@Columbiahighfan Don't know if this can help you but I'll try my best. Booker T. Washington opened as a black school in 1926 and Central open in 1959 and became majority black in 1977 I'd wanna say. Booker T. went from 1967-1999 as a middle school then reopened as a high school 1999-2000 year. I don't know if they played each other back in the days, however present day starts from 2008. Central can easily drop 15,000 Booker T. I don't think can maybe 7,000. Anyways the last 2 years game's between them were good and both came in the top 2 teams in Florida and both were in the top 25. Over the last 8 years every game has been close except one year where Central won 17-0. As far as rivalry goes these are the best in Miami and running Miami at that. Now they don't have the classic battles at the Orange Bowl, Traz Powell or even FIU or 25,000 plus attendance crowd, but Traz Powell of the present is bringing some exciting games. Another thing I wanna add in is people only come out if you're winning. From the last 8 year's Central record is 80-12 with 4 state titles Booker T. record is 83-11 with 4 state titles and a national title.

Miami swings and misses big time in South Florida. Unreal how Miami can continue to stick with as inept of a coach as Al Golden.

See you was running your mouth saying Glades Central was gone be the champs in 4A and they weren't. 35-7 does that ring a bell and if Glades Central played Miramar right now they'd lose and badly at that. Oh and you don't need to tell me who I shouldn't or should be worrying about. I'm from Miami born and raised until I moved to Broward County and I support all schools especially inner city black one's and I remember when you were on here talking down on Booker T. Washington, but I guess you can't give it and take it lol.

Absolutely!!!!! Don't know all of the details so if I say anything please understand it is not to offend. I am truly sorry for this young person, his family, his friends and community and anybody that knew him. Very senseless and cowardly thing to do. Sometimes this world can be a b*tch!

Tragedy only made worse by not finding the responsible party. Compounded by nothing making sense. But just because nothing really ever happens doesn't meant it can't. Obviously. But random mess happens all the time. Some person could've somehow felt scared by this big kid and pulled his weapon on him in an instant and over....Smdh  

It still hurts us! You'll think cause he play football for the canes that case would of get solved... Smh!! But that dude was a dude that everybody love and respected.. That's why we don't understand why he got murdered and the area he got murder at...

Zoe I feel ya. I was ALL Hillsborough county too. Went to school there, played there, later coached there. Now I live in and work in Jacksonville. I still pull for my Hillsborough county teams (some more than others) but I also pull for Trinity Christian because I have nephews that go there. One graduated and plays at Florida, one is playing now, and one is about to move to JV level next season.
 
I can say that I truly have no dog in this fight. I respect both programs and absolutely LOVE the game of football and Florida HS football. I know sparks are gonna fly in that matchup! Central has knocked off some REALLY good teams so I know they have the ability. That's why I started the other thread about the team in 6A from Tampa that could potentially be the next round matchup. 
 
As far as this 4A matchup we'll see. It's hard to bet against Bolles. But I like BTW as long as they don't beat themselves. 

Man a lot of talk this season was about AHP. At least in certain circles. Then it became Clash of the Titans when AHP and AHD were gonna face off. That's maybe why I said that about AHP. But of course, you would have more local knowledge of those guys so interesting you say that. Mainland and Central will be a knockdown dragout IMO. But Central ain't no where near a joke! They have played and beaten some class!
 
Now since I'm from Hillsborough county I wanted to see if there was ANY knowledge out here on those boys from the Panhandle Chocta who whatsitz called.... Lol. Armwood is a NASTY football team. So if they handle their business like I think they will then the Championship is gonna be a certified humdinger! Because if your boys handle Mainland, Armwood vs Central for the gold medal! WOW.   

I'd be willing to give you some of those but they've also handled some pretty good teams. Namely American Heritage Plantation. They hung 42 on them. Then their performance in the playoffs. But either way, it's gonna be good. Really hard to argue with the Miami schools since they have to beat up on each other. SEC football comes to mind in that you win the SEC there's a good chance you can win anywhere. Same with some of those Miami schools. 
 
The Mainland QB is only a sophomore I believe.

