  1. No Schedule at all for Blanche Ely. One would think someone in So Fla has blown a gasket by now.
  2. 8/4/21 Update: Not much progress- I'm about 20% through my second pass of Maxpreps and the schedules are still a cluster@#%$. Check this one out: Central Florida Christian Academy 27-Aug Oasis 27-Aug Mount Dora Christian Academy 27-Aug St. Petersburg Catholic 3-Sep Victory Charter School 3-Sep St. Petersburg Catholic 10-Sep Cornerstone Charter Academy 24-Sep Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 24-Sep St. Joseph Academy 1-Oct Bishop McLaughlin Catholic 1-Oct St. Edward's 1-Oct Gateway Charter 8-Oct Cocoa Beach 8-Oct Cedar Creek Christian 15-Oct Bell Creek Academy 15-Oct Cedar Creek Christian 15-Oct Santa Fe Catholic 22-Oct Bell Creek Academy Seriously? Yes I do complain a lot. Back in my day, one of two things happened when we had complainers such as myself: 1) The "squeaky" wheel got the oil. And Management resolved the problem. or 2) The "complainer" was assigned the task of resolving the problem. Unfortunately, in today's world, this "problem" will go unsolved because: The lack of accurate schedules is not viewed as a "problem" because no one has assigned an associated monetary impact to this issue. Does anyone want to take a shot at estimating lost revenue due to faulty schedules?
  3. Darter, as we discussed many times before. I’d love to take a crack at it. I have to put them all together anyway. I just don’t have the school contact clout and authority. I’m retired so I’ll take minimum wage. Just waiting for somebody to please contact me.
  4. With only seven weeks remaining until Kick-off Classic weekend, I'm starting to get antsy about the limited amount football schedules we are seeing. Taking a look at the progress shown on Max Preps' website, I checked out Florida's 560+ teams to see what was up. This is what I've found. 124 schools (about 1/4) have 10 game schedules with no conflicts. 45 schools show they are playing multiple opponents on the same day. Subsequently, this affects another 90 schools who are listed as opponents on those dates. 45 are correct and 45 will be incorrect. The biggest culprits are Island Coast, Lehigh, Lafayette and Keswick Christian but there are 41 other schools also playing two teams at the same time. 18 schools do not have any games scheduled (Some of these are new and some may not be playing 11 man football this year) 12 schools have only 1 game scheduled 29 schools have only 2 games scheduled 31 schools have only 3 games scheduled 45 schools have only 4 games scheduled 32 schools have only 5 games scheduled Not counting the 18 teams with no games, this leaves 149 schools with less than 5 games scheduled. In summary, we have a long way to go in a very short time. Schools need to get crankin' and MaxPreps needs to get their site updated and cleaned up in a hurry. One would think, maybe it's time to look at this as a business, because it is. I know if my company didn't know where it was going 50 days from now, heads would roll. Including mine.
  5. A review of the recently released 21-22 football classifications raises the following questions: 1) Mulberry is listed twice. Shows as 3A but also as an Independent 2) The following schools are not listed. Most would be Independents but Haines City? All Saints' American Collegiate (Clearwater) Clearwater Academy International Haines City Hillel (North Miami Beach) Inlet Grove (Riviera Beach) Jordan Christian Prep (Auburndale) Joshua Christian (Jacksonville) Lighthouse Private Christian Academy (Pensacola) Northwest Christian (Miami) St. John Lutheran (Ocala) St. Johns Country Day (Orange Park) Surge Academy (Hollywood) Tampa Bay Christian TRU Prep (Miami Gardens) West Oaks Academy (Orlando) Young Kids In Motion (Jacksonville) Zarephath Academy (Jacksonville)
  6. gatorman-uf, I'd like to see it but I doubt it would be possible. Very few if any of these small schools will ever be household names. What I would really like to see is a leveling of the playing field. The current structure has become so imbalanced that we have been seeing the same top teams from all division’s year in and year out. There are numerous reasons but I believe changes need to be made to keep it interesting. FBS - Must expand the playoff field to at least 8 teams immediately. This would help other schools by giving them something to play for and give other schools a chance to recruit better talent. Alabama, Ohio St, Clemson and a few others overwhelmingly win the recruiting war each year. This is not going to get better. Under the current format only half of the FBS programs have a "mathematical" chance to win a National Title because G5 schools are basically excluded. This should be outlawed. FCS - Must be eliminated. This would require an NCAA change in policy. In 1995 the NCAA mandated that any school playing D1 basketball must also play football at the D1 level. This has created a huge imbalance in the talent level of FCS teams. There are many programs playing FCS (1AA) football that should be playing D2 or D3 football. They just cannot compete. What they do get is a huge financial gain for playing FBS programs during the regular season. Obviously the $ is not being used to improve their football teams. I mean, should Miami be playing Central Connecticut State this year? Really? Who wants to watch that? Basketball schools such Butler and Georgetown most likely make use of the money elsewhere. They are never going to be football powers. On the flip side, there are several FCS schools that should be playing FBS football. North Dakota St, South Dakota St, James Madison, Northern Iowa and a dozen or so others, can easily hold their own against most of the Top 75 programs in FBS. This division actually makes no sense and needs to be dismantled. You are either D1 or you are not. D2 - Has had various champions over the years and there is not much room for improvement other that the fact there needs to be more out of conference matchups during the regular season. Several conferences play only within the conference until the post season. D3 - Consisting of nearly 250 schools, dominated by 20 or 30 teams that actually take football seriously. D3 is basically glorified "Club Ball." Most of the teams are slightly better than decent high school teams. IMG, St. Thomas Aquinas and Miami Central would probably compete for the national title every year. There are no athletic scholarships awarded at the D3 level. NAIA - Roughly 90 schools. Slightly better overall than NCAA D3 teams. The Top programs are equivalent to the Top teams in D3. Personally, I would like to see more conferences. For example, The Mid-South Conference consisted of 22 teams in 3 divisions. Other than that, everything is just "peachy."

