  1. It seems as though this is a family reunion, Columbia High, dawg just rattlin' his chainz...... You see me?!?!?!?! I will play nice Big Cat.
  2. UH YEAH! Maybe not Insane, USAIN? You know better than to play with my emotions. Keep your cat from scratchin' on DEEZ. SC - played the Juggernaughts: Haines City 1-9, DEEEEland 2-8, and Mandarin 2-8 Boone play 5 teams with 8 wins COMBINED, GUY! You act like the Freedom and CC was sought out. If you know dis conference, then you know those are not optional, yet ANOTHER reason this particular system disadvantages teams that have conference obligations. If you are SLAPPERY then you know truth when you see it and you can also take a lick' soooooooo, Willie, Weyland and Me will be where we were the first time we did this dance, Jit!
  3. I believe is you took top 16 teams, extended playoff 1 week backwards (9 game season, not 10), then you do pick up District Champ, Runner ups, AND and strong 3rd in a district. that is where the argument lies and what the system was originally meant to correct. Is a 3rd in a strong district stronger than the 2nd in a weaker district. That is what you see being the controversy this year. Instead of points or committees deciding that pick them both up and let them play. If they are good enough, they win 1st round.
  4. Yes, Doggie, Yes that is what i'm saying I am saying that if Spruce Creek or Boone put DP/Apopka/Wekiva/even Jones on their schedule they would not be 8-2, or better - that is the point. BRO - Spruce did not even play a Cat 1 or 2, the one the HAD to play they lost. Boone at least did, but some lower Class Cat 1, 2. So yes arguable, always is in every division, except in your Fantasy League. Which brings me back to: Wins matter to you - no matter who it is against and somehow that equates to best 8 in the Region based on classification.....that is fallacy. If you want the best 8 Teams that can schedule.....well you may have that...... but i have mentioned these senarios on here and won't rehash. If you are looking for insanity, your assumption that the number in the W column solely equates to the best - that would be just a little insane. So I am speaking to a FOUNDER and soothsayer of knowledge, ROOK?!?!?!? If you are really, then you know the rules of the board. It could have very possibly been your mom, in fact, I am almost certain....How old are you?.......and don't act like you got a girl, Guy!
  5. I will try and keep this civil since that is the rules of the board, but you miss my entire point, Precious, maybe because you are so worried about being funny. What i said was that West Orange 6-4 is top 8..... Spruce Creek - NO Cat 1 wins. Boone - 1 Cat 1 win (7A Edgewater,) 2 Cat 2 wins,(Lk Nona, Gateway) You don't think there is a legitimate argument about bubble teams? My contention is 16 teams alleviates the discussion. And frankly, if you could care less, then I'm not talking to you, Sugar. So while you hidin' behind your, 1 Post, Rookie, Morph, PuppyDawg, I'm gonna go ahead and speak on a legitimate criticism. [redacted]
  6. Well they Could Cat, they could.....it really depends on whether you want to fix a mistake or not. the 11th game of the season, would be irrelevant to points if the field was expanded in the last week. No top seeds would not complain (because they would seemingly get an easier seeding then 5-8), all you have to do is reroute buses. But it was seen coming, everyone was watching it evolve, it could have been done week 9, week 10, all of that i mentioned was known, except for the self reporting, but the rest was enough to invoke such executive change. I agree it is more work than running a few numbers through an algorithm, IF it were important not to squander away a young kid's opportunity, IF that were top priority, then no, not much work at all.
