  1. Coach just curious couldn’t catch the game last night (honey do list that went until midnight) I did see some comments about some “hiccups” and them maybe getting an extra down or two. Anything to this? Are you guys gonna submit tape to the FHSSA? Not trying to drum up any excuses or drama just honestly wondering as a fan/alum, and not taking anything away from Palmetto they to are a very talented team. Proud of the young men this messed up season they and all schools had, they should be too!
  2. But but but... they’s supposed tone good ‘nuff beat Bama!
  3. Making your own homemade stuff there OSL? Lol Pine Cone Liquor Recipe
  4. Coors Light is my intoxication of choice tonight Jesse, what’s yours buddy?!
  5. Vero was gutted this year from QB to the line, didn’t know who the starting QB was going into the season. Senior loaded? Most of the guys had some play time but Vero lost a lot compared to years past and just having seniors on your team doesn’t mean they’re starters.
  6. 0-1 Against them this season though so far 34-7 I believe it was
  7. Not to take anything away from Osceola they have been a great team but outside of you where are their fans? For the most part this is a msg board with people supporting their teams and that’s why certain teams get brought up more than others. I’m a Vero guy but I watch the Treasure Coast teams and there are other Vero fans. Columbia follows his team, Darter follows his team and a couple other Orlando area teams, Dillard follows his team and the Broward teams, etc etc. Feel free to talk about Osceola I think their just a bit out of reach from the Orlando fans and there isn’t a fan base of them here on the board to bring them up into conversation as much as these other teams.
  8. You don’t know Vero football, they would have went for it 10/10 times.
  9. I’ll go number 2, last Championship in 81. Usually always in the playoffs and win at least 1 game some years more almost 40 years now... seems about right to be at 39.
  10. Vero has to be in their as a team that’s won a championship but not in the last 20 years.
  11. Lmao the announcer is a YouTube announcer for Vero not like he’s “begging” the refs on the field. If anything your a Orlando area homer, I’m a Vero one so of course we always like to see things play out to benefit your respective teams. I’ve seen this kind of thing play called multiple times and over looked times as well. I’ve asked how refs missed calls that Vero did and should have had go against them and vice versa. Gotta be non biased. One thing I’ve enjoyed about Darter over the years he’s always been pretty much non biased and has had some solid input. Can’t just say everything is bad that the opposing team does. IMO Vero should have lost this game with some of the horrible mistakes they made, as Darter said 8 minutes left up 2 scores, Boone had no business losing this game when it comes down to it with the turn overs/mistakes Vero gave them.
  12. I believe if he would have grabbed the ball the outcome would have been different it becomes a live play but that ball was so poorly thrown I don’t think there was any chance the WR could of grabbed it unless he was Calvin Johnson. I think he knew the guy didn’t have the ball and instead of pulling up and avoiding he still gave him a pop at the end, even his team mates looked a bit confused as to why he did that. DBs/WRs get choppy all the time maybe he just wanted to let the WR know he was there? My opinion correct call, DB made a mistake. Same topic but not about the penalty my coach would have had my a## for ever putting my head down. First for not seeing where I was tackling and secondly that’s how you get hurt!
  13. If you look closely the ball was well over the head of both DB and WR and out of play a few yards. The DB still continued to follow thru and looks as if he shrugs his shoulder into the WR at the end of it when they both are either out of bounce or about to be. As Darter said it was unnecessary. 14. 2:08:10 is where the play starts a few seconds after that. https://youtu.be/dtgkstO20Is
  15. 91 then against Dillard? I believe these 2 went against each other in the later rounds in the early 90’s?
  16. 93 against Dillard I believe, then I think lost against Southridge. Vero had some strong teams in the early 90’s.
  17. Game should be streamed through the YouTube channel here: https://www.youtube.com/user/VBHSFootball
  18. Vero Beach is my hometown, we barely considered ourselves S FL more as the border county between S FL and Central FL, and Cocoa is about an hour north of us. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
  19. Hey now ain’t nothin wrong with a little Grizzly! My industry is in the oil/gas fields and half of me and my coworkers diets consist of Grizzly and some kind of energy drink Lol!
  20. Would that have been Bill Wilson? He was before my time. I played back in the early 2000’s C/O ‘04. We had a lot of great mentors/coaches from Freshman up to Varsity. Coach Motta, Ahrens, Coggins, just to name a few were awesome coaches and mentors to myself and a lot of other kids. Maybe not so much then but looking back I appreciate what they did for us for sure.
  21. That is my thought process as well. I grew up playing for Vero where most of the coaches wanted everyone on the team to succeed in both life and football, but more so in life, and I appreciate what they did for us. There was some other positional coaches that had nothing to do with my skills group that would come over just to mentor the kids and try to make them all around better, I don’t see any of that here and honestly it was a culture shock. Glad to hear this seems more uncommon then not and that you do the right thing yourself coach. Good luck this season!
  22. Same here at Vero, from what I heard the players were exposed to another student who tested positive and then given the mandatory 2 week quarantine. Without access to the instant testing and the fear mongers, this is most likely going to be a long season for a lot of teams.
  23. I’m here in AL and one of the programs I’ve been watching their record isn’t great and I think a lot to do with it is the coaching, and having kids ready to go. I know there’s a lot of current and former coaches on here so I’m going to ask the questing. Do you focus your practices mostly on the starters and the 2nd stringers or certain package guys you leave to the wayside? I’ve noticed a lot with these guys they may have the back ups stand on the side 20-30 minutes and let first team do ALL reps. The other guys pay attention and try when given their shot but honestly aren’t being coached the basics (how to get properly set as a lineman, use their hands, WR sets, etc) unless they’re the starters. I was always taught the backup guys need to be practicing and shown the correct ways just as hard or harder since game time is cut down for them and their only one injury away from starting. They have plenty of help so the amount of coaches on hand to work with them isn’t a factor. Where I’m at I will have a selection of programs to put my son in this is by far the closest school for my son to go to when he’s at that point but football is an important thing to us both as a sport and life teaching tool, I may send him elsewhere, even as a starter on the principal of how kids are being treated. What’s your guy’s opinion?
