im trying real hard to figure out why you care so much?  is your team in sub urban and your super butt hurt? or is your team in metro and you can figure out why you wont win a state title now?  if the answer is neither, you are really emotional about this.
suburban doesnt help the suburban teams as much as everyone/anyone thinks.  metro still will be majority of same teams winning anyways.
it hurts the middle of the road teams in both classes and lumps them with alot of the same districts they were already in
    or
lumps them with teams they were not going to beat regardless of any class.
the 5-5 teams will still be 5-5
the 9-1 teams will still be 9-1
get rid of school choice, which wont happen, is the only real solution to the recruiting issue we have in the state.  put back in the 365day mandatory sitout period for transfers. major major fines for coaches, suspensions, etc.
    may get something straight here.

Hey, we are talking about dozens of teams with a winning heritage that have challenged for championships and even won some.  Pine Forest, Escambia, Pensacola Washington, Niceville, Wakulla, Columbia, St. Augustine, Manatee, Sarasota Riverview, Naples, Cocoa, Rockledge, Merritt Island, Lake Gibson, Mainland and many others.  Yes, it also includes Lakeland, Venice and Osceola.  We don't want to avoid Apopka, DP, Seminole, Columbus and other championship contenders as we regularly schedule them in the past and will do so in 2022.  You want to demean these teams with a winning culture dating back way before the transfer became an issue.   But instead have a consolation prize for whatever school you represent with no such track record.  Best to take your own advice and go independent.

It can get pretty cold up here in Tallahassee in November and December.  According to the weather forecast it's going to be wet and chilly this Friday night...and it's only early November.  I'll be dressing accordingly!

Wakulla lost to Ed White 20 - 13.  Wakulla was missing 9 players this week...I guess with covid contact tracing in play it's going to be like this every week.  From week to week you don't know who's going to be missing and what team you're going to be fielding.  Add 6 turnovers to missing players and you can usually count on a loss. lol

@muckboy561 I had planned on going to the Wakulla - Leon game but then found out that Wakulla was holding out some starters (pretty much their whole starting OL) so I decided not go to...plus it was a kickoff classic that they don't take very seriously and it was hot! lol

They are pretty good.  Wakulla played them for a half in the spring and tied 14 - 14.  Wakulla gave up a long td pass late in the game on a busted coverage.  I would not be surprised to see TCA win this one.  I guess it depends on how serious your coaching staff takes these kickoff classics.

Yes that is very true.  I can remember when Wakulla won in 1980 and 1981 their toughest game was always against a north Florida team that they would meet in the first round of the playoffs.  Back in those days only the district champion advanced to the playoffs and state championships were played on campus.  Two years in a row Wakulla had to travel.  One year they played at Clermont and the next year at Clewiston.  They won both games pretty easily.
One of the best games I remember from that era was in 1981.  Wakulla played Bolles in the semifinals.  Bolles had talked a lot of trash the week leading up to that game.  They did not expect to get beat and Wakulla blasted them 38-0.  Wakulla had a great team that year.  They had 8 shutouts heading into that game with Bolles.  They shut them out and then shut out Clewiston 24-0 in the state championship to finish the season with 10 shutouts.  Thinking back on it...that was pretty impressive.
I don't know what the answer is but I do wish something could be done about all of the transferring.  It's going to ruin high school football.  It's definitely not just private schools.  In a lot of cases you end up playing against an all star team from a metro area where probably over half of the kids on that team would be attending a different high school if they based it on where the kids actually live.

Hey @Jesse I miss the old rivalry between Wakulla and Blountstown.  You're too young to remember but those were some great games back in the mid 70's and early 80's.  Blountstown was a powerhouse.  Both teams won state championships during those era's.  Jefferson County had some great teams in the early 80's when the Massey brothers were carrying the ball.

That is absolutely mind boggling...the one thing that keeps me hopeful for us is that there just isn't that much available land space to develop in Wakulla.  When you look at a map the vast majority of the county is national forest.  US 319 is the main corridor coming from Tallahassee.  That is pretty much the main area that can be developed....and boy oh boy that will become a huge mess if it isn't developed properly.

It will be in the northern part of the county close to the Leon County line.  There is a lot of growth in that area.  They have two elementary schools and a middle school in that area.  I'm pretty sure they already have the property set aside for the new high school as well.  I'm just hoping it takes a long time to get to that 2,000 student threshold.
Yes the two titles they won were back when they were in 2A.  In today's world that would equate to 1A.  All of those teams they played are still about the same size today and are playing in the 1A class.

It's amazing that Lee or Pinellas has never had a state champion.  I can remember when Wakulla High was the same size as Blountstown, Port St. Joe etc...they were in the same district for years.  The population growth is exploding in Wakulla right now...i guess that is good and bad.  Wakulla High has close to 1500 students.  They will be 6A within the next few years.  It's a matter of time before another high school is built and that is the part I hate the most.  It's so good when everyone goes to the same high school and the entire county is supporting the one team.  I've heard they won't consider building a new high school until the enrollment reaches 2,000.

Yes...Duke Johnson was unstoppable.  Didn't they also have an OL that played or maybe still playing in the NFL?  I think his last name was Flowers??
It's funny...that Wakulla team was very average at the beginning of the season but just continued to get better as the year went on.  No doubt Norland was the better team though.  The Wakulla team the following year was a much better team.  They went undefeated in the regular season and lost to Godby 14-7 in the second round.  They had beaten Godby pretty handily about 3 weeks earlier.  Godby went on to win the 5A state championship.  That was one that got away...they probably would have won a state championship that year.