  7. Had to pull this out of the Muck because I would like to say my last piece on it and here from you all. Columbia Cat mentioned to me deep in one of these threads, that people who schedule cupcakes will be exposed and he is correct, Here is my response, where am I wrong Gentlemen: but that is my point. If there is that much "variable" in good teams and cupcakes, Then You don't take it out of the hands of the teams, the players, the Kids. You don't split the hair of top 8 when a Loss to a Top 5 team in a class is Trumped by another team who beats a lower class team who Cat 1s a weak district and favorable schedule. You put 16 teams out there Week 1 and let THAT expose the cupcakes, Not a computer or Committee. Last time I will say this until somebody wants to talk about Change in this Post season format in some manner. West Orange: Loses to Olympia in final seconds, 8A playoff team Cat 2 Loses to Dr. Phillips #1 team in State at the time (was leading at half), 8A playoff team Cat 1 Loses to Wekiva in final seconds, top 10 in State, 8A playoff team, Cat 1 Loses to Jones, Top 10 team in State, shut them out 2nd Half-JHS lowest point total playoff team, Cat 1 Beats Apopka, #1 Team in the State at the time. Finishes 6-4, with 4 game win streak on the way out, District Runner up to Wekiva, (Apopka 3rd in District) with all games away due to condemned stadium(Irma). Now I'm not saying put West Orange directly in Camping World Stadium, but that's not top 8 in the region????? Compare that to the rest of the region who is IN................ Hard to say that is not as good as, or better than 5, 6, 7, or 8, in 8A Region 1. One of which they beat Head to Head. This is why your numbers aren't reliable enough to parse an 8 team playoff. You like your system fine, keep it, but then you open up the first round to 16 teams and let the kids have the opportunity, your numbers can SEED teams. Otherwise you are going to have to weigh a lot more factors in your system. Because the only people you hurt by this is 30 seniors, most of who will never play again and playoffs are really the only reason they work all year long. I'm not playing my own violin, that goes for ALL schools, who ever gets put in this situation, these kids work year round with most of them only wanting the opportunity to get to one post season and then they are done, DONE, forever.........And you want to allow "points to determine that. You are telling me THIS system accurately distinguishing from 7-3 to 5-5, with varying wins, degree of difficulty and weight of classification???????????? Enough so to say 'These are the top 8".......Really????????? I say that because the FHSAA system says, "Executive Director has discretion to waive......" That was put there for a reason. You (meaning the powers that be) saw the gaming of the system, you heard the complaints coming in, you saw the unusually odd and multiple self-reporting immediately after district play closed, you saw the canceling of games to get better averages, you saw ALL of it, and then decided to ride out a not fully-vetted system, making a bad decision worse, especially when dealing with kids. And no one is saying flip back to the old, but when you see it is screwed up, You open the playing field and let the kids sort it out on the field. This system takes it out of the kids hands. With all due respect to you and all my colleagues and friends, you know this to be true.

  9. Unfortunately that does nothing for the seniors who will graduate this year...... kind of thought the whole idea was to get the best of the best in, that would mean teams that schedule tough will have a loss or 2 but some good wins, Not schedule average teams and get in on points. Some of these "great match ups" yall see out there, aren't going to be a great as they look.
  10. Just asking here Magic. and you think what Wildwood did was good.....that that is what needs to go to playoffs? How is that measure best team?
  11. Did the 4th place team jump over 2nd and 3rd in the district and did 2nd or 3rd not make the playoffs?
  12. But the intention of this system was to put best teams from one district to replace weaker districts. OF you place 3rd in over a Runner up from the same district you are saying they are better... You want to make that argument, do it by Seeding them higher, but BOTH are in.......this system does not reflect that. Example, Apopka come in as highest at large possibly, and jumped a runner up who may is excluded from the playoffs (by the numbers). So you are saying Apopka is stronger (points say) than a team that beat them head to head.....? OK, fair enough, So West Orange is not better than Apopka (numbers say) Is West Orange Good enough to be, 6, 7, 8? I mean, that is what you are saying, If Apopka were 8 then you could say, that possibly. This system does not take into consideration of Class, Ranking at time of play, points scored/points allowed, strength of schedule, YET IT IS BEING USE TO DETERMINE DISTRICT, REGIONAL POST SEASON AND SEEDING? If you want to do That, then throw out district and Class and play ball. OR Maybe let the teams play and it will work out, team at the end, is the best. 16 Teams - Play it out. *
  13. YES And since you are already on the numbers, Badbird. How many of those runner ups that miss getting in, are jumped by the 3rd place team in from their own district......one whom they beat head to head?
  14. HUH YEAH! * this season.
  15. Yes i did suggest that, but you alleviate the 8 team fiasco about to occur with trying to figure out the 10th win(11th week) and 8/9 games seasons v. 10 game seasons and effects of self reporting ineligibility (which I am sure there is more over the last 3 days). By accepting up to 16 teams in the last week, you make the last week irrelevant (except for seeding issues) which I think is far less of a complaint as opposed to "Why are we Out?"
  16. It makes sense to give a team a chance who is deserving, than to exclude a team a chance who is deserving; which can be done with minimal effort! (you can use that in your signature if you would like, Gentlemen!)
  17. What do you mean you can't change everybody's opponent?!?!?!?! Nobody knows their opponent for certain til next week. You Changed my opponent somewhat certainty last year when you removed runner ups. This was mentioned last year, year before, every season before and before season. You can extend playoffs 1 week. But cant do . . . .OH now there would be a certain rule and line we just don't cross. Cat, you are about to put 3rd place team into the playoffs and #2 is out, the number to that beat them, not just lower seed OUT OF THE PLAYOFFS. I would say that violates the some certain rule and lines we don't cross.
