What's really sad is that a team may make the playoffs under the current system on the basis of a "good loss".  @anonimishas explained how a team can improve its ranking with a loss under an algorithm system.  I can see it now: head coach to team after Friday's 42-7 loss, "great loss tonight guys; we earned 0.864 Power Ranking points so we're in the playoffs."  Whatever happened to winning?  Name another league where you can improve your playoff chances with a "good loss"... the NFL, NBA, NHL, MLB, SEC, your local PeeWee football league?  Nada.  Name another state high school association where you can improve your playoff chances with a "good loss".  I get Florida wants to be different, but this is what you're defending?  Put 8 teams in a district, play round-robin games, and the team with the most wins is the champion; the team with the 2nd most wins is the runner-up, etc.  No whining on Saturday when somebody's team gets screwed by a "good loss" (or a "bad win").

Well....  The refs made the call.  Did they get it right?  LOL.  Who says there's no need for instant replay in hs ball.

That sounds like a fun project for next year, lol.  I might have to work that out.

Statistically it's done via large time series analyses involving cross-correlation matrices, weights and regressive moving averages.  In english, this simply means you are measured how well on average you perform versus a team compared to how others performed against that same opponent. 
A simple model example:  If you scored higher than the average versus team A and then gave up less than the average versus team A, then you have performed above average with respect to all other teams who played team A.  Now if team A performs above average versus other teams as well, this will in turn improve your ranking even further.  Below average performance works the opposite way.  Once more and more teams play, the more two teams are relatable to each other since more degrees of common opponents happen, thus the model converges to optimum accuracy late in the season, smoothing over wonky early season results.
Now take away scoring margin from the above model and you can see how you lose precision in measuring how well above or below you performed against team A since now it is either W or L with no shades of gray between.

Add that to the list of needed items starting with pay disparity.  The only way that will happen is if the residing party finds a way to give kickbacks to one of their cronies to fund that initiative.  However, this is long overdue.

Then it's a completion. I was just saying thats the only way the ref can claim it to not be one. I honestly feel like the state should consider doing instant replay for certain types of calls/plays. Especially since now most teams have the sideline systems to watch plays back now.

I am getting ready to move FloridaHSFootball.com to a new server for the first time since 2016. Unfortunately the operating system for the server has expired and the RAM is starting to become a little outdated and slower. I have been able to find a significant upgrade with a different company for around the same price I am paying now per month with a new company as the current company that hosts the current server has gone downhill the last few years and I have held out hope they would want to keep a longtime customer (they don't want to). The speeds will be more powerful once migration of the current server happens and moves to the new server and it is going to be running on SSD drives versus HDD drives. Once this happens, I will be announcing some new projects in development. I will share more on when the migration will happen (Hopefully tomorrow to have migration happen).

Congratulations on the win!  That damn social media is one of the Bains of society, lol.  Davenport ain't been around long enough to call out scores against anyone.  Coaches need to set the tone, not participate in the foolishness.  With their remaining schedule, they have 3 big losses coming and could just as easily not win any more games to close out the season.
Again, congrats to Poinciana.  That is one program I would love to see finish strong and continue building on the recent success.  

How about them Broncos!   Poinciana has been disrespected for a long time. There was a lot of trash talking on social media and complete lack of respect from their players and coaches. One of their coaches put it out there that they were going to drop 50 on us!  This lit a fire in our kids that couldnt be put out! 
We went on defense first they lost 13 yards. Then our offense went to work, dropped a 20-0 first half. Came out in the second half went up 26-0 off a 60 yard pic 6. They scored 26-7 then we immediately answered it 32-7. their other 2 touchdowns came in the last 4 minutes of the game. 
We know who we are. But could this be the new beginning of things at Poinciana? 4-2 so far!

I can imagine the jokes if they lose.
