RPI or MaxPreps are both mathematical formulas that aren't perfect. I have seen teams with a higher RPI than that of a team that beat them thus raising questions of validity. I thought gate receipts for playoffs was split between the two participating teams though I am not a rule expert and maybe someone can confirm or refute this. If that is the case your financial angle is non-existent.
Fhsaa gets 15% of the gross
Home team gets 55% of net profit
Visiting team gets 45% of net profit

Getting rid of automatic qualifications for runner ups and having a seeded playoffs are both massive improvements
I agree with this but the way they come up with the seeding sucks and they won't even tell you how they came up with it. Shady as F@@@.

I spoke yesterday with the head of football at the FHSAA (Robbie Lindeman) through email.
He confirmed the following:
The rankings are now a power ranking and the release dates are as follows.
First Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2022
Second Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, October 4, 2022
Third Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, October 11, 2022
Fourth Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, October 18, 2022
Fifth Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, October 25, 2022
Sixth Ranking Release Date: Tuesday, November 1, 2022
Last Ranking Release Date for Regional Seeding: Saturday, November 5, 2022
I expressed concern about their not being a public formula being used for the rankings for us to have the opportunity to double check the numbers as there were multiple mistakes made in the RPI input over the past couple years. Those mistakes being small or large mistakes are still mistakes and can lead to a team being ousted who shouldn't be.
I was told it is a modified ranking that doesn't take into account the point spread. I am curious if the reason for keeping private are... Doesn't make sense to me. We are being ranked without really knowing how exactly (obviously you win you are in...but would be lovely to know the criteria).
I agree. It's some shady shit.

@Ray Icaza I forgot I been to an Osceola High game. It when they played Tampa Bay Tech in the playoffs with Deon Cain at QB. Osceola whooped them up. I went with 2 buddies who coached the WR for Tech in little league
Almost put a running clock on them in the first half. Cain was special. We put in our 2's second half and he embarrassed a few of them. Luckily he didn't do that to our 1's. They couldn't block us to give him a chance.

I'm not sure what to take of this new Jambun82. I hope his officiating on Friday is better than his sarcasm. Stay safe from the Beast, don't let him scare you.

You may need some hearing aids, man who has been on this Earth for a significant amount of time. In fact, you should consider my great idea and suggestion, what else is new?, because that will help you with what you held very dear in your heart, the honor and privilege of talking with me. You're welcome for the honor and privilege, and you have a friend in Volusia County.
you most likely need some glasses. I've seen some of the officiating in Volusia county

It ain't about making me "FEEL BETTER" and I am okay with giving them trophies; bottom dwellers champion, one step up champion, mediocre champion, etc... Just don't call it a State Championship as your comparison of a trophy for a shitty district with a trophy for a State Championship is not a worthy argument. I would be fine with a scenario like you lay out with having a SINGLE state champion in the upper division only, however a team gets into that "Classification". It should be decided by whichever schools feel they can compete and want to compete at that level; let in whomever wants.
The team that wins the top class is the state champ. We would finally have a true state champion. Everyone else would be champions of their class.

Seems to me we used that formula in our public schools by doing away with meritocracy and not pushing to improve poor performance. What I described for coaches to do is what you propose without awarding a championship to the best poor performers. Basically a participation reward. Metro/Suburban doesn't solve the problems but it levels the playing field to some extent and every team winning a championship in this formula is among the top 10% overall in the state. The other system would hand out trophies for schools in the bottom 30% When it comes to cheating, that system won't eliminate that practice either only perfect who can do it best.
If it makes you feel better you don't have to give them trophies. With that said I don't see the problem with them getting a trophy. You get a trophy for winning a two or three team crappy district. At least they will beat lots of other schools to earn it. The Metro/Suburban does not level the playing field it actually increases the gap from top to bottom in each class. It does give a few more teams a chance to compete for a title but it does not level the playing field.
Here's what I would like to see. It will never happen but it's the only way to level the playing field.
1A bottom 112 teams 6-8 teams per district. 16 districts
2A next 112 teams
3A next 112 teams
4A Around 80 schools 4-6 teams per district. 16 districts
5A Around 80 schools 4-6 teams per district. 16 districts
6A top 32 programs no district go schedule who you want. All make the playoffs.

Dan in Daytona has provided a video of the game, and I said that I would view it when I have time. I have other priorities that are more important than this message board. Besides that, I don't have to defend or explain anything to you or any other poster to this message board. The information that I provide and don't provide is my choice and I will NEVER answer to someone like you. DO YOU UNDERSTAND AND HAVE I MADE MYSELF CLEAR?
WHAT? I CAN'T HEAR YOU LOL

Promotion and Relegation system is needed. Dividing the cheaters into Metro and Suburban doesn't work.

Badbird, do you have a source for this? Is it in the FHSAA rules/policy manual somewhere? I'm not doubting you, but it's inconsistent with the rule that I found a month or so ago and that Dr. D posted above. Just trying to understand.
Authorized for good cause in district, private or charter school board policy.
Here is the key. If a kid makes a full and complete move the county will give him good cause.
Dr D said the kid was at a private school so he probably didn't move trying to move back to the public school.
-
He will have to sit out 6 days after enrolling in his new school and he will be able to play if the family made a full and complete move.

The entitlement of kids(probably the adults) today is amazing. Maybe the cheer and band raised money to spend the night. Did football raise money or do you just expect it to be given to you. Oh no we got to drive 4 hours play a game and then drive back home. I hope Jones beats that ass.

Did any of the leather helmets get damaged? Obviously there were no face masks then, so did each team try to gouge the other teams player's faces?

Yeah Century and Ernest Ward (Walnut Hill) merged to form Northview in 96
My junior year we got into a fight with Ernest Ward in football. Now a days everyone would be suspended for 6 games. No one was ejected lol. The game had a few minutes left and they just ended the game.

I played baseball vs Pensacola Christian and football vs Apalachicola. Also left off Century from the panhandle.
3 stories from my life vs these three teams.
Football - we were getting on the bus to go play Apalachicola who believe it or not was ranked #1 in the state and we were 1-5 at the time. The Principal came on the bus and said I just want you guys to have fun and not get embarrassed. Well we went to Apalachicola and upset them. The coach at Apalachicola at the time was Coach Shaw Maddux. I would later in life coach with him at Osceola.
Baseball - we were playing Panama City Christian. They had no fence and the school was in deep left field. I hit a ball probably the farthest I've ever hit one. I admired it forgetting they had no fence. It one hopped the school. I got thrown out at third. The coach was not happy with me.
I have one about Century as well. My dad was the head coach in football in the early to mid 1980's and Century was a big rival. After a close heated game that Century lost some guys out of the stands came onto the field and started a huge brawl between the teams. Fans got involved and It got real ugly. One of the worst brawls I've ever seen. Now I was young at the time but there were lots of people left bloody after it. Also lost my last high school baseball game at Century. I think it was Buck Showalter (former MLB player and manager) field maybe not but he went to Century.

Winning a district title use to mean something. Now with lots of 2 and 3 team districts I would be in favor of getting rid of them also if we can't increase the number of teams in the districts.
FHSAA Power Rankings

my understanding is the starting ranking is gone by the end of the season. All computers have to have a starting point and as the season goes along that starting point means less. If Laz was here he could explain better.
I would have been ok using Pinkos ratings. I feel out of all computer rankings his were the best. Sadly there is no perfect or fair system.
