They look like a decent freshman team or a below average junior varsity team.

Dillard could put a running clock on them with no practice, no coach, and no playbook.

Lmao lol hopefully they don’t try that this week.

    Dillardboyz,

I kind of blew it last week by not coming down to hang out with you to watch Dillard play.  What is your intel on Suncoast?

We’re new district foes last year was the first year we were in a district with them. We beat them 56-0 last year with a freshman back up qb after our starter went down.

this year our offense is way more explosive, 4* qb , we’re at home. Anything less then 50-0 I would be concerned. VERY lol.

So I don’t go off computer projections.

And AHP beat SJP who would be top 5 in FL. And they played one score games with Chaminade and Karr. Chaminade is top 5 in FL and Karr would probably be top 10. And they had Central on the ropes before Central showed why they are top 2 in state.

So AHP played 4 games with top 2-7 type state ranked teams and were competitive and played on even terms with all of them.

So understanding the human element and what my eyes tell me, I can confidently say AHP is a top 7 team.

And if you want to go with computers, Miramar isn’t even top 100 in Florida. And that sounds about right. And Dillard played a virtual draw and needed a miracle to win. So it tells me that Dillard is close in strength to Miramar. These are similar teams. Dillard is getting the benefit of playing a bad schedule. So their record is what makes everything look good, but the result against a bad team like Miramar is too glaring to ignore.

And I don’t take stock into that rivalry stuff only because plenty of times teams blow their rival out. Dillard lost 50-0 one year to Ely.

Dillard needing a miracle to win is a bit of a stretch bro lol. Needing a miracle is like a Hail Mary attempt or something. We did what great teams do which is adjust and handle business in the second half. We can’t use computer rankings for some and not for others. Miramar record is 1-4 but the talent on their team is way better than that. They just so happen to play a solid ass schedule to start the season. McArthur and Mater both have revamped rosters from last year full of transfers. That’s not gonna show on maxpreps rankings because maxpreps is computer generated with no real knowledge on teams year to year.

Thats like Dillard going toe to toe with heritage in the 2nd round last year AT heritage, leading nationally ranked heritage 14-0 at halftime being the ONLY TEAM to hold them scoreless in the first half all year , giving heritage their toughest playoff game of all of last year.

Hell Dillard didn’t get no credit for that. Why because in a lot of minds yea yall played it close but u didn’t win. So if that’s the case if you play 3 good teams and u lose all 3 to the masses standards that mean you’re not a good team because a good team would find a way to win atleast one of them.

down here in broward if you a played a tough schedule and you’re (1-3) after 5 weeks they’ll tell you str8 up “YOU NOT LIKE DAT” meaning you NOT for real. So let that be the standard for everyone lol

I don’t punish teams for losing to elite teams. Especially if the game isn’t a blowout. However I do punish teams who barely beat bad teams ;)

Another example. DILLARD , we played against Miramar Saturday. That’s a HUGE rival game. And every year the game comes down to the wire. That’s something to take into heavy consideration.

yes Miramar record was (1-3) now (1-4) but their defense is very good, and we also gotta remember all of these are kids who all have 1 goal: “Making it out” , coaches who job maybe on the line. Miramar came out fighting like hell to save their season. With nothing but pride on the line. Dillard and Miramar have played the last 7 consecutive years. Crosstown rivals if you will. Like Dillard & Ely, when Miramar and Dillard play, bragging rights are on the line, record goes out the window.  And we also have to take in account who they lost to. They lost to a 4-1 creek team, a 5-0 mater team whose loaded with transfers, they also lost a McArthur team loaded with transfers. Even then they only gave up on avg 17ppg.

I said all that to say , to many times we move the goal post and make exceptions/ excuses for certain team depending on who they’re and their history, when the same guidelines needs to be the same for every team.

another example JONES: if we’re going off of keeping a team ranked off close loses to solid schools and no excuse for a Team struggling with a “bad team” then jones should be banned from the top 25 after losing to Evan’s as 26 point favorites lol. Then they turned right around and lost to edgewater as 10 point favorites.

Ehhh it’s a Fine line With that Brodie lol. It’s to many variables that can play a part. If you ask me you’re what your RECORD says You’re. A LOST IS A LOST there’s no keeping it close category in a win or lost column.

but now if we’re gonna go there then let’s hold every team to that standard.

for example AMERICAN HERITAGE: they came in as 21 point favorites vs st Joseph’s prep. That weekend st Joseph’s came in ranked #95 nationally vs American heritage top 20 nationally ranked. The patriots were down 28, before the head and humidity got to the visiting team and the home team took advantage and mounted the comeback. But as far as the “rankings” are concerned the fact heritage was down 28 to begin with is alarming enough, then they went on to lose their next 3 games. I’m sorry that’s not a good thing. History and mystique aside.

Great game! Very nice facility, great band, and good crowd. Nice comeback by Dillard. Miramar had a chance to put the game away up 17-7 but decided to get cute by going to the air after having a first down deep in Dillard territory, and Dillard made them pay for it. Then they compounded that by going for it on 4th and 1 from their own 29 late in the game. I would have punted that away and put it in the hands of the defense. Dillard made the stop and got into the end zone and that was it. The traffic this afternoon wasn't bad at all and we stopped at Fran's Chicken Haven in Boca for an early supper before going on. Had some good conversation while waiting for the gate to open with a Dillard alum who was in from Texas. Really enjoyed it, and we'll be back again someday.

