DP (6-5) got itself a nice round 1 win after being down 17-6 at the half against Centennial. Final score was 34-28 in OT.
DP had two punts blocked and a third snap went over the punter’s head. Need to clean up the special teams to have a chance against Vero Beach.
The Panther offense is showing some sparks but needs consistency. They’ve found a nice wrinkle that worked against a good defense tonight in the second half.
DP will need to put pressure on Vero’s QB. DP didn’t get much push tonight defensively.

Don't get me wrong--I love going to games--but there are so many live streams that fans may be better served by staying at home.
I could sit on my couch and enjoy an ice cold adult soda and watch Carol City/Columbus, AHP/Miramar, Wekiva/Winter Park, Manatee/Braden River, Lakeland/Apopka, and the local showcase on the CW Network.
Starting to become a little bit like NFL Sunday Ticket.

Pipe Dreams reacted to DarterBlue2 in Wekiva vs North Gwinnett
Wekiva will struggle against any team with a solid defense. It's not that their offense is bad, it is not. But it's not championship caliber either. The strength of Wekiva is their defense. If their defense does not get put in terrible field position situations several times during the game, it has a chance of holding most strong high school offenses to two scores or less. The key against North Gwennett, is for them not to bet put behind the eight ball too often. If they can accomplish this, they have a shot at winning a close game. If they cannot, the NG is an easy winner.

You didn't answer the question I had.
By the way, too many schools to name with players who have played together for years. Most go 5-5, 6-4, 7-4, 8-3... but there are some good programs out there that are bottom up. Apopka, Winter Park, Lake Brantley, Lake Mary, DP all have good feeder systems from Pop Warner and a large chunk of the kids play together for years. It was like that on my HS team.
I'm just saying I hope somebody beats them.
I prefer HS football to be void of all star teams, which STA clearly is. I think it cheapens the game at the HS level. Care about it.

DP has Lee County GA on Saturday. Most starters played the first half with the score 7-3 Osceola. Second half was a lot of sophomores and freshmen.
The defense is just as good as last year, which was probably the second best in 8A behind Wekiva. The offense is behind the defense at this point but has the talent to get it done. O-line is the question mark but there are some good underclassmen.

Pipe Dreams got a reaction from OldSchoolLion in Biggest FL Upsets in History
By far the biggest upset in DP history was the 1997 first round loss to Oviedo.
DP was 10-0, demolished everyone on their schedule (including state power Evans) but lost 27-24 in OT in the upset against the Lions.
The 1997 team, to me, is on an equivalent level to the 2010, 2016 and 2017 teams that made the title game... they blew teams out early. They were up 14-0 in the 1st against Oviedo if I remember correctly.

    1. Wekiva  dominated Lake Brantley in the KOC.  Host a good Jones team week 1
    2. Apopka anytime you beat Mainland that's a good win.  Look to be better on defense early on this season.  Should be an easy game week 1 vs Ocoee before schedule gets tough.
    3. Osceola beat DP 21-3 but game was a lot closer than score.  Host Lake Gibson week 1
    4. Dr. Phillips struggled on offense and will once again rely on defense to carry them.  Travels to Lee County week 1.  They will have to play much better on offense to have a shot.
    5. Edgewater dominated Winter Park.  If this team stays healthy they have a shot at making a run.  They host a solid Bishop Moore team week 1.
    6. Seminole dominated a well coached Spruce Creek team.  Another team with the pieces to make a run. They get an easy one week 1 vs Lake Howell.
    7. West Orange beat up on little brother Windermere.  They travel to Olympia week 1.  This loss kept them out of playoffs last year.  A must win for West Orange.
    8. Mainland lost to Apopka in the KOC.  They better be ready week 1 as they travel to a much improved Deland team.
    9. Jones defeated Largo in the KOC.  Maybe Jones hasn't fallen off much.  We will find out week 1 when they travel to Wekiva.  Jaden Robinson is a promising 10th grade WR
    10. Boone has decided to schedule Osceola county schools.  They beat St Cloud in the KOC and host a Gateway team that lost a lot of players to the new school week 1.
    11. Bishop Moore defeated Bolles in KOC but varsity actually lost a close one in 3 quarters.  They will play Edgewater tough but not sure they have enough skill.
    12. Winter Park got dismantled by Edgewater.  Not sure how investigation is going or if Patrick will play.  They host Lake Nona week 1 in a pivotal game for them.
    13. Lake Mary stomped Hagerty in the KOC.  Host a good Palm Bay Heritage week 1.  Lake Mary will start a freshman QB in Gunnar Smith.
    14. Lake Nona struggled early vs Olympia but they have offensive weapons to score in bunches.  Shoud be a good one vs Winter Park.
    15. Deland looked good vs OC University but they are down.  We will find out early if this Deland team is a contender or just hype. They host Mainland week 1
    16. Oviedo easily defeated East River.  Not much coming out of Oviedo camp but they have a D1 QB and RB.  They open up hosting Timber Creek.
Others to watch  Spruce Creek, Lake Minneola, Harmony and Lake Brantley

You can’t judge teams using the recruiting services like you used to.
Rivals, Scout, etc. used to identify all the 2-3 star guys their sophomore and junior years.
Now, and this is the exact science so listen...... they focus almost entirely on the 4-5 stars. When players get Power 5 offers their junior year they become a 3-star, and when players get an FBS offer their senior year they become a 2-star.
You will only find about 10% (sophs) to 40% (juniors) of the future FBS level sophomores/juniors (respectively) in any database.
Back as recent as 2012 or so, the services really allowed you to to search by school and class. Not any more.
