Lakeland is coming out of this region without a doubt.  They would be the favorites in any given year but the region is down this year so their path is pretty easy this year.  However, they may find a couple teams put up a fight rather than lay down.  Mitchell in their opener may hang around until the third quarter before ultimately losing by 14+.

Already landed on my feet. In less than 4 hours I found a new home! Wont be the head coach, but titles do not mean much to me anyway. I know I can make a difference where ill be coaching. 

Chaminade has been for weeks the #1 overall seed regardless of class.  If you look at the new rankings in the FHSAA website, they were leapfrogged today by Cocoa as the new #1 seed overall regardless of classification, moving CMD to #2.  Happy for Cocoa although in a head-to-head I would have to put my money on Chaminade. 

Nothing worth doing in life is easy! Go Kowboys! Get the upset!

Lakewood Ranch edged Charlotte for the 8th seed seemingly overnight. I was almost certain Charlotte was going to make it, smh. Lakewood Ranch @ Venice next week instead. 

At 10 am it will become official, barring any unexpected formula quirks, that Palm Harbor University wins it's first ever district championship in the school's 27 year history.  I predicted this four years ago on this board when I saw the group of kids moving into the PHU system that had played youth ball together for years.  They are a very close knit team and have been friends and teammates for years so there was no possibility of East Lake, Clearwater or anyone else poaching from the team this year.  Keeping the team together was the key to finally breaking through and winning a title.  I'm so happy for these kids.  Also, PHU could be good for a while because they return a lot of key players next year and the JV team moving up was 7-0 and destroyed every opponent.  It's nice to see a have-not team finally get to feel success.

The top 10 posters will be seeded, and then the top 8 posters after the 1st round will move on to the 2nd round, and we will keep cutting off the bottom 2 until there are 2 posters left for the state championship games. In the case of a tie, the higher seed advances. These are the seeds. Please let me know if you intend on playing.

Yes. Separate the private schools and there would be less "super teams" on the public school level. Open transfers are right up there with super teams. Makes it a whole lot easier to compete with AHP, STA, Cardinal Gibbons,etc., and it would be a lot less necessary if the private school powers are out on their ass and competing in their own league (they don't need to be part of the FHSAA).
On the public school side, certain teams will always be good because of community support and demographics. But if teams don't have to gear up to try and play recruited up juggernauts like STA and the like, I think you'd see a lot less of the super team on the public school end. 

VB definitely has talent. You could see moments of great talent on offense and defense. If I'm the coach, I'm at practice yelling "Finish your plays".

Wanted to see Vero win and thought they would have enough offense to do it after watching them play Martin County. Having 2 losses to two tough opponents, (might?) help them in the playoffs, but I think Deland would have to be favored over them on merit if that is their round 1 opponent.
