsborough providing cannon fodder to the South Florida schools. Plant and  Gaither are not state semi final teams in any other bracket other than what the FHSAA forces everyone to endure.

Running clocks should not be happening in a large class state semi final. So anti-climatic

STA is going to running clock any team at this point. you can put any public  team in there you’d like other than maybe Norland and Cocoa and they will get running clocked by STA.

again, I completely disagree with most of your stuff lately. You’re not convincing me that any class is super strong. You might have a better team at the top, like St. Thomas, or maybe Norland, but your logic is lacking on this.

it’s easy to climb on to super recruited school from South Florida. You seem to be good at it.

  7. I don’t think plant would be much of an underdog against either monarch or Mandarin. Although they would both certainly be quality opponents, clearly the biggest stumbling block for plant is Columbus. I was envisioning this game taking place in Tallahassee, not in Miami. As such, it’s probably unlikely they get through this roadblock. Gaither will likely get blown out. Berkeley has a decent shot. Really not sure if Norland or AHP is the favorite in the class, but they have a puncher’s chance.

  8. 4M- Plant @ Columbus- Plant first time back in the semis in several years. Columbus defending state champs. Plant's best offensive player re-injured his nagging ankle injury Friday night but they still found a way. 11 in a row. Only two losses were close to BP who is still alive (see below) and Tech, who just lost a close one to Jones. Plant will need to find at least 24 points next week to have a shot and the defense has to continue to swarm. Columbus the favorite.Saw Columbus beat Jesuit pretty handily this year but the Tigers got better as the year went. Columbus will have a big size advantage on the lines. Pulling for Plant but Columbus likely wins by at least 10 at home. If the game was at Plant I'd think they'd find some Dad's Stadium magic, but it will tough on the road.

3M- Gaither @ St. Thomas Aquinas- HUGE win for Cowboys in OT over Jesuit. They go 5-5 in the regular season and then step up playing out of their minds. Of course when you play 14 time state champion Aquinas, you will likely be outclassed. But much respect to the Cowboys for pulling a stunner over Jesuit. Probably Aquinas by 21.

2M- Berkeley @ Am. Heritage Plantation- Again, going on road to play National Power. Berekely has the horses to hang with AHP, but AHP is the favorite. Winner likely gets Norland, who only beat 10-time state champ Central twice this year. Go Bucs! Very close game but Tampa team going on road to play national power probably means a close AHP win.

1M- Jax TCA v. CCC- Two perenniel winners. TCA has hardware and CCC wants a title. Game at CCC helps. I think they can win a pretty close game. Winner gets the unenviable task of likely taking on CM.

  9. These are the Massey Ratings Top 25 for Florida:

Edgwater and LM have lost but they still appear in the rankings (probably deserve this honor).

STA is a team you don't want to play at their place, every year they're peaking at this time with home field advantage.....with that said, I got STA with a running clock and facing either Jones or Jesuit next week

You know STA is pulling for Jesuit. They'd love to get Jesuit at home after the upset at Jesuit a few years back. Payback will be a b**** if that happens.  Jesuit and Jones is likely to be one of the best games in this round. Edgewater looked pretty dominant all year and Jones pulled the upset. Jesuit has gotten better as the year went on.

I actually think Coconut Creek will keep the game against Aquinas close before losing. They are a solid team and I don't think this is the best team St. Thomas has put out there.

I was being facetious. I think STA wins but not by 70. Probably by 24 or so.

They are arguably the best team in the state regardless of classification...playing in one of the weaker (of many) divisions.

They are clearly the best team in the state beating the schedule they have. Only IMG and STA would have a chance to beat them and I would favor CM this year over either of those teams. There is a comparative between IMG and CM, and that's St. Francis, which CM defeated with relative ease and IMG had a close game with. But to be fair SFA is playing better now at the end of the year then when CM caught them.

Plant lost 2 games to the best teams on their schedule and beat the rest of the teams who are not very good at all. Records don’t necessarily tell you how good a team is.

Same with Dr Phillips. Lost 4 games to the only 4 teams with a pulse. The teams they beat would get beat by some elite teams JV squads.

Sumner’s best win was against a 7 win team who played nobody and they lost to Durant who played nobody!!!

These teams are not good on a state level. That’s being delusional. Following local teams and them winning against a bunch of local teams who aren’t very good doesn’t make it better. Liking a team doesn’t make it better.

i seen a ranking for Hillsborough County that had CDS, Armwood, Jesuit, Tampa Bay Tech and Berkeley as the top 5 teams in the county.

Plant went 0-2 against them and Sumner and Durant didn’t even play any of them. So you can’t sit here and say these teams have even proved anything.

Bottom line is there will be a team that is unproven and nowhere near the quality of a state ranked team you would expect in a large class metro state semi final

new year. teams get better and gel. only time will tell.
