  1. In general my thoughts are more STA defense vs the Venice offense. I think this is where the game will turn either way. Whoever can impose that side of the ball respectively will win.
  2. They are ok. They have given up some points. Mostly on backups but in general they play sound. Wont out flash you with 5 star guys. They don't look like much but they get the job done. Everyone says they are too slow. Too small. Too weak. Don't have enough athletes. Every offense it seems lately has more "guys". Somehow they get the job done against all of these odds. 10 of the starters are Seniors. They remember what happened last year. I think they are more prepared.
  3. Expecting 5000 fans this week. Had almost 4000 last week. Get there early is all I can say.
  4. Plant has a few injuries but I think most are coming back for Friday night. Don't know much about the opponent but Plant seems to still make it happen when it counts.
  5. I was betting on reading a post like this on a Monday not a Wednesday!! To answer the question simply does Venice deserve to be favorites ? I'm going with no. I will add that until someone beats the 3 time 7A champ in the playoffs they would have to be the favorite in all of the games. With all of that said I think it should be a good game. Venice did not show up down South. At home helps so I'm looking for more of a closer game. In the end its hard to beat a team like STA. Can it be done, sure. Its been done before. Can Venice beat them only time will tell.
  6. Agreed first step get rid of any 3 team districts. The 1 vs 5 is also a good point.
  7. I don't think a statement of STA winning makes 7A the worst class. Players play the game. If you have good players then your chances are better than most.
  8. When you are on top people want to see you fall.
  9. "Insanity: Doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results" Albert Einstein To the point the good teams will find a way to get in. Those same teams will also find a way to win. I don't much care which system is used. My biggest issue is 3 team districts. They simply put allow teams "in" that regularly should not. I'm sure travel and location have played a role in why these 3 team districts still exist. My question is if that's the case and a team from one makes a run, they will then still have to travel.
  10. Most of the time articles in the HT are limited to subscribers only. I have read the article once but it comes up blank on here. @FloTech I read that Jamar was the one who caught the pass to basically finish the game vs Vero ? He usually only is used on defense and returns punts.
  11. Venice is still in it for at least 1 more week.
  12. Vero I think are the Indians as well.
  13. Toughest thing to do in football is beat a team twice. Even harder when a rival.
  14. Enjoy the moments you have left. At any point this could be it for our family. I told him in the summer he would once miss the 110s they have to run. He will miss the hot days and 6am workouts. Only memories will be left after that final whistle.
  15. Brantley at QB is elusive and quick. I wouldn't say they have great overall team speed. They will hit you with quick plays in the option. If the WR is not open Brantley will run. He is a one look and go kid. This is just based off of the shortened game Venice played earlier in the year. They must be doing something right to be still in the hunt. From what I hear Vero has a really good team. I'm thinking Vero in this one at Home. Riverview will play hard so don't let them hang around. If Vero can get up in the score they will fade. Don't let them think they have a chance and Vero will win.
  16. Not overly big. Its been awhile since Venice played them. They have a pretty decent size O lineman they like to run behind. Athletic guys on defense. Brantley at QB is an open field runner and can make people miss. Boyce didn't do anything in the Venice game so I cant say how he is.
  17. Riverview will put Jamar Johnson on the best WR and leave him one on one. Even if he gives up a few plays Johnson will stay on his own for most of the night. That will allow them to bring the safety down to help on the run. Biggest question is can the Riverview D line get any pressure on QB throws?
  18. One thing to add to that Venice game. Score was 17-0 and the game was "called" in the beginning of the 3rd Qt. Riverview conceded the win to Venice so no makeup needed to be rescheduled. I believe that score could have been more fairly easily. In watching the game I didn't see Riverview scoring at all maybe 1 TD on the backups. Again early in the year. Looking at their schedule is looked a bit soft. The 2 closest games in terms of score were Palmetto Win 11-10 and the Venice loss 17-0. They played some pretty weak teams locally. Manatee was in the playoffs but with a quick exit. Sarasota is a team that went 5-6. They did however accrue plenty of playoff points with their wins.
  19. I am not sure about the district champ being that big of an accomplishment. I'm no expert on that district but looking at the scores and records it was to say the least weak. Manatee and Riverview both put up big offensive numbers in district play. Difference is Riverview should have gotten better as the season went along. When they played Venice it was early. I think they were still trying to get the bugs worked out. Have not seen them play since but Brantley can run and will do that if the receivers are not open. Good in the open field but wont do much between the tackles.
  20. Venice home side was full, student section not so much. Away stands for St Pete maybe 100 people. Hour plus drive over the Skyway probably had something to do with it. This Friday it will be standing room only around the track and both sides filled. Each week more locals come out the deeper the run. We also will have other kids from neighboring schools who are not playing show up to watch. Parents from other schools I have noticed there as well.
  21. I think you guys are missing the purpose of the IMG machine. You don't go to get a college attention. You go there to prep for college athletics at a high level.
  22. Transfers will never be in an off season. Paperwork already filled out and coaches notified to make sure its a go. That will always be the case now.

True but they are in. I'm not sure who could have made a case but that record and point total is very weak. For them it will be short lived post season. I have watched them play and facing an Immokalee team is not going to be fun.
  24. Veira got 3 bonus points for that OOS state game. Once you play that game you can only hope they finish well to earn you as much as possible. That part is out of your control. Win the games on your schedule and hope they win the others. Schedule playoff teams to earn extra points. That's about it.
  25. Its not a bad place at all. We made the trip 2 yrs in a row.
