After all those great teams, I’ve never seen a program collapse to that degree........

They will always be well coached and have athletes as long as Cory Moore is the coach.

I missed this message. I would have loved to have been there. THe old school cookouts were something I always looked forward to. Nothing like that in South Florida.

So, some guardedly good news on my brother in law. He has been transferred to a rehab facility after testing thrice negative for the virus. While sick, he did suffer a mini-stroke. Hence, the rehab. But as of today, the worst may have passed.
When he completes the rehab, he has a standing invitation to come down to Central Florida for a month or two to complete his healing.

They tried to pull that Lawsuit BS on me a few years back I called their bluff and was ready to mess their whole day up if they were doing more than bluffing.

So, it looks like OldSchool last posted (and reacted to other posts) on December 10th. I have a theory that sometime the following day, he and Jesse went up to Madison County High School to do research for the sequels to his Greatest State Championship Team Ever thread and his Best FL HS Offense of each Decade thread. The sequels are "Greatest State Championship Team from Madison County" and "Best FL HS Offense of each Decade from Madison County."
He and Jesse wandered into the Madison County Public Library the morning of December 11th, armed with enough canned Vienna sausages, pork rinds and NeHi sodas to last them for weeks, as they knew the task before them would take many hours. They are currently holed up in a dusty basement looking at something called microfiche, which has yellowish-orangish images of stories from something the people used to call 'the sports section of a newspaper.'
They'll emerge with enough information to supply MadCo Trivia Questions until football starts up again next fall.
(At least that's what I'm hoping).

I was brought up in a household where my parents were at least nominally Christian. Moreover, Jamaica where I spent the first 27 years of my life,is predominantly Christian, despite the presence of Rastafarians. I assume that OldSchool would be Christian, practicing or not.

Cjm04 reacted to KeemD321 in Problems in Brevard County?
Bayside and Heritage being built took Palm Bay stranglehold of the whole southend of brevard away. Then alot of their talent transferred out. Along with their long time coach retiring.

Cjm04 reacted to gatorman-uf in Should Black Student-Athletes start attending HBCUs instead?
He is probably a one and done (if he decides to go at all). The NBA scouts will find him if he is as good as ESPN rates him (just like the scouts find the studs on a 2-8 HS football team). Again, it will be interesting to see long term. Especially if name, image, likeness means the players have greater agency over their own brand, then going to a small school might not matter as much if these players are able to cash in.

Cjm04 got a reaction from Perspective in Who Is This FL HS Legend? Pierre Garcon/JI Leonard
He went to John I. Was actually a much better soccer player than he was a football player in high school. He was an undersized TE that played in an offense that rarely if ever threw the ball. Everything he accomplished was due to his incomparable work ethic.

Cjm04 got a reaction from DarterBlue2 in Should Black Student-Athletes start attending HBCUs instead?
There is so much that goes into that decision. The ONLY HBCU with facilities that compete with the Power 5 schools is Alabama State. Today's kids are very keen on that. Today's kids are also keen on who is playing Saturday evening and night games. Football will not be the sport to kick off a renaissance in HBCU football. However, basketball and track and field could. HBCUs have guaranteed entry into the tournament just like everyone else if they win their conference, and many schedule Power 5 schools early in the year. In basketball you could get one great recruiting class and immediately challenge for supremacy in hoops and track and field.

You can do everything BUT workout. There are rules and all of the coaches should be aware of what they are. Virtual workouts are illegal, virtual coaching sessions are legal.

Because, if I typed what you asked me to type, I'd be lying. I hate, with every fiber of my body, EVERY last bit of partisan politics. Partisan politics is THE single greatest existential threat we face. Because, every other threat anyone is quick to suggest is a bigger threat is unable to be adequately addressed as long as decisions and stances are taken according to partisan affiliations.

That 2012 Plant team was VERY good. I was at Lakewood at the time, my son was on that Robinson team. That Robinson team beat us twice that year, and is probably the reason we did not win a ring while I was at Lakewood. Any Plant team other than the first and last year of Coach Weiner's term was a very formidable team. I have only been on the winning side of the scoreboard against Plant once, and that Tech team was loaded. Plant may not have had as many pro prospects as some other programs, but they were strong, physical, disciplined, and always believed they could win. They played hard and beat many teams that were more talented than they were.

He was a good kid. Lived right down the street from where I work. I coached him in an all star game coming out of middle school. You hate to hear this.
