Agree, with what Florida paying these coaches and the expectations of a place like Glades Central that's a very tough job. I believe that coach is from the area but he came from some where up north moving his family or what not to be let go within two years? What experience coach will take that job with the risk and low pay? I'm not singling out Glades Central but all public schools in the state we have a serious problem....two things are happening guys are coaching to build resumes to leave the state and the other guys getting fired within 2 years for various reasons and these administration teams are conducting nationwide searches as though these jobs are salary jobs instead of stipends....How can you conduct nationwide searches for stipend position what guarantees the administration can give these guys for the move they are making?

Great point didn't think of the push back from teachers, I believe Texas has the same issue with the teachers complaining about the salary of some of the coaches out there.

My question is why doesn't the state allow boosters to raise money for coaches or give these guys incentive performance base contracts? I mean to pay those guys one set stipend if Team A goes 2-8 or 15-0, what is the motivation or carrot for these coaches?
But we then complain when the coaches leave for other states that will pay them for the work they do.

This was broken down perfect for me to understand thanks for the information. The Miami Schools are definitely represented very well each year at the championship games and also they travel very well which will make sense for the state to try to get more Miami schools in there.

I believe we see it more in South Florida because of the talent on this end (Dade, Broward and Palm Beach). The more talent you have the small little details coaches tend to let slide until they catch up with you in key situations. Teams that is built like Venice those small details give them the ability to compete with the programs that is very athletic, they may not win them all but they have a chance in most of them because of the discipline. Calling a "spade a spade" some of those issues is what prompt the shut down of the Oxbridge program, they wanted the image of a Benjamin, Kings or Cardinal Newman but they had more of a "Inner City" look on field. Inner city schools will always have issues with the discipline because of how athletic and successful the programs are for as winning and losing. Look at some of the schools we recognize as un-discipline scores throughout the year both football and basketball. It's hard to tell a kid who is 14-17 years old why it's important to focus on the small details when they can spot a team 14 points and beat them by 28. Great example will be Palm Beach Lakes last game I believe they was down by 20 or so and came back to win that game because of the athleticism from front to back.

Palm Beach Lakes benefited from some movement with coaches around the area and Jack Daniels steeping down from Dwyer, so you speaking about maybe 15-20 guys transferred into Palm Beach Lakes this summer. The staff at Palm Beach Lakes was able to put it together but the only team that can match-up to Palm Beach Lakes in the Palm Beach area was Atlantic but those two didn't play this year. Palm Beach Lakes did open it up on Palm Beach Central who is a decent team but not elite but everyone else they played is below average and some games they struggled out the gates but was able to turn it on late very similar to East Lake. The only reference you can make to Venice would be their K.O.C game versus Rockeledge which they got hammered by 44 points but since then they have pour it on everyone else. I haven't seen much of Venice but from history the last time Venice faced a large school from the West Palm area they hammered Dwyer by 50 points or so.

A lot going on this off season with those two programs. I hope the two programs get back on track (state championships) because high school football is at it best when you have the Glades at the state championship games.

They seem to change coaches on the muck every 3 seasons but always bring back the same assistants and if that happens again I see the problems continuing at both schools trying to get back to their dominant ways.

I wouldn't say it was a down year for Palm Beach County but it wasn't our best year by a mile. I thought this year Dwyer team has a chance to compete with STA and that game turned out to be I believe a running clock. Atlantic showed a lot of promise throughout the regular season and got bounced round 1 in a non competitive game versus Western. Pahokee started off good but drop some questionable games 1 being Seminole Ridge. Palm Beach Central made some moves making it to the 3rd round but was man handled by Deerfield. AH-Delray made it a closer game than expected with C.M but ultimately loss the ball game. Kings Academy had a far better road to the 3a state title game than AH-delray and will have their hands full with C.M this game can get away from them early. Kings haven't played one team on their schedule that resembles C.M so the speed of the game for them can be a culture shock for both players and coaches. The only thing that will keep the game at a reach will be turnovers and un-discipline mistakes by C.M

Mashburns got a reaction from DisabledAccount in Should Florida Consider Pennsylvania's New Transfer Rules?
Student athletes transferring has been the same for about 20 years now the only difference now is that social media has taken off and local reporters report kids movement like front page news so we know much sooner but parents been transferring their kids for years now. You will never fix the problem of kids transferring because most adults/coaches target kids as the problem instead of their parents. Not one kid can enroll/withdraw from any school in the state of Florida so until their are things in place that don't allow parents to enroll their children into any school of their choice then this argument will continue to be an up hill battle to many loop holes in the system in general because once you have a legit reason that reason becomes a loop hole. Player A parents physically moved to the other side of the city....Player B uncle lives on the other side of the city and "supposedly" Player B uncle has full custody over him now.

