I follow South Florida ball constantly so don’t tell me I don’t know what I’m talking about. I know the West is a different beast this year with all of the transfers they have received and Taron playing QB . But neither team will likely score more than 30 points.

We have the consensus #1 defensive end in the nation in Damon Wilson on the right side, 3 year starter Trenton Kintigh at nose tackle, and Collin Adkins, 2 year starter playing alongside him with newcomer Shamarion Wilson on the left. We have 2 corners in the top 50 in the nation, Jaquavious and Elliot Washington along with Sage Yootzy whom returns for his senior year. Ashari Charles starting as a sophomore and transfer Kammrin Herring at linebacker are going to be very strong as well. This is going to be our best defensive unit in school history so you better be prepared for everything. Best of luck!

No you don't. You said we are a run first team. Everybody know that's not true. Those same dbs got toasted last year. Nw had it's worse line play in years and still put 35 on y'all. If any defense im worried is ours lol. If it's those same dbs as last years then bombs away. I dont have to name all of our players you will see them next week.

I agree with you. My thing is band and cheerleading are diff programs , you can’t compare what they got planned vs the route y’all as fans or players have to do.

they’ve probably fundraise for this months and months ago. Or already had the funding

Exactly. I'm just glad Man Man with us now. He gave us hell when he was at BTW. I want to see other teams try and tackle him now. If you don't know who I'm talking about go watch Adam Moore hudl. And Rayquan Adkins hudl too. Those are just 2 of the new guys I'm ready to see rock that blue and gold.

@topnotch305 bro who out here inflating ticket numbers lol. News just came out that the 14,000 ticket sales was a lie.

and that so far 1900 tickets has been sold with 70% of that being from jones fan base. Whewww Lawd this game getting juicy lol.

Man you can't believe everything you hear lol. Some alumni are mad because. Players not staying overnight and going right back basically. But that's standard procedure for non playoff games. The coaches stand with the AD. Nothing major to report here. This won't be a distraction come Saturday.

Northwestern is not worried about Central or Venice? This comment is not going to age well. Our defense returns Damon Wilson, Trenton Kintigh, Sage Yootzy, Elliot Washington, and Shamarion Wilson on top of transfers Deylen Platt and Kammrin Herring. MNW has a run first offense, so good luck moving the ball against one of the best defensive lines in the state. Northwestern will need at least 28 points to defeat Venice. The Bulls can win but it’s going to be easy. Best of luck!

Although you guys hung 50 on the west last year don't forget those same people you named had 35 hung on them with a very young interior on both sides of the ball. NW a run first team? With Taron Dickens at QB? Soon to be Dade Co. Alltime passing leader? You def. haven't done your homework on us. But you should kno better as our qb had over 300 yards and 4 to 5 tds. This year wrs are even better. The team as a whole is better. Won't underestimate Venice this year.

Wow that is one damn tough schedule. No guaranteed wins. Losses will be Venice, CMD, and Central.

Toughest game will be Chaminade. Not worried about those other 2 teams mentioned. Last year you win KOC and i guess that trickles over to this year because Venice is at home? We will see in 2 weeks. I'm not saying nothing about how good NW is this year. You will see for yourself. Central is overrated this year. Yes i said it. Overrated.

Jones has had very limited exposure to South Florida Teams. They lost the 2019 state Championship game to Northwestern by a score of 34-17. Jones kept the game very close for the first half but wilted in the second half. The difference in that game, in my opinion, was the freshman MNW QB who was very poised for a 9th grader. Jones QB, who was either or senior or junior was not anywhere near as good, so he was unable to take advantage of some of the big targets he had.

Jones also had a first or second round loss to Cardinal Gibbons in the playoffs in recent memory in a pretty good game.

So, to answer your question, they are 0-2 against very good South Florida competition, but they have proven they can hold their own. The demographics of Jones are very similar to that of: Dillard, MNW, Miami Central, etc. For years they were average at football (kind of like Ely, Jackson, Edison, etc. have been recently) because they did not have a good coaching staff and, therefore, a lot of their talent went elsewhere.

Since Elijah Williams became head coach, they have kept their talent and gotten a few transfers to boot. Elijah is a very good football coach who has been able to get the team to step up a notch. Last year, Jones should have beaten Pine Forest as all they needed was the conversion of the extra point with seconds on the clock. Unfortunately, they had lost their kicker late in the season and the QB who had been kicking the PATs missed the point. Pine Forest ended up the winner in overtime. Note that Pine Forest probably should have beaten Jesuit in the title game after Jesuit had handled Northwestern comfortably in the other semifinal. Now last year is last year and this year is this year, so I am not using that to forecast the outcome of this game.

I do think Jones has a more dynamic offense this year that last. However, I am not sure about the quality of this year's defense.

Yeah line play was NW issue last year on both sides. Worse I've seen in a while and still made it to semi final. Bigger and stronger on both sides of the ball this year.

Interesting. Jones has a very strong offense and a somewhat unproven defense.

To beat NW this year you will have to outscore them. You will have to score at least 40 points or more. I know they're other teams that are predicted to be better than them this year and rightfully so i guess. But I like what i see so far this year. Looking forward to being at the game in the O Saturday night.

I do agree that some are understating just how much of an impact Jason Taylor had, he may have been the best coach on the entire staff

Roland was a great coach at Central but I do believe Central made the smart call getting someone already on the staff to fill the void as they can maintain what they have built and keep the same system and mentality

MNW "seems" loaded but people thought they were last year too and they lost to a team with less transfers and talent, I just don't think MNW is the same program they were a couple of years ago when they won state a few times, something seems missing

SJB is all I know about, out of state. MNW is playing SJB in Ohio. Who else do they have? And like you said, if there is football.

That I'm not sure of other than the regulars on the schedule including you guys.  Chaminade was rumored to be on schedule or were talking about playing NW. Guess if and when this clears ur will be more to come on that.

  10. 2 hours ago, MC Rockets said:

If there is a season, it would be interesting to see the game between MNW and SJB(that certain top team in California). Especially that MC plays that "certain" team the week before. MNW will be a top 15 team to start the season. And if they run the table they should be in consideration for the MNC.

Besides SJB who else does the Rockets play out of state? I'm sure you guys have a loaded schedule as always. That's if we have football of course.

  11. With the amount of talent coming back and plans to put together a national schedule with Booker T. being the first game, playing a team in Heirbstreet classic in Ohio, a certain top team in California along with regulars on the schedule. NW should definitely ready for playoff matchup with American Heritage this year. And these 4 players listed below will play a big part in that.

Orlando Sentinel reported there were over 10,000 fans at Jones NW game.

Way over 10k both sides were so packed they had to let people stand around the football field. And traffic was crazy. I'm thankful I was not stuck in it coming or going. This is a picture of NW side someone posted.

Oh not a cheap shot lol. But im pretty sure you know where im coming from. Weve both seen dominating teams. Both Da West and Central arent that dominating imo this year. My boy coach oline at Da West. Coach Tee.

Nah I feel you. Oline has improved over the year and I look forward to seeing how next year unfolds. Even with non dominating teams as in the past when the teams play their A game other parts of the state are not consistently on par with the level of play the best teams in South Florida.

Defense wise yes. To me they offense is ok.. Not something to go crazy about..

I can respect that. However we put up 30 in one half against Cent and they gave yall a td that was not a td and took our first td away saying sideline interference. We will be ok. Young freshman qb. Cent defense has to get better next year tho. But at end of the day both teams should be in same this same position next year.