Then if you know that about that coaching staff at BTW I now have nothing but respect for them also. As people. Hearing that is fantastic! I will always pull for coaches that do things the right way and look at their kids as more than what can you do for me on Friday night. The game of football is a wonderful vessel to use to teach and learn valuable life lessons. To teach our young men to be responsible, respectful, contributing members of society.

Not impressed with the O? Wow. Them boys average like 40 a game? Granted, I know what that means in the big picture but they also only give up like 8. Central scores around 36 a game but gives up close to 12. 
 
I can see this thing going either way. I've seen Mainland and they can play! 

Man nobody said anything about them blowing anybody out. What people have been saying is how much of a juggernaut they are and can anybody stop them. They've played a veritable who's who and won them ALL. They are winners, hands down. They put their pants on one leg at at time just like everyone else but until somebody knocks off the giant they are favorites! I merely implied that Cocoa played them tight and showed they aren't untouchable. 

Sucks for Miramar such a proud program with great athletes and now this. I am following JT Wilcox's twitter and man it seems like they are just angry because the school board is giving them no answers. Sadly, the kids and even other school are getting punished for the mistakes of adults. 
I do agree with the mass exodus of players from Miramar. Carol City will be enjoying some nice new players next season if they are banned from the 2015 playoffs as well. 

I have decided to bring the Weekly Pick'ems to end. According to the Sun Sentinel rumors are stating that the former Miramar Coach and the Norland High School AD are reporting that star Wide Receiver and West Virginia commit Jovon Durante transferred from Norland High School with a 1.67 GPA and chose not to attend summer school.  Durante, allegedly then transferred to Miramar where his GPA was "fixed' to a 2.27 which made him eligible to compete this season for Miramar.  Again, these are just allegations that the Sun Sentinel is reporting.  If this is true, my only question for the Miramar coach is why are you concerned about Durante's GPA now?

Flanagan has never been district champs nor beat Miramar in school history so to do both in the same season is remarkable but the praises for Flanagan stops here. Nobody can sit here and tell me that blowing leads in the game midway during the 3rd going into the 4th quarter is acceptable. In my honest opinion we should be sitting here 9-0 not 6-3 fighting for our playoffs lives. Also when you have players on the sideline fighting each other because I've witnessed that twice and coaches talking to the players any kind of way is unacceptable, not to mention all the trash talking that goes on across the internet which is not a good way to be teaching these young men. I'll say this I am completely shocked for this to be happening and I get that a lot of people are complaining saying why couldn't this occur after the playoffs well.... if coach Strout is stinking up the joint now what make you think he won't continue. On a continued note Miramar doesn't have a good alumni and blacks didn't start being the majority until 1994 or so going down so this sudden change had to come from the parents and the community. I don't know if you guys know but Mayor Mosley of Miramar and Miramar's principal comes to all the game well the big ones. Now on to coach Cogdell. See when he was at Miramar we went 65-13 and not once did we blow a 16 point lead, 5 point lead and a 15 point lead. Now I'll admit some games like the playoff ones should have been won Palm Beach Gardens and Northeast but overall we didn't have all this commotion and trust me when I say this which is I'm not mad at Cogdell for leaving. Cogdell received a once in a lifetime opportunity that a lot of high schools coaches want and will never receive playing at college level and for the school they played for. Anyways I believe I've expressed myself clearly and concise on why coach Strout was abruptly fired now let's finish with the remarks and criticism because I know it's coming lol.......

Neither of them will beat Central.

I have very little help right now (if any at all) and I just let it slip on the Pick'ems.
 
Content creation is the highest priority right now and the Pick'ems are just lower than that. 
 
I am trying to do my best, but site traffic and views are the most importance right now and that is coming through the creation of content and keeping folks on the site. 
 
Weeks 9, 10 & 11, I want you all to suggest some games to me that you all would like to see. We will do playoff pick'ems as well (we will have an idea two weeks out of the games for round one so this won't be an issue knowing which games we will post).
 
But, back to the entire issue, I just don't have the help that I need to make the extra small things run like this and I can't ask an intern to this, especially since it is not part of their contract. I don't believe in having interns do the dirty work for the most part unless its part of the learning part they are doing for their credit hours. Running a Pick'em is not part of that.
