  1. FSU will be offering a camp next year to teach kids how to line up correctly.
  2. I see this being a low-scoring game. I watched Chaminade-Madonna play American Heritage and CM had a stout, well-rounded defense. And Jessica would remind us that CM is a team that seems to gel as the season progresses. I would be surprised if they gave up many points in a state final. I heard Thad Franklin has been nursing an injury. But, I've noticed CM has another back or two who have been making noise. Assuming Franklin plays, these other backs may give him enough rest to break a big run off in the final. That said, the key will be TC stopping CM's running game. If they do, they have a chance, If not, CM may be tough to beat, even with a rather one-dimensional offense.
  3. nothing new...about 10 years ago nothing new folks...anyone remember thois
  4. Sometimes the refs do the best of things
  5. ...possible reasons why Eustis does not win state titles anymore. https://www.wftv.com/news/local/eustis-hs-kicker-accused-playing-drunk-game/286664378/
  6. Only Tampa Catholic, Berkeley Prep and Jesuit recruit. C'mon.
  7. In the history of the FHSAA, only two teams have ever won a region, state semifinal, and classification final ALL by shutout. Both teams are from north FL. Who are they and what year did each do it?
  8. Cocoa destroyed Satellite and Rockledge likely would have as well. So Brevard has Cocoa and Rockledge and then there is a huge gap. In another thread, Keem mentioned the disadvantage of Cocoa playing local teams. This data makes it obvious why. There really is no "local" competition for Rockledge and Cocoa, at least not within the county. The thread I just did on Hillsborough shows a similar phenomenon. To some extent, all of the more populous counties seem to experiencing the same ...a relative few "rich" schools and everyone else. We talk about a disappearing middle class and a growing lower class in the US. I see the same happening in hs football. It is causing certain schools to have to travel to find competition. The fan is enduring more blowouts. And possibly some potential players don't come out because their school has a losing program. As more schools come on line, I see the situation only getting worse.
  9. Eustis was the last Lake County team to play in a semi, back in 1983. They went on to win the 2A title.
  10. Good guess, but no sir. Clermont last went to a semi in 1980 and another school went later than that.
  11. Am watching Wisconsin play. They've got a walk-on wr who is 5'7 174 lbs. He just lined up at TE! There is hope for undersized players with dawg in them.
  12. A holiday gift for that special poster in your life.
  13. "I don't normally wear deodorant, but when I do, I wear Hawthorne."
  14. Below are the average points per game allowed this season by each of the teams still alive in the playoffs. Teams that allow on average more than 14 points per game don't typically win state titles. That's a fact supported by data over the years. Let's see if any of the teams with higher points allowed averages(bolded below) get exposed over the next couple of weeks. Of all the matchups next weekup, Lake Minneola vs St Augustine has the biggest differential. 8A teams are playing some serious defense this year! 8A Apopka-9 Palmetto-10 Seminole-12 Osceola-12 7A St Thomas Aquinas-12 Bloomingdale-14 Niceville-14 Edgewater-21 6A Lake Minneola-8 Miami Central-12 Palmetto-17 St Augustine-19 5A Dunnellon-8 American Heritage Plantation-12 Rickards-13 Jesuit-15 4A Cardinal Gibbons-11 Bolles-12 3A Chaminade-Madonna-9 Trinity Christian-11 2A Champagnat Catholic-14 University Christian-20 1A Hawthorne-11 Baker-14
  15. Hint: 4 state titles winners went undefeated this past decade. 3 of the teams were from Central FL.
  16. Hints: #3 This old school team had three undefeated seasons in a decade at a time when this was pretty unheard of. #9 Both of these teams have won 5 or more state titles.
  17. There is nothing quite like driving through the backwoods of Georgia and Alabama on a Friday night and listening to the good ol boy commentators on the radio. Those are some hardcore hs football fans.
  18. Vero's broadcasts are amazing. Even if someone is not a Vero fan, one can easily follow along through the season. It's like a TV show, ie the fellow playing the harmonica last night.
  19. #turbidity...the guy really needs some new material
  20. Counting that high might be a problem.
