  1. You might as well try spitting in the desert and hoping grass will grow, as those odds would be better before Columbia Fan would ever understand how the state of Florida budget works in as far as allocation of tax revenue to generate tourism dollars versus revenue allocated for education.......................been there, tried that and it was a pointless endeavor in hindsight.
  2. Lee has a problem with turnovers and its been key to the losses they've had this season, including the 21-12 loss last night..........ColumbiaFan's statement on beating Lee in the postseason "Its personal" causes me to be reminded of this song by Thrid eye blind......should Columbia HS once again find itself in a early exit position from the postseason this year...........
  3. Miami was independent during the 70's and actively sought out national powers in its attempt to give the program some sense of legitimacy nationally.....lets not forget this was the program that lost to FAMU in 1979...(16-13), in Schnellenberger's 1st year at Miami......to give you and idea where the program was at that point. Same can be said of FSU who prior to Bobby Bowden belonged to the Metro Conference which it joined in 1976......playing teams out of state was just part of what Bowden saw was a necessity to obtain some sense of nationally recognition.....I want to say say in fact it was the win over Nebraska in Norman that was the key stone win for the FSU program to establish the program on the national level.....where former Sarasota Sailor Paul Piurowski forced a fumble to preserve the win over Nebraska in the early 80's.......both schools eventually joined bigger conferences in the 90's, that at that point limited opportunities to schedule games against premier college programs......was why in part when FSU joinned the ACC, Gators joked about it being the "ALL Coast Clear" conference because the meat of FSU regular season schedule was made up of teams that at that point weren't premier programs on the football field. But in as far as recruiting, all three programs recruited beyond the borders of the state of Florida in the 60's, 70's, 80's etc........in fact Florida's 1st Heisman trophy winner isn't even from the state of Florida......think about that for a moment!
  4. Dont know anything really about Cocoa, but the loss to Riverview tells me all I need to know about this Venice team's lack of elite physicality on the line of scrimmage this year. You have a backup QB that couldn't start at Manatee or Plant City, but yet he's managed to do just that this year for Venice at different points this year. My guess is, if Dollacosta is the least bit still injured or Peacock worries about re-injuring him Friday night against Cocoa, Peacock saves him for next week against Manatee for the District Championship......because the Venice offense is limited big time with Overstreet at QB. Same with Taylor at RB, if he's still out Friday night.....Venice doesn't have a chance against Cocoa........I say neither plays because Peacock wants them healthy for next week against Manatee.....Cocoa 31 Venice 21
  5. During the 80's and early 90's Manatee and Lakeland met on a fairly regular basis, and I cant recall one game where I felt the officiating was corrupt..............now if your talking about Lakeland having to later forfeit games, on multiple occasions.....that would be a subject that would have some merit to the charge...............
  6. Jambun82 = SGT Friday (in this video substitute COP for referee )
  7. I always hated going to Plant City in the 80's when they were in Manatee's District, for the very same reason.....the home cooking was terrible..............particularly if the score was close.
  8. 8A-R1 Orlando Evans lost 31-20 to Lake Mary 8A-R1 Deland beat West Port 44-7 (West Port is now 1-6, so this win not likely to help the Deland RPI much this coming week) 8A-R3 PB Central beat Forest Hill 41-21 (Good win as Forest Hill has a winning record) 8A-R-3 Monarch lost to Boca Raton 38-14 7A-R1 Buchholz lost to Fletcher 41-17 7A-R-3 Lakewood Ranch lost to Venice 49-6 5A-R4 Desoto County beat Labelle 28-10 (Labelle is now 2-5, so this win not likely to help Desoto County RPI much)
  9. Guess that means a potential rise or fall in your poll?
  10. What you're doing is what I call classic "stirring the chit", with your method of presentation.............
  11. Evans wins have come against teams with a combined record of 8-21, 4 of those 8 wins came from one team "Oviedo", they have tuff district games the next 2 weeks which they potentially could lose both.........but would also help them with their over-all strength of schedule too if they win them. For them I say the next 4 weeks are key for them and qualifying for the playoffs.
