And speaking of Frier I will point out despite what some liars in Live Oak are claiming he is actually a Lake City kid and Columbia didn't resort to recruiting to get him to play at Columbia

He did transfer but I do know his family lives in Lake City. He is extremely fast and an excellent player.

Agree 100 percent. It’s not hyperbole. It reminds me of Pop Warner where you have volunteer parents as the coaches and they don’t understand nuances, trends and flows of a football game.

That’s why alot of more talented FL teams will go out of state and struggle against inferior competition. Coaching is huge at the high school level.

Completely agree. We are quite behind when it comes to coaching as a whole, obviously we have some great coaches.

I Watched most of the game live. Creekside would not adjust at all. On defense they were getting gashed every single play and they still came out in the same formation. On offense they would run the ball for 2 yards on 1st down, 2 yards on second down, throw an incomplete pass on 3rd and then punt. Rinse, repeat.

The coaches looked lost. and I get it was raining but it doesn’t just rain on one team.

The reason they won this is because Glynn is not very good either. Creekside dang sure ain’t top 60 in state

In NE Florida, I have seen quite a bit of mediocre coaching the past couple of weeks. Everybody runs the same thing on offense (and nobody does it well) and then just stays in their base defense all night regardless of what’s happening. If somebody would do something different, they could mop up in this area. It’s pretty horrible to watch. The penalties are higher than I’ve ever seen. It’s a disservice to the kids and the communities.

It's because they decided to put us with Clay County instead of Tallahassee but we all know Lincoln is afraid of Columbia which is why they ran after Columbia kicked their ass in 2015 and since then they refuse to play us and being in the state capitol they were able to use political influence to keep us away

Lincoln has no political influence. Especially when the FHSAA isn’t even in Tallahassee and is right down the road from you. They had to put you in that district for balancing purposes

Billed as the game of the week in Central Florida, it lived up to its billing.  A back and forth game that we had a chance to win in regulation but hats off to them blocking the extra point to send the game into Overtime 20-20. They won the toss and of course decided to go on offense last.  On the first play of OT from the 10, Sophomore sensation Taevion Swint punched his 4th TD of the game and we hit the extra point for a 27-20 lead.  On their possession, one of their receivers caught a short pass around the 5 on second down and managed to drag one of our secondary defenders into the endzone.  After a timeout they elected to go for 2 and dialed up an excellent pass play to score the winning 2 points.  Fans on both sides definitely got their monies worth and Seminole offense will definitely be problematic for anyone.  They ended up being the better team making a couple more plays than us and certainly deserve their ranking at the top of 4M.   Most pundits didn't think we could win or even be this close.   We will see how we can continue to  improve for the remainder of the season to come out on top in these type of games.

Who’d you guys play at QB tonight? Sounds like an awesome game. I think Osceola is certainly one of the favorites to win 4S and same with Seminole in 4M

Ouch... 31-24, didn't see that coming. Hope ColumbiaFan is ok.
Lost 4 straight going back to last season.
Now they have Deland coming to town.
4-5 looking like a strong possibility right now.

Was going to say the same. Union County is solid for a 1R but they shouldn’t be beating nor even competing with Columbia.

Deland isn’t great but they’re going to be a tough out. I see 5-4 or 4-5 as most likely scenarios

I’m gonna keep tabs on the new teams that are playing 11 man varsity football for the first time this year. Week 1 was a tough one with all the rookie teams going a combined 0-5-1

Somerset Prep Lost to Somerset Silver Palms 14-8

Beachside Lost to Toccoi Creek 36-19

BridgePrep Lost to Palmer Trinity 51-0

Riverside Christian Tied Georgia Christian 12-12

Impact Christian Lost to Harvest Community 20-6

Tradition Prep Lost to American Heritage-Delray 49-8

Destin and Roar Prep were off

I only know about Beachside. They took kids from Bartram Trail (I edited this for clarification) and Nease so they’re in a tough position as well as being in a county that doesn’t allow much movement amongst students. Great area

Yeah Baker struggled but despite what some have done that game was not final so I'm not considering the game until they complete it in week 7 that's why since Baker County was already in the first 10 out I just left them there

When you say NE Florida what counties are you talking?

Nassau, Duval, Baker, St Johns, Clay, Putnam, Union, Bradford, Suwannee, and Columbia.

  10. Looking at the NE Florida area:

TCA vs Bolles will be good, definitely the two best teams in the area.

Baker County looked significantly worse than expected against Bradford. Nease should not be first 10 out, losing against an Andrew Jackson team that is not very good. Ed White is as expected, a very solid team.

NE Florida is quite weak right now. No real state title contenders with the transition to the new metro/suburban groups.

Transfers were getting out of hand up here too but it wasn't as publicized as it was in SFL so people assumed it was just a SFL issue

Jacksonville probably is as bad as much of SFL but the media up here cover it up so people don't realize how bad the transfers are here, and rural teams may have to deal with less poachers but don't act like teams like MNW and Central aren't taking 10-15 FBS every off-season

If you can point to any county west of Jacksonville and east of Tallahassee that has 10-15 FBS players going to a single school in one off-season I'll leave this board LMAO

Hell I would probably have to combine Suwannee, Columbia, Hamilton, Union, Baker and Madison County together to attempt to get 10-15 FBS players for the ENTIRE AREA

And again my point is why would Central even want to play teams that as you are basically saying are clearly inferior?

Jacksonville isn’t as bad because there aren’t that many FBS players. Ed White added a bunch but nobody else added many players this year (especially quality players).

That’s gonna be another tough one , tigers have to wake up they can’t start the season 0-2 , especially with a uninspiring win vs swuannee a team they should have blew out.

it’s a long season but you also don’t want to lose the confidence in your players so early on.

They play Union County next. TCA is at the end of September

Florida significantly lacks the funding and support of GA which was apparent with what I saw at Lowndes but Florida talent is far better and sometimes talent matters more than money and nice stadiums

I've always said if you gave Florida programs half the support and money that some these south Georgia or Texas teams had Florida would be so far ahead of the rest of the country in every aspect that no state could realistically compete year to year

The coaching in GA is far better, the programs are set up better (think K-12, not 9-12), and the athletes are very similar. Lowndes is not a very good team this year, they may get 4th out 5 in their region. Colquitt vs AHP would’ve been a much better game.

Speaking of boarding students on campus, my now retired doctor's son from Daytona Beach lived on the Jacksonville Bolles campus in a rehabbed motel converted to a student dorm. This was in the early 2000's. Also Chipper Jones (H.O.F Atlanta Braves) from Pierson, FL  left his parent's home to play high school baseball at Bolles. This also was many years ago. One would think if they could did it back then in Jacksonville anybody could (STA) if they had the dorms after dotting the i's and crossing the t's.

Many of Bolles swimming Olympians did/do the same. Awesome campus. I wonder how they’ll be this year.

I'm a fan, not the coach so it isn't for me to decide or speculate.  If we get good weather Friday we will learn soon enough.

Ahh I understand. I wasn’t impressed when I saw Buggs but I haven’t seen much out of Holland either (other than knowing that he’s a great athlete)

Agree, as most years in our area the first 2-3 weeks of HS football we have to endure showers (but we see a game).  When lightning gets in the mix it is not fun for most fans to show up and not see a game.

Is Buggs starting at QB over Holland?
