  1. Class 4A Playoff Scenarios

About the halfway point of the season, we realized something had to be done to make sure 1-9 and 2-8 teams would not make the playoffs. We started thinking of ways to change the playoff system under the current structure of the playoffs.

*Rather than send a 3-7 Eagles View team from the North I decided to send Seffner Christian (6-4) who would have missed the playoffs and put them in the North bracket.

  4. About halfway through the season, Josh and I started talking about the possibilities of several 1-9, 2-8 and 3-7 teams making the playoffs this year.

We started thinking of ways to change the playoff system without having to change the playoff system under the current structure.

After much thought, we came up with a way to make sure Northview, Jay, Maclay, FAMU, Eastside, Belleview and etc.. couldn't make our playoff system.

    CLASS 1A

No. 7 Dixie County (7-2) at No. 2 Madison County (7-3)

Pahokee's opponents record is better than Fort White's, thus breaking the tie.

    Positives
--No long road trips by dividing bracket into North/South
--Financially makes sense close proximities for each round

    Negatives
--Not having top teams in state play in Final Four or in state title
--Potential of teams in same district meeting in Round 1 or Round 2
  5. We are aware the AP is releasing their All-State football teams all this week, however since Christmas Day we have been working on our All-State teams as well.

Unlike the AP we will include 9 classes, Independents, 1A-8A.

Each classification will comprise of several teams on it as well as most important stats, explaining why the kids were selected. In addition to the all-state teams, there will be Offensive and Defensive POYs and Coach of the Year, not necessarily going by the Dairy Farmer winners.

    Stay tuned....

  6. Starting in 2016 untiI further notice I would like to see a playoff system within the Independents.

  9. No doubt you can't mention great rivalries without talking about Raines/Ribault and Palatka/St. Augustine.

Raines and Ribault are a block from each other, Ribault use to be the predominant white school, while Raines was the predominant black school. Since the late 70s, this rivalry played on Saturday afternoon every year, features kids who grew up on the same block and attended the same church but represent either Carolina Blue or Maroon Red. The two attend church the Sunday before the game, they have a parade the day of the game that winds around the same neighborhoods and battle it out in several sports during the week like basketball, volleyball and soccer, etc. The Northwest Classic Trophy is at stake each year as is a district title making this one of the best games to attend every year in the Jacksonville area.

The states second oldest rivalry is played every year between Palatka and St. Augustine. The two small towns go all out for this game each year and not only honor the home schools senior class but the visitor senior class as well. While no trophy is at stake, the two are often in the same district and playing for a playoff spot on the line.

  10. Here is an up to date Kickoff Classic list of statewide games. If you see any games that have wrong information let us know.

NOTE: This list may not be copied or duplicated in any way without the writers permission. Spent several hours working on this list I do not want to see it on another web site or newspaper without my permission.
