Are we still going to play Dr Phillips on rd 2

To be honest, I think DP gets bounced in round 1 if they play either Treasure Coast or Centennial. DP has fallen badly since winning the title last year. They sleepwalked through the Apopka game and really did not play as if they wanted to win.

Basically Vero have the number one seed wrapped up...

Correct. VB will be home till at least the semifinals. I am not sure whether Region 1 or 2 hosts this year, but believe it's Region 2. So VB could be home till the State Title game in Orlando if they make it there.

    Strictly for feedback again:

As a Vero fan, one thing I can tell everyone is that both Centennial and Treasure Coast  impressed the hell out of me this year.

It looks as though these two will join Vero in the playoffs (3 out of the 4 teams in this district) and I for one would pick them over the higher seeded team they’re playing, as it stands now they’re 3-4 in the region points standing, but due to the fact they won’t win the district due to losing to Vero, would most likely end up as the 5-6 seeds.

This may be the biggest blessing in disguise for VB. For the first time in forever, VB has had solid district competition. This may actually benefit VB in the playoffs since they have had: Venice and Pahokee in addition to Centennial and Treasure Coast. In the most recent past, VB has coasted only to get bumped by solid playoff teams early.

great story but she is 14 for 18 on extra points.  That's not real good.

Yes, but 52-60 from the prior year is not bad at all (Just under 90%). Outside of Brett Wilson 2011/12 and Blackmon from the 2001 team, I can't think of another Apopka kicker that topped that. A couple may have been about that, but I don't think any were better.

He and I had great debates and conversations on Dallas Jackson's National Board, but DJ shut it down a few years ago.

Let him know I hope all is well.

I will do that. Were you Lakeland Gator on that board? I want to be sure he knows it's you.

Mainland has outscored New Smyrna Beach 206-14 the past 4 years.  Think Coach Wilkinson will have the Barracudas ready this year?

Yes, I expect this to be a close game. I think Mainland wins, but would not be surprised is NSB took it. Mainland is a bit down by their standards and NSB is on the rise.

I'm looking forward to us doing what we have to so i can get my first taste of state finals

Although I have not seen your Tigers live yet, from the video and the results, Columbia has as good a chance of any 7A team in the North Bracket to make it to Orlando.

STA is always a difficult team to beat, assuming they represent the South. However, although this STA team is very, very good, they don't strike me as one of their best teams over the past 20 years. So if Columbia makes Orlando, they would certainly have a legitimate chance to win the State Title.

  8. Those rankings seem reasonably fair. I think Edgewater may be overrated, but I understand why you have them at 2. They are undefeated and till they lose you give them the benefit of the doubt. I think all of the first 10 teams on the list are fairly close and on any given night could probably beat each other.

It is shocking to see DP not on the list. I am not saying they deserve to be for they don't, at least not at this stage. But to see a top 16 not include DP just shows how far the team has fallen in the space of a season. I saw their spring game and the Apopka game. From those two, I though they had plenty of talent. But especially in the Apopka game, their kids did not seem motivated. It was as if they kind of sleepwalked through it. Usually DP/APK is very intense and in a sense had replaced the APK/Edgewater game as a rivalry.

I agree. The fact we won at their place which is very tough to do being they get the epitome of home cooking and since that lost to us they haven't lost since

IT makes that win for Dillard seem a lot better. Most were probably writing Western off as one season team after the loss.

Things got real interesting in 8a last night plantation who have been picked by many polls to make a deep playoff run and have looked every bit of that coming into last night.

Western who came in 5-1 winners of 4 in a row was determined to have something to say about that with their only lost being at home to Dillard.

Western jumped out 14-0 and cruised to a 21-7 win.

That Miramar Western game is gonna be something.

Seems Western did not fall much, if at all, from last year.

Y'all just don't get small town football.  Each of these programs,  and you can throw Clewiston, Labelle and Wauchula in there too, have a culture.  Often times coaches are hired and starting players are picked on how well they fit with the culture.  We all deal with it. Some off us have been blessed enough not to let it completely control everything.

Then I guess these programs get what they want. For me I would want my team to be as good as it can be, year in and year out. Don't get me wrong, if a kid is totally undisciplined and a distraction, I don't want him becoming a cancer to the program. But to pick your starters based on stuff like whose kid it is, or whether his daddy is a prominent booster club member, is straight up BS.

These south Florida results are very unlikely. They appear to have been reversed. Can anyone verify?

Lake Worth 49, Boca Raton 0

Westland Hialeah 55, Miami Springs 0

    Thanks

According to the Miami Herald, Miami Springs was the winner of the game against Westland Hialeah by 51-0. I could not find another source for the Lake Worth Boca Raton game, but I agree the score looks suspicious.

Draw a triangle using Arcadia, Okeechobee and Avon Park as the 3 points.  Over the past 50 years...

    Desoto County High-2 playoff wins

    Okeechobee-4 playoff wins

    Lake Placid-0 playoff wins

    Sebring-2 playoff wins

Avon Park-won back-to-back state titles in 1987-1988 and made the state semis in 1997..only 4 playoff wins outside those years

Sounds like poor gene pool then. Strange ...

6AOkeechobee is 0-5 and has been outscored 218-37.  In 2016, Okeechobee finished the season with 8 wins...only the sixth time the Brahmans did that since the program began in 1924.  Those six years were 1974, 1981, 1988, 1989, 2008, 2016.  They have had two opportunities to finish a season with nine wins...in 1981 and 1988...but in each case, Clewiston held them back.  They are 2-8 in FHSAA playoff games and their last win was in 1996.

I have always found this difficult to comprehend. I have been to the town a few times and it is the poster child for the type of rural program that usually (or at least in the past) fields a good, strong football team, if for no other reason that it's the only game in town and kids would not be distracted by "other activities." Today I could understand with the urban teams for reasons discussed in other threads on this board tend to dominate.

But for an Okeechobee to have never had a consistently good program begs the question, is it coaching, lack of interest or just a "poor football gene pool" in the area?

You think seedings change tho or you think things are pretty much finalized

Under this system, nothing is finalized till the final regular season games are played, as points standings keep changing based both on your performance and also the performance of the teams you have played. It is a crazy system. The only thing certain at this point is that VB will play at least its first playoff game at home!

And why would VB have to go on the road for the playoffs?  If things stay the way they are now, VB should be hosting as long as they stay in the playoffs.

He probably meant if VB lost after rereading his post only that makes sense.
