  1. Pensacola Washington head coaching position is officially open.
  2. I would probably add 1 more team out of region 1 district 1 with either Gulf Breeze or a Moseley team who looked good last year until the hurricane hit and they fell off.
  3. I have only seen clips of both teams, but I would probably pick Crestview over Niceville. Crestview’s offense is rolling. The Navarre GB game is one that’s tough to say. Navarre has Dante Wright and GB has Tyler Dittmer. Both change the game dramatically for their teams.
  4. North Florida (5 games) Buchholz(6-2) @ Bartram Trail(5-3) 7AD3 matchup. Buchholz has won 3 of the last 5 meetings. BT won last year 53-21. Lee(6-1) @ Fletcher(6-2) 7AD2 matchup. Lee has won the last 3 meetings, including a 20-6 win last season. Flagler Palm Coast(7-2) @ Mandardin(5-3) 8AD1 matchup. FPC has won 4 of the past 7 meetings, including a 24-17 2OT win last season. 4ARaines(7-1) @ 7ALincoln(6-2) Raines won 49-24 at home last season. Gulf Breeze(7-1) @ Navarre(6-1) 6AD2 matchup that will decide the district champion. Navarre has won 10 of the last 11 games, but the last 2 have been decided by one TD or less. Gulf Breeze won in 2016. Rivalry game(Public Peach Bowl Cup) The GB Navarre game should be a good one. I would also include Crestview against Niceville for North Florida games.
  5. It was awesome. This has been done before. The original player who did it back in 1989 (I think) was Terrell Buckley at FSU. He did it against Syracuse. Crazy how times have changed after last weekend of FSU vs Syracuse.
  6. Hope they start looking like the mid to late 90’s squads and that flash in the pan squads in the late 2000’s.
  7. So is DeLand looking like they’re finally back.
  8. Milton 38 Washington 15 Navarre 35 Catholic 7 Gulf Breeze 48 Pascagoula 15 Escambia 23 West Florida 20 Pace 30 FWB 20 Lincoln 27 Niceville 15 Crestview 68 Bay 0 Tate 28 Choctaw 21 Pine Forest 27 Pensacola 6
  9. Escambia 23 West Florida 20
  10. Escambia beat Washington 21-0 in 1 quarter, and beat Catholic 14-7 in another quarter. Tate over Pensacola 14-0 in a half. West Florida 7 Pine Forest 0 in a half. Gulf Breeze 10, Choctaw 0 in a half. Louisville (Miss) 14, Navarre 6 in a full game.
  11. Jerry Pollard retired from coaching (he’s the AD still at PF) and a lot of his coaches aren’t part of the new staff. They are still very talented however.
  12. Probably the same as last year, with Escambia county being Escambia, and maybe Tate and Pine Forest. Santa Rosa will have Navarre and Gulf Breeze, and Okaloosa will have Crestview and Niceville.
  13. Recently in the panhandle, Navarre, Crestview, Tate, and Gulf Breeze have pretty good atmospheres. In the mid to late 90’s I remember Sanford, Vero, and DeLand were tough to play at. Before Stetson renovated the stadium in DeLand, it was always cool seeing both teams walk through the crowd in the end zone to get to the field from when they walked across the street from the baseball stadium. Milton vs Pace is always a great atmosphere. Another ‘fun’ one was playing at Quincy Shanks.
  14. Drededrick Bell has been named the head coach at Pensacola Washington. He has been the AD there for the last couple of years.
  15. Charlie Ward resigned today from Pensacola Washington to be an ambassador for FSU.
  16. You’re correct about Gulf Breeze on all accounts, especially the last part.
  17. East Gadsden and West Gadsden just recently became Gadsden County.
  18. I don’t think the Pensacola area has learned how to transfer/recruit as well as the rest of the state. Kids from West Florida literally posting they “received offers” from other high schools. Trevor Jordan, the QB at WF, posted he ‘received an offer to play at Pensacola High School,’ and Keyshawn Swanson from WF also posted he ‘received his first offer to play at Pine Forest.’ I do know the RB from Pensacola Catholic, Smiley, has transferred to Pensacola High School.
  19. NFC benefited from Ernie Sims from his 8th grade year until he graduated. Not sure about Lincoln, but I’m sure Godby and Rickards being good doesn’t help with kids wanting to leave like in the past to go to Lincoln. Probably coaching changes as well, just a couple of random thoughts.
  20. Only issue I see is that rule changes should go into effect during the cycle when schools reschedule, which is every 2 years. Currently, many schools are locked into contracts and can't create a new schedule. I get we are encouraging better competition, but how can a school get better competition this off-season when they are locked into a contract with a school? Rules can be tweeked, but they should be after the 2018 season when everyone is recreating their schedules.
  21. Final Crestview 44 Escambia 34 Crestview will travel to St. Augustine.
  22. Crestview 37 Escambia 34 with 5 minutes to go. Escambia’s top player Jacob Copeland out with an ankle injury.
