Very solid win over a usually very quality Sagemont team Dillard and doing it without Wright makes it even more impressive -
The Toughest/Worst Schools to be a head coach at.

Lake Weir.. Up in a little town of Candler in Marion County, they have been through so many head coaches in school history and have struggled for as long as I can remember -
Gibson defense will keep them in the game, but it will be very hard for them to beat Carol City
-
Charlotte hasn't played anybody even near the level of Carol City yet, Chiefs roll by more than 21
-
that should be a good early season district matchup, Gainesville usually is always a very rock solid program.. The district with Gainesville, Columbia, Vanguard, Forest, Leesburg and Lake Weir should be fun to watch this year as it seems a lot of the teams beat up on each other throughout district play

game is at Navarre

yeah both defenses showed up with both dominating, Vanguard was litterally moving the ball at will in the 1st half, had 2 turnovers inside the LG 20 yard line in the 2nd quarter, Vanguard wound up with 9 sacks on the night and carried a 283 to 112 yard advantage going to the 4th quarter. Lake Gibson defense took over the 2nd half, their offense was never able to sustain a good drive on the night, it's just Vanguards offense put their own defense in 2 bad situations late in the 4th with 2 turnovers inside their own 35 which proved to be the difference.. But no excuses from me goodluck to the braves next week As far as the game against Navarre goes I don't really know what to expect their either, Navarre offense seems like a high scoring offense, they got to limit mistakes against that Gibson defense if they want to have a chance, that braves defense gets better and better as the game goes on, they were playing the 2nd half like it was the 1st quarter.. With Navarre being at home maybe it will help them and the long trip hurting Gibson I don't know we will have to see

I like Dr Phillips and Southridge here. I'm sold on that Southridge defense

good opening win Dillard, how did you guys look with it being the 1st game coming out? I know you guys are loaded and the favorite to return to Lakeland and win it all again this year after getting back all the underclassmen. I see no Kingdom Of The Sun for you guys this year so I'm guessing you guys got approved for those out of state tournaments?

Yeah I couldn't be more proud of what this team accomplished this year, first regional final since 2010, team broke some school records along the way including record setting QB N'kosi Perry.. We should be back in contention next year though, junior QB Marquez Glover should fill in nicely next year and will be surrounded with a lot of returning playmakers on offense, hopefully we're back to stay for many years ahead

Congrats Cocoa fans, I was wrong picking against Cocoa in this game, really want to see Cocoa win it all know, big fan of Bruce Judson, always have been, that kid deserves to go out with a ring after everything he has put into that program

One hell of a game out their tonight, defenses showed up big time for both teams throughout the contest, The Vanguard offense put the defense in a whole a few times late in the 4th and that proved to be the difference in the ball game, but not taking anything away from the braves they fought all the way through and never gave up after being down 13-0 entering the 4th, that's what great teams do we had our chances but just came up a little bit short

Lake Gibson scored to make it 14-13 after another Vanguard 3 & out, Vanguard gets ball back on own 20 and Perry throws a pick on first play, Gibson kneels it, 14-13 final
-
TD Lake Gibson, 13-7 Vanguard with 5:39 to go
-
All defense on both sides in the 3rd quarter, Vanguard leads 13-0 heading to the 4th
-
Vanguard defense was lights out in the opening half of play, up 13-0 at the half, if it wasn't for 3 turnovers it could be a lot worse. Booster Stadium is rocking tonight
-
Vanguard 13 Lake Gibson 0 half

8 yard TD scramble by perry after big special teams mistake by LG, extra point missed, knights lead 13-0 in the opening quarter