  8. Die hard college football fans will be happy to see this: The college football spring season began last weekend and will continue into May of 2021. The magnitude of teams participating may shock some people. There are 299 colleges scheduled to play over 760 games throughout the spring. FBS - 1 team (New Mexico St) FCS - 96 teams NCAA D2 - 52 teams NCAA D3 - 103 teams NAIA - 47 teams

FOUND ANOTHER ONE- ScoreStream had the Coral Gables vs. South Dade score reversed. Actual Final was South Dade 14, Coral Gables 3 I watched the highlight video to verify. Here's a rare case where MaxPreps had it correct. Unacceptable.

So sorry but I haven't logged on in a while as I had to attend to some personal issues. The South Florida score reporting was a complete disaster this year. I'd like to blame it all on Covid but even it can't shoulder the entire blame. As usual it appears nobody is "responsible" for score reporting and score reporting accuracy. This is ridiculous. Like the rest of you I scour the internet each and every weekend to get scores. ScoreStream, MaxPreps, On line newspapers, etc. On average there are 10-15 games per week that simply cannot be found anywhere. In the past, when schools provided the FHSAA with results, it would take maybe 4-5 days at the most for them to get the "stragglers" posted. It was still a pain in the a$$ but I could work with it. I had to. Now we have this MP site that has been given responsibility for maintaining everything and it simply doesn't get the job done. I'm absolutely positive MP is not entirely to blame but scores can trickle in for several weeks after games are played. This is unacceptable. As Nolesbull said It's 2021! There is only one way to solve it and it must be maintained by the governing body. Force schools to report the scores. Failure to do so results in a forfeit. End of story. Now, as a result of Nolesbull's post, I went back through MaxPreps and found several results that must have been entered way after the games were played. I must assume these are accurate and will update my records accordingly. All of these are from south Florida: Booker T Washington 32, Miami Norland 7 Coral Reef 35, Miami Beach 0 Goleman 12, Surge Academy 0 Goleman 35, Miami Springs 0 Hallandale 8, Piper 0 John I Leonard 10, Village Academy 0 Jupiter 34, Park Vista 0 Miami Jackson 12, Southwest Miami 10 Miami Springs 50, Miami Beach 0 North Miami Beach 39, Miami Jackson 0 Northeast (Oakland Park) 38, Pompano Beach 7 Palm Beach Central 46, Taravella 0 Pembroke Pines Charter 45, Taravella 6 Pine Crest 21, LaSalle 0 Somerset Silver Palms 42, Everglades Prep 0 South Broward 12, Cooper City 0 South Dade 16, Southwest Miami 6 Also, here is another which I found and laughed at but believe it or not, MP actually has it posted just like this: Coconut Creek 40, Pembroke Pines Charter 0 (OT)

  14. Exactly Nulli. A lot of people don’t like the 1/2 a title thing. I understand why but I’m a believer that no championship game should have ever ended in a tie. I believe you can’t give the full benefit of a state championship to the teams that tied because they did not prove they were better than every other team in their classification.

  18. OK. I've done my best at this. Going over the past 10 seasons and looking at 400+ schools that do not play on neutral sites (ie Traz Powell, etc.). I have come to the conclusion that there is a home field advantage, albeit ever so slight.
  19. As I tried to explain a year ago, over the past 20 seasons our games are getting less competitive and less interesting. I've gone back and looked at the 53,000 + games played from 2001 to our current point in 2020. Should something be done? Our games on average are simply not very attractive unless you have a family friend or relative participating.
  20. Nolebull813, Did you have Zarapeth Academy on your list?
  21. Here are the worst programs of the 21st century. All of these schools have participated each year (2000 - present) and have less than a .250 winning pct.. They are consistently sub-bar. To Nolebull's point, notice how many of these teams are on OldSchoolLions' seven year list. Leto (Tampa) Poinciana (Kissimmee) Spanish River (Boca Raton) Interlachen Stanton (Jacksonville) Miami Coral Park Cypress Creek (Orlando) Bronson Lecanto Forest Hill (WP Beach) Pine Ridge (Deltona) Lake Placid *Englewood (Jacksonville) comes in right at .250
  22. IMG (new program 2013) Lakeland St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale) Armwood (Seffner) Madison County (Madison) Bolles (Jacksonville) Oxbridge - now defunct (2013-2017) St. Augustine Miami Central Naples Cocoa Plant (Tampa) Dwyer (Palm Beach Gardens) Washington (Miami) American Heritage (Plantation) List includes on-field performance only.
