DB4 got a reaction from Zoe Boy in 2018 Cocoa Football Schedule
The annual tradition of Cocoa playing an awful small school from South Florida continues lol

DB4 got a reaction from BrowardHandicapper in 2018 Unofficial Schedules
I saw on South Broward's schedule that they only have two games up so far: the one against Everglades and then the kickoff classic, against Marina, a team from Huntington Beach, California. Interesting.

DB4 got a reaction from BrowardHandicapper in Transfer Season 2018
Just saw a few QB transfers from a Larry Blustein article that I don't think are on here:
2020 Ryle Aguila transferred from Somerset Academy Pembroke Pines to Hialeah
2019 Demetrius Burns goes from Everglades Prep to South Dade
2019 JuZion Wade goes from Hialeah to Doral Academy

To the right of each name is the FL classification where theTop 25 Alabama high schools would play if they were in Florida. With the exception of AHP, match the top 10 5A teams in AL versus Florida's top 10 5A teams and, at the very least, I think they would give those teams all they could handle, if not beat them. Several of those teams would be very capable of making the FL 5A state final. Concerning 4A top 10 matchups..I feel pretty confident saying the Alabama schools would get the best of the FL schools.
1 Hoover 7A
2 Pinson Valley 4A
3 Thompson 5A
4 Central 5A
5 McGill-Toolen 5A
6 Austin 4A
7 Hewitt-Trussville 5A
8 Clay-Chalkville 4A
9 Wetumpka 4A
10 Auburn 6A
11 Oxford 4A
12 Mountain Brook 5A
13 St Paul's Episcopal 3A
14 Spanish Fort 4A
15 Spain Park 5A
16 Park Crossing 4A
17 Hillcrest 4A
18 Opelika 4A
19 Lee 5A
20 Bob Jones 5A
21 Shades Valley 5A
22 Homewood 4A
23 Oak Mountain 5A
24 Vestavia Hills 5A
25 UMS-Wright Prep 3A

There are 15 schools in Alabama(AL) 6A,the second biggest class, that would be in FL 3A. The rest of the AL 6A schools would be in FL 4A. 27 of AL 7A schools would be FL 5A. Of the remaining schools in AL 7A, 3 would be FL 6A and 2 would be in FL 7A.

DB4 got a reaction from peezy28 in Coaching changes
I just moved to Alabama and while I haven't been here for a football season, I'll give a few thoughts:
-One reason why the publics dont have as much worry as the publics is that there is a separate organization for the privates (AISA). Now there are privates that play in the AHSAA, not sure what the stipulations are on them playing there though.
-In the short time that I've been here, transferring is not nearly the issue it is in Florida. I've seen a couple kids tweet about transferring but not many.
-Some stuff is tough to evaluate in my opinion, but I think the coaching in Alabama probably helps equal out whatever talent disparity there may be between FL and AL. They pay coaches better here, head coaches are ADs, just like in Texas.
-The top schools in AL can definitely compete with the top schools in FL. And keep in mind, a 6A in Alabama would be closer to 4A in Florida.

DB4 got a reaction from BrowardHandicapper in Transfer Season 2018
Someone else may know more than me, but I saw a Footballville video about 2019 defensive lineman Denzel Daxon (Miami commit) and it said Doral Academy next to his name. And then I did a little digging and found that Samuel Anaele (2020 defensive end, Miami commit) also went from Norland to Doral.

DB4 got a reaction from BrowardHandicapper in Vote for the Worst HS Teams in Florida
I can't speak to all-time, but for sure and without a doubt one of the worst teams in the state of Florida right now is Westland Hialeah. I think they scored two touchdowns last season and maybe two the season before.

DB4 got a reaction from Zoe Boy in Horrible news situation at Stoneman Douglas
I'm sure it's already been mentioned, but the athletic director and coach/security guard that gave their lives to save kids are true heroes. The next day, I was in a group text with my coaching buddies and we all just wondered what we'd do in a similar situation. Now teachers feel like they need to keep classrooms locked at all times. Such a sad situation.

DB4 got a reaction from BrowardHandicapper in FL Represents in the Super Bowl
My homie James White balls out when he's in the Super Bowl. He lived down the street from me when I was living with my grandma in high school. I played HS ball with his older brother. Glad to see him ballin, even if it is with the Patriots, who I strongly dislike.

Those are 2 of Archbishop McCarthy's stronger players. QB Rivera with a offer from Pitt and I believe Sandora led the team in tackles. If the floodgates are open now over at Archbishop, they have a couple other 2018 solid players (one being RB Jacob Baptiste) and I am curious if Western will be the landing strip for the former Stallions.... Last year they sent a few over to Chaminade-Madonna...

WR Damian Sutton went from Everglades to American Heritage

And the Westlake coach used to be at Coconut Creek, that could have something to do with it as well.

You may be right, but as is the case with college football, high school football is what's bringing home the $$$ for those schools. I don't know any concrete numbers, but I'd hypothesize the amount the football coaches are being paid pales into how much the school is bringing in (Allen's stadium is 18k capacity, sold out every week, plus they host playoff games; charge $10 for tickets and take away the people who get in free like the band and they probably make around $160k and that's before you count concessions and retail sales). Playoff games in Texas are easy money for schools bc games are normally hosted at neutral sites. Schools rent out the facility, get a small cut of the gate and the two schools split the rest.
This may sound could and it in no way is meant to disparage the hard work that coaches of other sports do, but with the exception of maybe boys basketball and baseball, nothing is going to make money for the school like football. The more money they make that way is the less they have to ask the school for I'd guess.
