We are not a very good football team right now.  We are improving, but lets be honest, Miami is garbage and we were not even able to beat them, so we got a lot of work to do.

C'mon Peezy, since 1980 Canes and Gators have each had only 2 losing regular seasons...not that bad.  You jus worried they gonna do away with the backpack if things don't work out right this year.  Maybe they could try this next year instead.  LOL 

All of these programs can be competitive with the right person leading the program. I have no sympathy because there are many schools doing better with less.

Very physical game. I see Roland Smith has not changed his philosophy over the years. Same guy as he was 17 years ago.  

Zoe Boy...I think there was an advantage before computers and polls got a lot of press.  STA had some great teams with great talent back in the 1980's and got beat by Broward teams...and not just DB and Miramar.  I would not be surprised if kids today get completely psyched out reading all the hype. 
Back in the day, you might here about one good player from a team and you sure as heck didn't know how many "stars" the players on the other team had.  It could be a struggle to get game films for a playoff.  And when the game was over, kids didn't spend the next week gloating on twitter about how they beat the #23 team in the state. 
Kids just showed up and played whoever was on the other side of the field.  I saw games between teams that were absolute mismatches on paper, but I swear because the kids did not know any better they played just like it was "some other team."  That is the mentality kids need to today.    
 
 

I am here at the FHSAA offices this morning listening in on the latest of the FHSAA Classification Policy for other sports outside of football.
But there is a lot of interest it seems from people on here to know what is going on. I am keeping this on the main forum that way people can keep track of what is going on.

I’ve been to Texas before.. Dallas to be exact beautiful city but it doesn’t compare to Miami or sfla period.. Most of the ppl work getting off at 5 trying to hurry up to get to a football game in this crazy ass traffic then gotta find parking..  

If it isn't packed right at the start but a ton of people are in line to get into the game then who cares 
 
Idk how things are in Texas but just because they will sit in stands for 2 hours before the game over there don't mean that everywhere has to do that to have a good fan base for a game
 
Some people have jobs and can't get there 2 hours early

Miami Central’s offense in the late 3rd and 4th quarter was a thing of absolute BEAUTY!   They spread it out crazy wide and just did what they wanted.   I’m not going to eat crown on the loss because Only fools thought MC had no chance, but I will eat crow on Underwood.  Lol did I say he hated to run with the ball?!  Oops!  Talk about an unexpected wrinkle that murdered sta on 3rd downs.   
MC completely outcoached STA down the stretch.  Why would STA punt the ball down 2 scores w/ 5 min left with MC’s O going full on super saiyen?!

What you talking bout? The game was not full? That’s funny it was standing room only and I came in at the second qt and ppl was still lined up out side with ppl out side the gate that didn’t even enter... This game should of been at Lockhart cause you know STA ain’t coming to traz..

And I see people post that Dade County coaches are not that great.  BS

The thing is STA might be loaded at positions but it don’t be the best of the best players... To me the edge that the Dade kids have is they don’t see the star rated crap... to them the feel like they all are 5 stars even tho it don’t show on paper... Theve been like that since Lil league... STA has does type of players too , all of sfla is like that imo...

Their not unbeatable and when they do play teams that’s even got half the talent (on paper) it would be a dawg fight or a possible lost... Schools like MC , Deerfield , Miramar, MNW Booker T and others look to playing STA cause they get that praise and plus they not scared of STA... A lot of schools not scared of them I would say down here .. As the past few loses they sufferd was the enept offense qb play they have been getting n tomorrow night the best qb on the field is gonna be on the MC side..

Then idk what your talking about cause it’s not bombs after bombs after bombs.. They run a route tree like every school those... They wouldn’t be no 1000 yard backs in Dade County if they do that... Don’t mistake catch and run for bombs all the time.. I tell you i see more bubble screens then “BOMBS”....

Zoe Boy,  my comment to Panther earlier was simply to demonstrate that not all Dade teams just throw the ball up with a prayer and rely upon athleticism to catch it. As an example, one of my favorite games of the modern era was the BTW vs Armwood state semi in 2004, which I attended at Armwood.  BTW had very good athletes and they also had a coach at the time (Ice Harris) who figured out how to use them most effectively.  
Washington was still pretty new on the FL playoff scene and Harris introduced a game plan that was very calculated...and exciting to watch.  It was a coaching duel between two great coaches...Callahan and Harris.  That Armwood team was incredible.  Their defense was lights out...very physical and pretty fast for the time.  Washington was the only one to get close to them in the playoff that year and should have beat them.
Even with the fantastic athletes Washington had then, they were not going to "outathlete" that Armwood defense.  Washington had a very balanced attack and a great game plan that allowed them to nearly win that game.  So, yes south FL has some extraordinary athletes, but over the years they have also had extraordinary coaches, too.  And I think coaching is going to become even more important today because with the rise of the Orlando area teams, Miami teams are not going to simply blow them away with speed and athleticism.
