Most jobs dont require you to take homework home and grade papers and make lessons and then take classes to recertify and then take classes to try to earn a real wage either by getting a masters.  Plus alot of teachers coach and get paid very little for alot of work. A assistant fb coach usually gets around 3k for the following work. Spring ball 20 practices and 5 days for  conditioning. 4 days a week lifting in summer, 7 on 7 practices and tournament from Jan -April and then in summer again. Practice from august to mid November unless you make a run and go till December. If teaching is  such a great pay gig and easy job then why are 1 in 5 teachers leaving the profession or state to teach somewhere else.

10 1/2 month contract for a new teacher is growing to 47k this year. You're "technically off" during those 1 1/2 months but there is training, pre-planning, etc. It isn't a full workload, but there is some unpaid work. Not to mention the unpaid work they do during the school year.

While I acknowledge that students can often tell who the good, bad and average teachers are, I don't think it's feasible (or even a good idea!) to base teacher pay on a poll of students. Many students may well give a reasonable and accurate review of their teachers, but some may be less than reasonable or honest. Teachers who bribe their kids are going to fare the best often.
And so if that's out, you're back to test scores. I'm a believer in tests and data analysis! But, again, there are myriad factors which can affect not only overall scores, but also rates of improvement/decline that are out of control of the teachers. The problem is there's no shortage in students sitting in classrooms they do not want to be in. Teaching is one of the only -if not the only- professions where the job rating of professionals is based on the performance of children who often resent being there in the first place.
All I said is that anyone claiming the evaluation of teachers is *easy* is revealing their ignorance. It may be possible, but it is not easy or simple.

He's a high school sports fan. Kind of like me. I watch the super bowl, and the National Championship college game, and, if UCF is having a really good year, I may attend a home game as my wife is an alum. But aside from that, I watch High School sports, especially football. I guess it's because it used to reflect the game at its purest, where the great majority of the participants will end their careers when they graduate.
Unfortunately, it has lost much of its purity over the past 25 seasons.

Horrible. So South Florida supplies most of the teams and has to drive 7 hours to play.

Yeah, tough to get a final list here. I see you have Columbus ranked above both Norland and Homestead, who although they both lost their title games, both beat Columbus. I'd argue, not while Columbus was at their best, but Homestead beat us pretty bad. Hard to square that. I agree that Berkeley should be higher but I really don't know who you should move around to make that happen. FWIW Maxpreps has BP in their top 25 now with Central and Norland mid 30's. Columbus is like 50.
I think most teams in the top 15 there could almost all best one another on any given Friday with the exception of Nade.

I want to take a moment to acknowledge one of the most important figures in Lakeland football history who's never gotten any credit from anyone under 40, or who started paying attention to Lakeland football post 2003.
Bill Galloway. He was the OL coach who developed the "Beefaloes" tradition, which is what made Lakeland into the power-running team that goes a long way to explain their sustained success. Galloway left, I believe, after the 2003 season to move to Tennessee. He was with Castle for roughly 20 years. And, when he was there, I can tell you he was almost Coach 1B to Castle's 1A. Castle's offenses in the early years were known for being balanced- they produced a QB who held the NCAA completion percentage for a time (Wayne Peace at Florida).  Galloway's influence probably helps explain the shift to run-dominant offenses in the 1990s. Lakeland won three state titles with Galloway being a crucial part of the staff, and I think his mark carried over to the teams that proceeded his exit. There were some other long-time coaches who deserve credit as well. But, Galloway was a towering figure who functioned almost like a co-head coach with Castle. Lakeland ran for over 1100 yards in two (2) playoff games, mostly from under center, and without a hurry-up approach. The Lakeland tradition of power football, which inspires players today, owes a lot to Galloway.

Well, I'm saying that BP winning 2M is the big upset. That involved beating both the undefeated Dade champs AND AH on the road. So, I'm counting both wins in that.

Nobody gave Berkley a chance? didn't you see @DarterBlue2predict this potential upset? I happened to agree with him.
    Congrats on the win.
Salty? We are state champs. Again. LOL.
I stand by it. Norland was not the 11th best team in the country, And after beating AHP at home, Berkley should have been top 30.
I granted you it was an upset. But after beating AHP at their place one could hardly say this was one of the greatest in history. But whatever. Fantastic finish given the improbable start.

Would not call this the one of the biggest upsets in HISTORY.  While I didn't know anything about Berkeley until this year, I have been saying Norland - while solid, is a bit over hyped. I know they notched some big wins over some big programs this season, but tbh they won against BTW, Central, and Columbus when all three teams had lost their starting QB. And I know beating Central twice was def something not to overlook - but I been hard on Central too ever since they played a great game against BG.
Not saying I called this upset, but Norland is in no way the #11 team in the nation.
Congrats to Berkeley and great season Norland.

Berkeley driving 4 hours South to beat state top 5 AHP at their house was impressive, then driving 4 hours North to beat another state top 5 team was even more impressive!!!!

Berkeley earned this title. This wasn’t a case of better teams choking. This was a case of Berkeley executing their game plan to perfection and wanting it more

definitely wouldn’t qualify This as one of the biggest upsets. Berkeley beat American Heritage the week before who has a much better pedigree the Norland.

Both teams looked like state champions and the better team won.  The Mendoza kid seemed to get the read option right every single time and though RB's may have not gained the yardage they are used to, he certainly made up for it.  Congrats to your Explorers for a tremendous performance.  To think Mandarin will have the Jones kid for another year certainly bodes well for them.
