If any program needs a shot in the arm its Chamberlain. Their tradition was ripped away from them when their nickname of 60 years was taken away by PC jackasses. It seems like their winning traditions have been forgotten. Wilder was a sophomore LB/RB at Chamberlain before transferring to Plant so he has ties to the school. He probably would’ve stayed at Chamberlain if they would’ve named Turner’s son as the head coach but he went to Plant and won state titles and national acclaim. 
From from what I understand he is a high energy and sophisticated coach. Hoping he does great to revive the Chiefs (I mean the storm). The talent flooded out at Chamberlain about 10 to 15 years ago and never came back. Hopefully he will draw some players. I know he’s been running fb  camps for quite a while.

Well, I'm saying that BP winning 2M is the big upset. That involved beating both the undefeated Dade champs AND AH on the road. So, I'm counting both wins in that.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge one of the most important figures in Lakeland football history who's never gotten any credit from anyone under 40, or who started paying attention to Lakeland football post 2003. 
Bill Galloway. He was the OL coach who developed the "Beefaloes" tradition, which is what made Lakeland into the power-running team that goes a long way to explain their sustained success. Galloway left, I believe, after the 2003 season to move to Tennessee. He was with Castle for roughly 20 years. And, when he was there, I can tell you he was almost Coach 1B to Castle's 1A. Castle's offenses in the early years were known for being balanced- they produced a QB who held the NCAA completion percentage for a time (Wayne Peace at Florida).  Galloway's influence probably helps explain the shift to run-dominant offenses in the 1990s. Lakeland won three state titles with Galloway being a crucial part of the staff, and I think his mark carried over to the teams that proceeded his exit. There were some other long-time coaches who deserve credit as well. But, Galloway was a towering figure who functioned almost like a co-head coach with Castle. Lakeland ran for over 1100 yards in two (2) playoff games, mostly from under center, and without a hurry-up approach. The Lakeland tradition of power football, which inspires players today, owes a lot to Galloway.

@VeniceIndianFan, Congratulations on receiving your degree today!  I'm sorry the Indians could not provide the icing on the cake, but at least you got the cake.

Congrats to the Naughts.  Venice came in loaded with offensive weapons.  QB, wide receivers and terrific running backs to go along with an excellent offensive line...... basically an offensive Juggernaut.  But like last year, the defense had no answer for a determined ground game.  Despite playing without an effective QB ( ALL heart) in the second half that obviously couldn't throw a pass, simply ran it down their throat.  Don't know what else to say other than admiration for the Lakeland squad for a total team win that most thought was not possible. 

That's all I'll say tonight.  However, thanks to all the Naught supporters and detractors.  You know who your are, LOL.

Just wanted to beat the rush and congratulate the Raiders on their title run today.

The Bucs kicked a field goal as time expired to win their second state championship in a 100+ year history. Early on after running back the opening kickoff for a touchdown and then blocking a Mainland field goal attempt with then a long scoop and score touchdown, St Augustine appeared ready to blow Mainland off the field 13-0 just like Hollywood Chaminade did to CCC in the day's opening game of the Florida football championships. Only difference was Mainland's defense wasn't having any of that and held the Yellow Jackets too under 50 yards total offense and no more points in the entire first half. Their season scoring average was over 43 points per game.  The Bucs then scored 18 straight points in the second half to finally take the lead 18-13. Mainland's offensive star of the game was QB DJ Murray who passed for more than 200 yards and run for 175 yards. He has lead the way throughout the playoffs and most of the regular season. I sure am proud to be a Buccaneer this morning. Hopefully it doesn't take another 20 years to get that 3rd championship. No way I make it.  
Speaking of 20 years ago..... Almost to the day Mainland won it's first championship 20 years ago in 2003. In the early game (of two) that year Chaminade-Madonna won it's first championship over Madison County. Yesterday Chaminade wins the early game, Mainland the middle game and Madison loses the nightcap.  How's that for a 20year repeat.

LOL, the bush leagues that the Indians have yet to win.  Maybe they take it this year.

The only information that I have seen is what is available on the FHSAA website.  The most recent Board of Directors meeting took place on November 5-6.  At that time, it appears the new classification proposal was discussed, and an official vote planned "at a later time".  It seems that a decision would need to be made fairly soon, so that districts could be determined, and 2024 schedules planned.  I would suspect the FHSAA is waiting for the championships to be completed this week, and then proceed with decisions for next year.  The FHSAA has updated its enrollment numbers for the 2023-24 school year to use in the reclassification process.  For those who are interested, you can check out enrollment numbers here: https://fhsaa.com/sports/2021/12/3/SchoolEnrollmentNumbers.aspx
