whos paying for their transportation?  you?  easy to say do this do that, but if your less than 500 kids in a school whats friday night football gate look like?  possibly packed, yes, but those funds pay for most other non revenue sports(swimming, tennis, etc).  so a 5 hour bus ride is expensive

We will never know if that's true or not. STA had its back against the wall in its final. Cocoa, won comfortably though it did not blow out Bradford. 

They lost lol, if they played a rematch in the 3rd rd of the playoffs, STA would of done them dirty

If he's charismatic and has deep connections in the community, they will come. With that said, given the fact administration at the school seems to have, at best, mixed feelings about the game and its success/failure, he's got his work cut out for him and may not be up to the task of navigating the land mines that lie ahead.  

Unfortunately, in these disgusting times, it'll all boil down to his ability to recr...I mean "attract" players. If he attracts enough studs, they'll be decent mostly no matter what. Of course, I can't imagine anyone who could play for Osceola, Lake Wales, or even Haines City leaving to play for a 25 year-old coach at Poinciana. But, what do I know?

@Beek Coach...this is Coach Brandon your former Varsity WRs coach. I am so Sorry for what happened. It was an honor to coach with you in 2022 and help the school get its first winning record in program history. I always kept an eye on the school and this past season. You really put your heart and soul into that program to make things right. Good luck at Southlake and God bless!

An Amen for trolling everyone??  If you truly wanted one champion you would leave the 11 week season (10 games) and after the 6th game, FHSAA would put out their rankings based on combination of MaxPrep poll and HS Coaches poll.  That gets update weekly after that till season end and top 32 teams get in.  That would get you to a championship round game in the 5th round just like today.  Chaminade as the #! seed got Carrollwood Day #32 and STA #2 seed vs Vanguard #31 in round one, not the farce you described. 

It will be 1 vs 512, 2 vs 511 and so on. 
 
So Chaminade will play the Florida School for the Deaf, and STA will play the Tampa School for the Blind 

Ok here is how you settle everything on the field. 9 rounds to determine one true state champion. Here’s how it works. 
 
First everyone plays 5 regular season games. Just to warm up, get in rhythm, and gel for the playoffs. 
 
The top 512 teams make the playoffs. 
 
Round 1 - 512 teams 
Round 2 - 256 teams
Round 3 - 128 teams 
Round 4 - 64 teams 
Round 5 - 32 teams 
Round 6 - 16 teams 
Round 7 - 8 teams 
Round 8 - 4 teams 
Round 9 - 2 teams for the 1 true State Championship. 
 
 
That means everyone gets 6 games minimum, and if you lose in the early rounds you can just schedule random games with other teams who were eliminated as well. Up to 4 more depending on what round you were eliminated in.

No 10 classes for 500 teams would have been an abomination. 
 
The fact we have a rural class is embarrassing. Hawthorne and Madison County would have been favored over OTC and Mooney in my opinion. 
 
Florida needs 5 classes realistically with 6 being the absolute max. 
 
6 classes with 500 teams is 83 per class. With 16 districts per class that’s 5.2 teams per district. Please tell me how that’s unreasonable????

I was going to suggest that to our district if the plan went through.  I actually think the fhsaa should mandate it if it ever passes.  I like the district tournament idea.  I know really good teams will struggle to find games but the counties can make people play each other like Orange County does.  Apopka has no problem finding games and they are pretty good.
 
Larger districts, take out the 8 juggernauts and get a true state champ, don't have to play a district schedule if you are bad so no reason to be independent.  I really liked the proposed plan with some tweaks.  Not shocked they decided to go back to what sucked before.  Great job FHSAA

It is not like North Florida did anything with new system anyway. Only two and half teams (not counting 1R teams) North of Gainesville made the championships the last two years. Mandarin, FSU High, and Bradford (they are barely North of Gainesville). Honestly, I still prefer a real promotion/relegation system, but I agree with the original post. It seems way too soon to know if the system is working and going back to the old system seems like a retread.

I guess I would ask what would have been different if we had 1A-7A (with Rural separate). Is Chaminade not winning? Is STA losing? Cocoa? It seems like most of the teams that won would have won in any classification. Who was denied winning a championship who would otherwise would have won if we didn't have it as a Metro/Suburban?

It's all very, very funny. I hate to say it, but the Georgia and Alabama equivalents are superior to our governing body.

I for the life of me can't understand the reason to not at least let graduating cycle go through before changing the system. The M,S,R accomplished everything it was asked for. More competitive games, newer teams competing for and winning states. BP upset over Norland doesn't happen with previous system. I can't think of one reason to go back to the old system of blowout State title games

The final score will always be the bottom line. Woulda, coulda, Shoulda, if & but have never beaten AQUINAS!   The FG kicker never had the chance, the arrogant coach took away any chance for victory with his dumb decisions.
