Here you go again.  No one from Polk County sat on the FHSAA BOD or was involved in the Metro/Suburban decision making from its inception down to going from most populated counties to most densely populated counties.  Again, why would Polk (especially Lakeland) run from metro schools they were beating anyway?
    FHSAA Metro/Suburb/Rural plan
FHSAA Meeting minutes (notice the absence of Polk representation)

Per the Infractions Appeals Committee page (which is outdated), to obtain information for the current year you will need to send an email to EmailEligibility@fhsaa.org. Otherwise, you would have to check two sections under Governance Meeting Archives: Infractions Appeals Committee and Section Appeals Committee.

I hope that is close to what you were looking for.  I also seem to recall violations under the regular meeting minutes but did not look.

One of the reasons the old district champ and district runner up model worked in Florida is due to the fact you could reschedule a district game instead of another and just erase the non district game when bad weather hit.  You had to beat your competition head to head and not count on some secret half butt formula from Maxpreps and Fhsaa.  Cons were loaded district with 3 awesome teams and then the dreaded 2 or 3 team district. Wild cards in old days helped the one issue.

So, hear me out on this.   A QB left Polk County to attend a school in the Tampa Bay/Hillsborough County area as a junior.   That means Venice can go after him next year.

I knew Lakeland would let go of Bryant stadium and head to S. Florida once Coach Castle retired.  I love this!  Lakeland was burned by Andrew in 92' and ever since, no regular season game has been scheduled in S. Florida.

I am glad this game is taking place. It should give us a great prelude to November/December.

It's interesting that they would recruit over IMG transfer Downs. Maybe he's going back to IMG, or maybe he's not as good as they hoped.
They're going to need a really strong recruiting class this year as they lose quite a bit from 2023. Of course, the best news for them is that neither STA nor Lakeland stand in their way in the new class.

    Something else to think about.
    1963 - 1 class - 1 year
    1964 - 2 classes - 1 year
    1965 - 1967: 3 classes - 3 years
    1968 - 1984: 4 classes - 17 years
    1985 - 1998: 5 classes - 14 years
Does anyone remember what event(s) prompted the accelerated addition of classes below?
    -------------------------
    1999 - 2002: 6 classes - 4 years (champ, runner-up, at large)
    2003 - 2004: 7 classes - 2 years
    2005 - 2021: 8 classes - 17 years
    2022 - 2023: 9 classes - 2 year
    2024....: 8 classes - 1st year

I don't subscribe either, but you didn't miss anything.  The meat and potatoes of the article boils down to 8 outclassed football programs making the move to go independent with Orange county's blessing.  Unfortunately, the title is misleading, almost clickbait-ish.

If the South Florida schools are so big and bad why do they care? Sounds like they might be scared of competition because they don't wanna play each other? Or they just want a trophy given to them?

Best thing the FHSAA can do right now is 1a-7a and create the 8 team open division. I was against the 32 team open division because it would water down the other classes more than they were before Metro/Suburban. The 8 team division would create great games and the other classes would still be very competitive. The question would be how would they do the playoffs in the 8 team open division when the other classes have 32 teams. An ex coach I know said they could give a bye the first round and again after their semi final games. Problem is they would only get 13 games when the other finalist get 15.