The most anticipated week in Palm Beach this week a show down between Dwyer and Plam Beach Central. Dwyer on paper has all the tools for Orlando this season and I think we only have two schools in county that can challenge them for 4 quarters and that's Palm Beach Central possibility Atlantic or Pahokee. This the first time in a while I can remember that two schools who arguably the best in our county face off the first game of the season I really hope the 1's play at least 2 or 3 quarters before subs rotation

Dwyer Vs Palm Beach Central K.O.C
This the first time in a long time in this county where Pre-season #1 and #2 will play each other the very first game of the season. Both teams will have expectations of Orlando this season with Dwyer test will be STA and Palm Beach Central test more likely Deerfield  or Southridge. These two teams facing each other in the classic game says a lot about the two teams with their expectations and I think on paper right now this game can go either way with me giving the knob to Dwyer with their Head coach who has experience in these big games and atmosphere. This will game will have tons of D1 talent running around the field I have counted at least potentially 20 guys in the 2019 class along. I'm sure their will be plenty of updates leading up to this game from myself and others within the county area.

They wanted to go into that direction a year ago so it's no surprise locally of the move to de-emphasize the "athletic program" which means football all other athletics will be untouched but the football program they did not want anymore. When they didn't bring back the first coach on the renewal of his contract they was sending the statement then that the direction of the school did not include football. I feel bad for the coaches at that program who committed to the kids and program giving there time and the school moving away from that ideal

Oxbridge Academy- Had to adjust this post Oxbridge will out my top 10 for now seeing what direction the program go into.
Pahokee- All roads lead to Orlando for Pahokee if they can avoid a mental let down in the playoffs Pahokee has the chance to go 15-0 and another state title this year
Dwyer- They have the potential to be the  best team in Palm Beach County this year and one of the top in 7a, the question will be at QB if they can find one there I can see a 3rd round matchup with STA with the edge going to STA.
Palm Beach Central- Probably has the most talent on one team in Palm Beach County this year, this is also a team that has the potential to be the best in Palm Beach County this year we are actually blessed this year in West Palm because Dwyer and Atlantic both play Central to start as well as Dwyer and Atlantic both play each other and Oxbridge also has Atlantic so we shall be able to tell early the top 5. But I expect Central to be right up there in 8a this year
Atlantic- Just find a way to reload they tied with a very good MNW team but they had plenty opportunities but they didnt cash in but it is also spring. Atlantic has the size and speed also the experience to be right back in Orlando I wouldn't be surprised
American Heritage- They have a good group that can challenge C.M this year I will give the edge to C.M but that's right now but just like Oxbridge I will have to wait to the end of the Summer transfer season before I make a prediction on Heritage but they returned a lot and they actually lost a lot to transfers but if they can replace them they have a chance for a good year
Glades Central- Athletes can match anyone in their classification but I think they will run into trouble up front not stopping the run and also not establishing some type of run game which those two are very important when talking playoff time but they will have a decent year but not to the standard of the fans in the glades
Seminole Ridge- Had a very good year last season making the playoffs I don't see much drop off there or any change as well I see a first round ceiling on seminole ridge but will be a top 10 team in Palm Beach this year but more at the bottom of the 10
Park Vista- The best coaching staff in our County find a way to win with little every season also the most discipline team and very good on defense because of that they will hang around the top 10 and may sneak in the playoffs similar to last season and this one team and coaching staff you don't want to face they have the potential to upset any opponent but they have a second round ceiling
Boca- Has arguably the best Qb in our in Palm Beach County if he stay there with the summer transfer season coming very soon they have some nice tools around him they can be a team that will be very similar to seminole ridge I don't expect them to make the playoffs because of their district but I wouldn't be surprised if a game or two that QB can heat up and make things interesting

    Top 10 Order
    1. Dwyer
    2. Palm Beach Central
    3. Pahokee
