DB4 got a reaction from dawgs in Overworked, underpaid, Palm Beach football coaches are leaving at a rapid rate
This is true to an extent. You have to consider that a lot of schools are dealing with similar advantages, so that levels the playing field a bit. But then when you get into the major metros (Dallas/Fort Worth, San Antonio, Houston) and when I say metros I mean the actual city, not the suburbs, the rules are different. I know a lot of schools in Houston where the assistant coaches have to teach regular periods, and they don't have a football period. If one school in the district does it, I believe the whole district does, and they don't I'm pretty sure. Now Houston ISD coaches still get paid much better than coaches in Florida. But it's not blanket that every coach in TX has it plush.

DB4 got a reaction from dawgs in Girl Earns College Football Scholarship
Okay, lets say they are doing it to get some press. It's an NAIA school, not Clemson. Pretty sure they'll take publicity and if they get a few more applications and new students, then it's worth it. Then, as @dawgs said, it's a partial athletic scholarship. The young lady will still have to get other scholarships from the school or outside, loans, grants, work study, etc.
From a pure football standpoint, if she were to play, I'd imagine she'd be at cornerback. Much easier to see a 5'5" player at corner than safety.
Lastly, don't put women doing good things to white males as sex predators. That's not the women's fault that those men committed those crimes. You seem upset that one young lady got a partial scholarship at a small school. Not sure why

Probably couldn't get kids to transfer in like they had. Just a guess. If they're depending on just the talent in Weston to win games, they're going to be what they've been the last few seasons.

According to that Sun Sentinel article, here are other coaching openings in Broward besides Cypress Bay: Flanagan, Cooper City, Stranahan, Blanche Ely, Dillard, and McArthur

That sucks man. I'm far from a Florida Gator fan but I never wish that type of situation on any kid. I hope UF honors the scholarship and he can become a coach or something and fulfill his degree.

According to J.T. Wilcox's Twitter account, Laron Culpepper is stepping down as head coach at McArthur.
Also, I know someone who is a Miami High alumni that sent me a message that said Sedrick Irvin is no longer the head coach there. The alumni group post said that he was let go because he was looking around at other schools, he says it was unexpected.

Coaching is the biggest difference period. And in the cases where coaching is negligible, the other team actually does have more talent.

I know they won state in 2016, but I think Southridge underachieved with Rolle given all the talent they had there. Especially bc they were bringing in so many transfers from other schools in South Miami-Dade.

He's got a couple of MAC offers from Toledo and Central Michigan. Idk how good he is but that transition getting used to Florida speed is gonna be a huge issue

Having AP voters decide would be an awful idea and I'll explain why:
When I worked as a sports reporter in TX, I was an AP voter for HS football. I wasn't in a major metro (Houston, Dallas, Austin, San Antonio). But everyone tries to squeeze some teams from their area in with some votes. But Texas is such a big state that it's guaranteed you haven't seen enough teams to have an informed vote on who the top 10 is in every single class. A lot of times you just end up going with who you see most other ppl are voting for or how the voting went the prior week. You may have the best 10 teams in a class, but you may be missing somebody bc they're 8 hours away in West TX or something.
Florida isn't that big, but to relate it to here, you'd be asking voters from the Panhandle to determine who the best teams in South Florida are, SW Gulf Coast voters to do the same for Jacksonville/Daytona Beach schools. Chances are they haven't even seen YouTube highlights of most of these teams.
There's no perfect system for the playoffs but in my opinion, a BCS style system is way less perfect than what we have now.
