  1. It really doesn't matter at this point. They are playing for it so someone has to find a way to beat them. I don't think they will be 1A after this year so their window may be closing for their title.
  2. They should beat N Marion, they got their best player along with a few others since the spring. Vanguard is loaded with talent and athletes but we'll see how far the coaching can take them. I expect them to look great until they play the elite teams like Armwood and that will probably wind up their year.
  3. Pretty sure I called this one Madison is the dawg in 1A so it seems. Going to be tough to beat the cowboys the way it looks.
  4. Appreciate the recap Jungle, I know Newberry has the pieces to be good. Nice to see them putting them in the right places to be successful. Should be interesting moving forward.
  5. Now Columbia don't get all upset, just take your medicine this week and move on. Your boys are 1-2 and as bad as you want to count the Apopka game it doesn't. I'm sure you guys will be ok when district play rolls around.
  6. I guess what I'm trying to say Proset is that 4A was very weak last year. You take Raines and Bolles out of the North and you don't have much as far as elite teams. Santa Fe, Dunnellon and S Sumter were all good teams but nothing that scares you. You take away their wins vs each other and the best win out of all of those teams is Santa Fe vs a 6-5 Chiles team. As for Newberry they have the pieces to be good we'll see if it translates on the field.
  7. Santa Fe isn't very good. They are a 5A team that petitioned to move down to 4A into the weakest district maybe in the state. They made the 4A semi finals last year and Newberry beat them by 2 scores last year. After that they proceeded to get blown out by Union, Dixie and obliterated by Trenton. By the way last year was the first district title for Santa Fe in like 20 years.
  8. Long trip out to the panhandle for the Tigers. They have only played the one full game with Wakulla with the other 2 getting called because of weather at the half. Hard to get the offense on track without games and St Joe is always tough on D.
  9. Newberry is always riding high at this point because they always beat Santa Fe. This is usually when they are brought back down to earth. Talent has never been the question in Newberry it has been coaching. We'll see if they can reach their potential this year. All that being said I still think UC has their number. Union Co 26 Newberry 19
  10. I think most folks think highly of Pahokee overall. However beating an 8A team or whatever doesn't make you good. We heard a lot of this talk last year from Pahokee and Ft Meade about how they didn't play 1A teams and this and that and we saw what happened in the playoffs(1st round losers). If a team sucks it doesn't matter if they are 1A or 5A and if a team is good it goes the same way. Depth is the main thing when you start taking the best from 1A and the best from larger classes. I would guess if you take the top 10-12 players off the teams they would be close to equal, but the players 12-20 that start making a difference. As for Pahokee playing with 2015 Trenton, I think you need to get a grip brother. Wasn't anybody playing with that bunch last year. They running clocked 13 of 14 teams, think about that before posting next time. Closest game was 9 points and they took a knee inside the 5 to run out the clock.
  11. What was the score at halftime? You should be able to play starters until the half. After that you need to take the foot off the gas
  12. East Ridge didn't want to try to find a week 1 game at the end of July. I'm sure if they had a game they may have let them out. Like the man said, poor scheduling by Central.
  13. I was there, saw it in person. I remember Columbia played a great game but it was evident who the supremely talented team was. Columbia got out to a lead but I remember watching the game with the feeling of waiting on a damn to break. Credit to Columbia for scrapping and clawing and holding on as long as they did. In the end the better team pulled it out. Great game to watch!
  14. Oh my gosh Columbiafan, you're driving me crazy. EVERYBODY plans on being physical to a degree. The problem is when the other person hits back and harder alot of times the original aggressor backs down and has had enough. Sure Columbia beat up on a school 4A(Bolles 779) with less than half of its own population 7A(Columbia 1900). Do you want a cookie, maybe we hold an award ceremony for the big regular season wins that Columbia get because they NEVER do it in the postseason. When teams can match physicality and have athletes, that is a really good team. IMG had the athletes but wasn't ready to match the physicality of AH. Just watch the Booker T game vs the Utah team a few years ago. Great illustration of Booker T having way more athletes but that school made it a tough physical game and almost won. Oh by the way, IMG would have destroyed Columbia. The same Viera that throttled Columbia at home lost to Cocoa who IMG beat by 40!!! Careful what you wish for.
  15. Easy 1A Madison Co 2A University Christian 3A Trinity Christian 4A Booker T Washington Lock it in. Guaranteed at least 75% success on those pics.
  16. The counties set the stipend for the assistant coaches. Some counties choose to pay their head coaches as a administrator some don't.
  17. If you coach for the money you are going backwards. It probably works out to about $2 a hour if you figured it out. You do it because you love it. Now I'm not saying it shouldn't be more but everyone knows what the deal is. I don't get paid to go hunting or fishing and they are my hobbies but coaching you do get something at least .
  18. I would have to say Trenton, Andrew Thomas left for the winningest program in the state of Alabama. He went 60-5 played in 3 state title games and won 2 rings in 5 years while in Trenton. Not sure if any of the above listed have a resume that looks like that.
  19. Well the coaches post the Scores and stats to maxpreps so you would think they would know. But you may be right. What I do know for certain is the final score was 42 for Viera, 23 for Columbia. No disputing that I'm sure. Like I said, tallest midget in the room. 😃
  20. Look, the score was 35-17 per maxpreps at the start of the 4th qtr. Columbia scored 6 and Viera scored 7 in the 4th qtr, so even if you scored your 6 first it's not a 4 point game. If you scored first that makes the score 35-23 still a 2td game. So your story sounds good it just doesn't seem to be true. Long story short Columbia football equals the tallest midget in the room.
  21. Viera was the best team by far Columbia played in the regular season or playoffs. As for special teams being the reason you guys lost, please don't start with the excuses. Viera led the game 35-17 going into the 4th qtr. Viera had 239 yards passing and 215 yards rushing for a total of 454 yards of offense and 42 points. They pretty much did whatever they wanted on offense and Columbia couldn't stop them. Viera made Columbia one dimensional and completely stopped the run game, and just a reminder that was a 5 loss Viera team. So Columbia lost to a 5 loss Viera and a 6-4 Escambia with Columbia's best win being over 9-3 4A Bolles who lost in the 2nd round. It is what it is!!
  22. I would expect them to win the district and again in the playoffs
  23. Vanguard is LOADED with talent but has average coaching at best. They will probably lose to Armwood in the regional finals despite having at least as much talent. I believe that Vanguards entire secondary are D1 kids. They have torn it up at team 7v7 camps this summer.
  24. The same team that was the runner up last year in that district and added a state champion coach, Jefferson Co. Bell beat Lafayette last year by 2 Tds, unfortunately for Lafayette they may have a streak of non playoff appearances on their hands. I mean really, Lafayette lost to Jefferson 54-0 last year and went 3-7 and you said they "have a legitimate chance to win state" not bashing Lafayette but come on, really?? Columbiafan, Madison is the Alpha in 1A, last year was a aberration with that Trenton team. You will see the Trentons', Ft Meade and Dixie's bubble to compete with Madison from time to time but the constant will be Madison Co. Too big a talent pool to choose from year in and year out. They graduated 26 seniors last year and have 20+ seniors again. Let me give you Trentons'senior classes the last 5 years, 6,6,11,9,17, it don't compare. When you got more horses you probably got a better chance to win the race.
