With Lakeland selling their 1000 tickets, plus the ones out of Armwood's allotment they bought from GoFan, the Lakeland side will be ridiculously packed. Those stands may hold 500-600. Then add in the band.......I'm thinking I may wear neutral clothing and sit on the Armwood side.

State lost a fine coach to retirement today.  Bill Kramer retired after 22 years as head coach at Naples High. Won a title in '01 (first in SW Florida) & '07, at a school that had two winning sessions in the previous 16 years. Sent lots of kids into better lives, many of which were able to play football at another level, with a few in the league still today. Put Christ first, and was humble enough to see his flaws. Great family man, who has been a tremendous mentor to many a coach.

    Just to add.....
As of this afternoon, Lakeland sold out of their allotment of tickets. So, the only way to get tickets now is at Armwood, or through GoFan with the "super secret" promo code: ArmwoodPlayoff
Armwood has stated that no tickets will be sold at the gate.

Going to do my best to compile a list of available streams, both free and paid (NFHS), for each week of the season. There is nothing like sitting in the stands watching a high school football game. BUT, there is also nothing like a sitting on the couch, cold beer in hand, streaming 5-10 of the best games in the state NFL RedZone-style. If you know of any other streams, please let me know so that I can update the original post. Here is what I've got so far:

I'm pretty certain this was it. There was an article in the 9/10/1912 Tampa Tribune about Hillsborough not having any challenges and specifically mentioned Lakeland not fielding a team. I think the Ft. Meade game was an attempt. The newspaper article indicates the game was possibly played.....but awarded by forfeit to Ft. Meade.

Alot of research. Prior to the 1930's, record keeping wasn't the best. Plus, I think Lakeland lost a lot of their records when the original school burned down. Luckily, the newspapers have, for the most part, been digitized.

Yeah. So do I. Not sure where I got 8-0-1 from.
1908 - These results are kind of spotty. From what I can find, Lakeland went 3-1-1 with wins over Tampa (11-0), Orlando (Unknown score), and Plant City (unknown). Loss was to Tampa (5-12) and tie was to Orlando.
    1909 - Spotty as well. I have 2 Wins over Wachula (41-0 & 37-0), And a loss to HIllsborough (0-16). There were a couple of other games....but I haven't found scores yet.

Lakeland's biggest local 'Rivalries' (Kathleen, Winter Haven, Jenkins) have been quite lopsided. Not sure how much of a rival George Jenkins is to Lakeland, but proximity kind of dictates it. Many of the parents that lived in that area went to Lakeland (before GJ existed), and now their kids go to GJ.
Lakeland is 25-2 against Kathleen since 1993 (26 regular season games, 1 playoff game). Although Kathleen has seen some more recent success, beating Lakeland in 2013 & 2016.
Since 1993, Lakeland is 20-0 vs. Winter Haven
Since 1994, Lakeland is 22-1 vs. George Jenkins (GJ won in 2003).

Lakeland lost starting RB Cameron McCalpin in this game for the season with a broken foot. The running game didn't miss a beat as Earl Mothersill took over and proved himself as a power back.
Polk county had some good teams back then with Lakeland, Bartow & Auburndale. Auburndale would be Lakeland's only loss that season as the Bloodhounds beat the Naughts 24-20 in OT.

gwdrum75 reacted to OldSchoolLion in Lakeland vs Vero Beach Old School Video
As always, credit to our friend for posting this great game on youtube. This regular season game in 1986, Lakeland's homecoming, featured two of 5A's best(5A was the largest class then)  ...so much for Lakeland historically dodging good competition during the regular season.  How many teams schedule the #2 ranked team in the state for their homecoming?  Vero returned to Lakeland later in the season and played the Naughts for the region title(Lakeland won that game 37-6).   Imagine the rivalry we could have today if these two teams had kept playing over the years.
This was Lakeland's first state title team.  The Naughts made it to the state semis in 79, 82, and 84, and each time were knocked out by a team from Pensacola.  State champion Pensacola Woodham(school closed in 2007) came to Lakeland in 82 and 84 and took it to the home team.  The 80's were glory years for the Panhandle teams.
Fort Walton Beach was ranked #1 in 5A at the time and did not even make the playoffs that year.  And some folks today complain about their teams getting left out of the playoffs!  LOL   Manatee was a powerhouse in the 80's, but eventual state finalist Dunedin knocked them out in the first round.  Dunedin shocked the world that year, going down to Miami and beating Carol City in the state semis to make the finals, where they lost a heartbreaker to Lakeland 14-10.  (FYI Carol City met Dunedin in the 5A semis in 87 and the Falcons won that one, too!)
At the time, Northwestern, Carol City, Southridge and Columbus were all playing in 5A(only Southridge was ranked at the time of this game).  Needless to say, the 5A class back then was brutal.
Bartow was the #1 ranked 3A team at the time and was playing down the road this same night against highly-ranked 4A Auburndale.  My how times have changed!

A unique thing about Venice is that, I believe, they are the only High School in Venice. Much easier to keep your own players that way.
One thing that I haven't seen mentioned is the sheer number of high schools there are now in single cities. When Bill Castle took over Lakeland in '76, there were 2 high schools in Lakeland (Lakeland & Kathleen). At that time, Lakeland had a student population of 2613. Since that time, Lake Gibson, George Jenkins & Teneroc were built...and Lakeland Christian and Victory Christian started playing football. All of them ate into Lakeland's student population. So there are now a number of high school football programs in a concentrated area. Honestly, Lakeland is the most 'tradition rich' school in the area. Many (probably most) kids at other schools have parents/grandparents/great-grandparents who played/went to Lakeland. And, they usually want their kid to go there as well.
You can have kids living within walking distance from each other going to different schools. If they see one school with the chance to win a state championship and get them more exposure to college recruiters.........