  18. 1. Winter Park 16. Lyman (5-5 projected) 2. FPC 15. Mandarin 3. Wekiva 14. Evans 4. Lk Mary 13. Sandalwood 5. Apopka 12. Lk. Brantley 6.Seminole 11. West Orange 7. Spruce Creek 10. Oviedo 8. Boone 9. Univ. (Orange City) If you didn't make it you were 2-8 or lower. Did this in 3 minutes (i type slow). You can call every school on this list and they will not object, probably not even the one's who are not on it. FHSAA can do this RIGHT NOW and only bus transportation would be affected for tomorrow's 1st round game. I'm Drinking coffee, now that the hard work figuring out the playoff is done.... thinking bout round 1. Yall complicate things. Get out of the way and let the kids play it out!
  19. to me when you start factoring in bonus you are factoring "Human interference" in the factor for reason you have discussed and it doesn't take into current standing. Example: I get 3 points for playing TC who was playoff team in past year or two. Could finish 5-5, 6-4 Cat 2 Team, instead 2-7 Cat 4 ............oh, +3 ..............uh. How bout you win football games, if you are top 16 you play, This eliminates ANY issue of whose 7-3, 5-5 record is better...... BTW - IF Apopka loses to Oak Ridge, they will be 6-4, The same as West Orange, BUT Apopka would be IN, West Orange is OUT, and West Orange Beat Apopka...... * This season.
  20. Look selection committee isn't gonna solve the politic and discussion. Neither is this system the way it is now. BUT you can solve it and you could do it IMMEDIATELY without causing issue. 1) USE THE SAME POINT SYSTEM IF YOU WANT (i dont think its the best indicator but it will only affect seeding) 2) 9 GAME SEASON, WEEK 9 OPEN TO SORT PLAYOFFS(COULD GO 10 THIS IS SO EASY). 3) TOP 16 TEAMS ARE IN, SEED THEM, PLAY You only add 1 week to post season, but you short regular season. IF YOU ARE IN THE THE BOTTOM 1/3 OF YOUR REGION AND DON'T GET IN YOU HAVE NO ARGUMENT - YOU ARE SUB 500......BUT IT DOES RESOLVE IS TEAM A's 7-3 BETTER THAN TEAM B's 6-4, OR 5-5. IT DOESN'T MATTER, YOU ARE IN - PROVE IT. YOUR RECORD WILL ONLY AFFECT SEEDING....YOU WANT BETTER SEEDING? WIN MORE DURING REGULAR SEASON! This takes the "Politic" out of the argument, it is decided on the field by the teams and THEN you don't get into a situation where you have a 3rd place team jumping a runner up, is the runner up better than District *^'s runner up. YOU PLAY! AND LET THE CHIPS FALL WHERE THEY MAY! YOU COULD DO THIS TODAY! It would add a week right now OR cancel everybody's tomorrows games, shuffle transportation, Play ROUND 1 TOMORROW OR SATURDAY. I bet this would receive overwhelming support. if not unanimous, at least for future. I WOULD LIKE TO SEE IT DONE TODAY BEFORE I HAVE TO SIT AND WATCH A PLAYOFF SEASON THAT WILL EXCLUDE TOP TEAMS....... TAKE IT OUT OF THE ADULTS HANDS AND PUT IN THE PLAYERS HANDS TO PLAY IT OUT!
  21. The Intent (or at least one of the major ones) was that small/weaker districts should not get an Automatic runner up bid, where stronger districts have more than 3 schools that would qualify or better. Example, several years back the District 1 8A district was made up of Sandalwood, Mandarin and somebody (Terry Parker maybe). Well all those teams had to do was win 2 games and they would win the district, win 1 and you make the playoffs and literally there was a string of years the one, if not both, those teams went into the playoffs sub 500, while the rest of the North beat the crap out of each other and only two went. Now, If that is the intent, you don't get that in 8A District 4, the intent was to HONOR STRONG DISTRICTS, NOT HAVE A NUMBER 3 JUMP OVER A LEGITIMATE RUNNER UP OR THE 3 IN DISTRICT 4 MAY BE STRONGER THAN A RUNNER UP IN THE OTHER 3? And you think there are only 4 self reporting.......i am sure there is another waive coming, if they are not already there, will they deal with them is the question? Maybe i'm wrong but strange to have 4 self report, that close together at this time of year......after districts close. I would propose you go down to 16 teams in region this year and add a week, because you can't fix all this nonsense...... otherwise...... You can put a BIG OL' * on this season!
