Go to their projection link... at the top says projection accuracy for 2022
    http://calpreps.com/2022/projection_accuracy.htm
Their model has projected 1288 Wins and lost 249 for 83.8%
Their national pre game projections of games this year is 35,143- 6892 for 83.6%
The model is phenomenal... it is based on point spread which increases greatly how well they can pinpoint wins and losses... the FHSAA model takes out the most important piece of the accuracy of power ratings

The Strength is legit just the rating of each of that teams' opponents added together and divided by the number of games played. I have been working on cracking the formula quite a bit and have figured out a few things a long the way.
This may be public knowledge and I just never knew but Maxpreps, rating and Strength numbers are exact mirror copies of whatever Calpreps posts. So Calpreps computers do the work, maxpreps uses those numbers as their ratings. Calpreps may I add does a phenomenal job. Whatver the formula is they use is pretty damn good as nearly all state games are predicted at 82% or better.

We are in a tight race with Dr. Phillips and Olympia for the last 2 playoffs spots in 4m 2. I predicted using what I thought was the formula within a couple tenths of a point this week. The issue is I still cannot for the life of me figure out exactly what they are using and being a couple tenths off this coming week means playoffs or no playoffs.
I really do not understand the logic of not sharing the formula. Even share it on maxpreps pages so it generates traffic and advertising. Have a what if calculator and get 100 million new clicks with bored coaches and fans trying to see how they can get in.

There is no doubt in my mind the current formula is a bit wonky because you can't just remove point spread from a beautiful computer formula that uses point spread heavily in their formula and expect a pretty picture.

We are a 6 seed per maxpreps, who mind you is the same company that does the FHSAA rankings but with the FHSAA we are not in the playoffs at this moment.
This is why I wish they would give us the formula so we could see how things are being done so we can say, hey that makes sense... it is a pretty good tool. When the group that has us as a 6th seed, also ranks us as a 9th seed using whatever the different formula is... it is a bit tougher to swallow
I do respect the FHSAA is trying to make things more fair and more balanced so the right teams get in and the better teams get chances to host even if their district was brutal. It is a bit disheartening however that we are left to sit until Sunday without knowing how to figure out if we are in or not but hoping and having faith the numbers have all been entered correctly.

    Followed up with Robbie Lindeman
All games are going to be included. Any game not played on the 4th will have to be approved to be played on the 5th. This may delay the rankings.

While I am not philosophically opposed to a ranking system there are two big problems with what we are currently doing:
    1. An overall lack of transparency.
    2. A lack of confidence in Max Preps' ability to provide accurate data and, hence, rankings that are reliable.
Unless these are addressed, reverting to the old system with larger districts seems to be the fairest, most common sense solution.

Agreed fully. Just cap the MoV. If you hit a running clock you've reached the maximum it matters for MoV. So cap it at 35. So racking up 70 on someone doesn't benefit the team but 35 tells you there was a gap in talent in that game

He have the same issue. We did not get off to the start we hoped at 2-3 currently. Maxpreps has us 6th in 4m Region 2 but fhsaa has us 15th in the region. Our SOS on maxpreps is like a 16.1 and a rating of 18  but FHSAA our SOS is a 1 and rating a -1.7... to make it more interesting... 2-4 Plant City, who has 1 more loss than us and lost to us by 40 is rated higher than us on FHSAA. I asked the FHSAA and maxpreps to please provide some clarity how this is possible. FHSAA ignored the email and maxpreps sent me their generic link on how ratings work... answered nothing.

The FHSAA needs to do better. We are hoping to push for a 6-7-8 spot and have no clue how numbers are even being used or what things are based on. It is an issue.

A big congratulations to Apopka. Wonderful venue and great hosts.  Much love to all and good luck in the Championship. We gave you all we had but unfortunately we didn't have our best night when we needed it. Obviously it didn't end how we had hoped but we very proud of our young men and their relentless effort and dedication this year. Academic State Champions for 8a for the 3rd year in a row and a state semifinalist run. Outstanding student-athletes. Love to our wonderful senior group who left the program better than they found it and for setting a new bar for our young guys to claw for

As a Dr. Phillips football alum, I was hoping for a chance to make the trip back to Dr. Phillips so my kiddos could see where their pops played (now that they are a little older) and have a chance to coach against some of my former teammates and buddies. Instead, we will have our first meeting as a program with Osceola. The 1 memory that has been etched in my mind since 1999 about Osceola... This may be a little dramatized but this is how I remember it.
In 1999 we at Dr. Phillips had a massive match up with defending 5a state champ Osceola and their superstar running back Willie Green. We knew he was a stud but figured we have seen similar backs in Alex Haynes from Evans. Fast forward to my first series against them. I great read on a screen to than running back and state record holder Willie Green. I came up full speed knowing that I was going to knock him silly... between my speed and strength and a perfect read on the play, I was primed for a highlight hit on the states best back. As he turned and saw me coming,  he yelled "RED LIGHT"...time stopped. Willie's eyes got big and as I stood there frozen. He looked me deep in the eyes and said "please don't do this to yourself man." I felt bad but was wondering why he misspoke and said "to yourself" because I was about to lay him out. Willie looked at me and said, I am sorry. I was confused.  I noticed him smile... he snapped his fingers and said GREEN LIGHT. I stood there confused but decided not to take his advice and went in shoulder first against the states leading running back. As I soared backwards through the air, I noticed how wonderful air was and how lucky we are to have it. As I hit the Earth, I couldn't help but notice Willie had a piece of gum stuck to the bottom of his cleats. As I tried to stop him and let him know, he seemed to really not like the idea of gum on his shoe because he used my stomach to try to get the gum off his shoe. I did not realize he and I were making a trade...he gave me his gum and in return took every ounce of air I thought I owned. I searched the ground for any air I could find as I watched the man they called "Smoke" zoom to the end zone for a touchdown. After the game he was very humble and apologized and asked me if I was able to find some air anywhere. I did. I am reminded of him and Osceola every time I look at my forever mark on the side of my stomach.

This Friday I'd like to replace that memory with Steinbrenner's First Regional Title. GO WARRIORS!