  12. OldSchool You do realize that Lakewood Ranch hasn't played one team with a winning record, and the one game they had against a team with a .500 record, beat them 58-0.............................right? They play Venice this week, who will also beat them like a drum and you want to argue the virtues of them being potentially left out of the playoffs based on a record built up to this point on beating teams with a collective record of 3-24?

  17. Marietta's had some good teams, some that have advanced beyond the 2nd round of the playoffs in the last 10 years. I believe Marietta actually has a number of D-1 players this year on its squad. But around Atlanta the real strength of Georgia HS football resides in Gwinnett County. Yeah you have some schools down south.....Lowdes, and Colquitt County come immediately to mind and when Jeff Herron was at Camden County his teams were regularly right there in the thick of things.......... Its too bad but I think this year STA and Lakeland are probably Florida's only 2 elite football teams......its just the reality of the way things are......again this year. Last year there were probably 2-3 more teams you could have added to that list. The Colquitt homer can run his mouth all he wants, but the reality for him is that last 2 years Colquitt rolled into the state title games as heavy favorites and got beat both times.......last year by Milton HS........Maybe because he's had nothing to brag about inside of GA, he finds some sense of satisfaction in gloating over the success GA teams have had beating Florida teams.......interesting however it usually about beating Florida schools that are just good...............not elite
  18. The 1st FAQ sheet the FHSAA published on its website, initially indicated it would be posted at 2:30pm Tuesday after week 6, its since been amended to be date specific on 10/8/19.
  19. If I didn't know better, I'd swear you were a woman.................you debate just like one................just an observation
  20. You just keep on exposing yourself as well as putting your over-all lack of understanding of the state of HS football in Florida on display for everyone to see. You do realize that since 2015, the district Palmetto competes in has had a team from that district either play to the semis or win the state title............of course you knew that.....................So tell me about Lake City's district and how terrific its depth is, in as far as representing deep into the playoffs over the last few years? I'm not a Palmetto homer, I've actually been very vocal about my dislike for the Palmetto HBC..................but I also recognize when a group of young men come together to play the team sport of football at a high level...............compounded by some pretty good coaching!......you had Palmetto at 39 this past week, obviously you've not done your homework!
  21. Carry on as you were, my little man....................I believe this video, maybe more specifically the 1st 30 seconds might better explain where I am with you.......moving forward.....
  22. Saying, there are certain types of "Homers" that after time come off as almost delusional..........."Baghdad Bob" type delusional. That's okay because, it takes every kind of people to make the world go round, but you personally have been elevated to the role of moderator on this message board....................with that role comes a certain amount of restraint that should be practiced, that wouldn't be expected from a day to day message board poster......you're the one that should always remain above the fray. The reality about 6A.....................1st Columbia needs to get past the second round.................2nd The northern region of 6A isn't extremely strong, the team coming out of the southern region will probably be the odds on favorites to win it all. Madison lost last week to a Lakewood team that while extremely athletic, I found to be not all that well coached. Madison is a game Columbia should win, based on its over-all depth alone. You got Lee left on the schedule which should be for the District Championship..............Palmetto and Central are teams I don't believe Columbia could beat at this point.........................so let's let this thing play its self out...............for Columbia lets try making it out of the 2nd round, then we can consider the possibilities of a region title.............
  23. I'm a bit of a homer when it comes to Manatee, so having some bit of restraint on my part when encountering other homers goes without saying. Just wondering how long its been since Lake city last won a state title?
  24. Hard to say at this point, because there also remains some serious issues along the OL that have negatively impacted the running game with or without Franks at the QB position. I've seen instances of poor technique as well as instances where it appears the OL is just flat out being beat from a physical standpoint. Gotta believe if Mullen felt Franks wasn't his best chance at winning games, Trask or Jones would already have been starting. So for me my concern isn't so much with who's starting at QB, but if the OL starts showing some significant improvement with its play?
  25. 6 months short of 40 years, started basically right after I graduated HS on 6/10/78 and started my 1st night at the Sarasota PO 1/27/1979..................the message board was a saving grace in as far allowing me a connection to Florida HS football when I transfered to Georgia, I cant even remember how I stumbled on it.....I want to say it was around 2004 or 2005 or around the time Joe came back to coach Manatee again.
