  1. That right there, seems like a miscarriage of justice. I guess they were in the toughest district in the region and lost a critical district game.
  2. Lake Mary graduates their best receivers. But they have decent youngsters and I would be surprised if a receiver or three does not show up at their doorsteps given who will be throwing to them.
  3. If that game is on, I would travel 100 miles to see it. So, if it's at Cocoa and I am still in Florida, I will be there.
  4. Oviedo has a great offense, but their defense is their weakness. Led Lake Mary for almost a half. So, Heritage's loss to them is not a huge blemish.
  5. Not many. I could make a case for Wekiva in 3M, as they played both Edgewater and especially Apopka tough, and also scored more than 40 against Jones. So, if they were in the playoff I think they would have a decent chance of making the Regional final and maybe the semis. They would have to be at their very best, have their 4 star defensive tackle motivated and healthy, and their coaching situation fully resolved. But if all of the above were in good order, on any given night, they could probably beat any team in the region.
  6. I will maintain an open mind on Heritage. Like you said they did not have a strong schedule. Because of that, I have a hard time figuring out in my head how good they really are. The same applied to Lake Mary for those that had not seen them through about game 6 or 7. But being an Orlando area guy, and having seen them last year, knowing what they brought back, coupled with looking at their videos before going to see them live, I realized they were going to be an extremely tough out in the regular season and playoffs and had as good a chance as any to win a state title in 4M which does not have an Aquinas or Norland/Central/American Heritage or Chaminade or Cocoa standing in the way.
  7. And the above further bolster my argument that if we are to remain with the current system, interested parties need to be given the formula. There are just too many instances where things "look implausible." For all I know, they may follow the math implied by the algorithm they use to the tee. But based on what it's spitting out, I sure as heck want to see it.
  8. If they were not cheated at Brian Piccolo, they would be 10-0. Instead they lost by a point as St. Thomas got several seconds of free time to get into field goal range and win. St. Thomas also had uncalled penalties near the end of their final drive, I believe. Not sure how Chaminade factors in this.
  9. Probably something even more ridiculous. We may end up looking back at the current situation as: "The good old days."
  10. Darter/Ray, here's my prediction: in the not-too-distant future, one of the private schools (STA, CCC, Jesuit, Berkeley, Columbus, etc.) is going to end up on the outside of the top 8 in their region or end up having to play on the road against a team that's seeded higher than they are, but shouldn't be (in their minds). At that point, the second-string guard's father, who works for a downtown law firm, will agree to take on the case at little or no expense to the school. They'll start with a public records request, but likely will have to file a lawsuit when the FHSAA stonewalls them. It won't do the school any good, as the playoffs will long since be over with by the time the matter gets resolved. And to further complicate matters, the FHSAA may decide, at that point, to implement a new rankings system in an effort to make the matter moot. Just a hunch. Thanks for putting this into "Perspective." I think you are spot on with your forecast of what's likely to happen.
  11. Perhaps some sort of compromise could be struck where the billing could be based on a reduced rate. At least this way counsel would not have to eat the costs and time incurred.
  12. You have some pretty tough games on that list, my man. I am probably facing elimination already!
  13. We both know that win or lose, Osceola will very likely fully extend Treasure Coast.
  14. I think some interested party should mount a legal challenge. At the very least, it may make them think twice about how they are currently doing things.
  15. Just to let you know if @nolebull813 includes this game in the playoff bracket competition, I am going with the Panthers this time.
  16. I for one, would not want to face Osceola in a round 1, game. Give me an easy game before the grind starts!
  17. You are smarter than you think. They are many highly educated people (I can vouch for this) that are deficient between the ears. An education gives one the trappings of being intelligent, but in reality, if you are born dumb, an education is not going to make you smart. It may make you more knowledgeable and it certainly opens up doors that would otherwise bel closed, but your overall intelligence is likely determined at conception barring exposure to something toxic like too much lead during the formative years.
  18. Dan, you and I will always be cool. In some sense we are brothers by a different mother.
  19. Dan, such small errors at large clients were deemed: "de minimis" for evaluation purposes, and were rightfully disregarded. An error in pairings or the exclusion of a worthy team altogether, is not insubstantial and warrants righteous indignation! My best bet is that in many instances they factored "transportation costs and travel time" into several of the first round pairings. But if they are allowed to get away with that, it's a short journey to doing actual "untoward" things if we don't have transparency.
  20. Vero actually got the best draw possible under the circumstances. They should be happy with it.
  21. As a youngster (relatively speaking), I expect your memory to be razor sharp!
  22. Regardless, even if the pairings are, in fact, okay, it's situations like this that warrant more transparency in how the rankings are determined. The exact formula used needs to be made public if I am to have confidence that they are doing this thing correctly.