Why you didn’t text me bro I was there since the tailgate , I would’ve walked you through and gave you some Dillard history.

in regards to this game Dillard showed me a lot tonight facing a desperate team whose giving everything they have tonight to save their own season, getting punched in the mouth for the first time all year & faced with a decision on do you Lay down or do you FIGHT & PREVAIL. This is exactly how the playoffs gonna be, anyone can look like world beaters when they haven’t been tested. And tonight we got our test.

we had 10 balls down on offense 3 of those would’ve went for TDS, Miramar is very big in the trenches and made it known they were running their way to a possible victory, they only had 50 yards passing so they knew they couldn’t beat us in the air , what a HELL OF A GAME

  8. MAN OH MAN!!! What a hell of a game. First half didn’t go the way we wanted Miramar came out DESPERATE! Fighting for their season , before this game I said Miramar defense was extremely solid and boy did they NOT disappoint. Their trenches are HUGE! They ate us up with the run designs in the first half.

dillard first drive ended up in a turnover on downs at Miramar 10 yard line, after that Miramar had the momentum, throughout the game Miramar had 10 batted down balls. YES 10!! 3 of those passes would have been touchdowns if not batted down. But like I told the coaching staff either back Chico (THE QB) up or put him under center.

My panthers was down 17-7 in the 4th qt with 7 min to go. 7 minutes left to either GIVE UP OR FIGHT! 7 min to either Tap into your championship DNA or show the world you don’t have it.

and 2 4th and 1 stops later & some huge plays made down the stretch my panthers sit here (5-0)! WOW JUST WOW!!

A great game.  A lot of fun.  AHP is a beautiful cozy stadium but come on.  The seating capacity is too small.  I didn’t use the restroom but my buddy said it was incredibly small and half the scoreboard didn’t work.  During the 1st half  the academic accomplishments were read over the PA.  They are extremely impressive.  I was waiting for the old cheer “Ooo ooo eh eh we do better on the SAT!”.

AHP played a terrific first half.  WR Jeffar Jean-Noel had a big first half scoring the first TD due to a busted coverage.  Just when you were beginning to think Central was never going to get their act together, in the second quarter they get a safety and a TD return on subsequent plays so it’s Central up 9-7.  Then the Rockets use a 3 man rush with passive zone coverage that allowed AHP to march down the field to make it 14-9 right before halftime.

In the 2nd half, AHP made it 21-9 while looking like the superior team.  Anyone that has followed Central over the years knows they can catch fire to turn the game around quickly and that they did.  QB Anthony McQueen, who struggled all game, finally settled down to play brilliantly.  After overthrowing receivers all night he found his groove. It was all Rockets from then on which led to the 31-21 victory.

This game played out similar to the Chaminade loss for AHP.  They were the better team for most of the game but not able to finish in the fourth quarter.  AHP‘s defensive backs who were stellar in the first half started to get beat by the speedy Rocket receivers.  If Central is to beat Miami Northwestern, they are going to need to put together a better complete game.

Agree with everything you said, I was at the game. Central found success when they started getting pressure on the qb , also if you can stop the patriots run and get some pressure on them in 3rd and long you can beat them.

1-3 is 1-3 , yes the national games they play be competitive throughout but when the dust settle this is their 3rd str8 lost. Heritage should not be ranked nationally or in the top 25 in Florida

I have that on my schedule.  Plan on buying my ticket as soon as they go on sale and be in line well before they open the gates.  I’ll sit on the Rockets side because I became a fan of their’s after the 2010 state final against Haha Clinton-Dix and his Dr. Phillips Panthers.  I like MNW as well but my heart is with Central.

Dam bro you to good to come to exit 29 sunrise blvd for a game. Been up and down 95, and cross country to Ireland and China and still won’t pay them panthers a visit …sheesh make me think you don’t wanna see the nicest public school football field and the best band I. Florida atleast 1 time. :Dlol.

just joking with you bro: that’s a great game to attend, if it wasn’t on the same day as the BIGGEST GAME in Florida the SOUL BOWL with Dillard and ely I would have most definitely gone as well.

As the good Dr. pointed out in the thread below and I have said since the beginning of the season, these early season rankings are truly flawed and we both encourage you to ignore them.  What is more important, early season rankings that are flawed or winning playoff games after the first two rounds?  It's what I refer to making a lot of NOISE during the season to sadly leave with a whimper.  I also honestly said I think we are currently overrated due to last year's success while being overlooked last year due to our 4-7 record the previous year overlooking the devastating injuries to several D1 players during that season that were back to full strength last year.   Looking down the road, you should have running clock victories in the first two playoff rounds like we did last year as District 13 & 14 (4A) outside of Dillard only has one other team with even a pulse.   Once we got to the Regional Championship round where the pretenders are gone, no one (including yourself) gave us a chance to beat Armwood at their place and how did that go.  Same with the next round vs Bucholz.  Point being, talk is cheap so let your success at the end of the road do your talking.

I’m with you when you right bro.

  12. 2 hours ago, Ray Icaza said:

Sir, you are spot on highlighting Dillard's Strength of Schedule.  Of the top 50 in MaxPreps, 49 of them have a positive rating like +20, +30, +40  etc.. while Dillard is the sole team making this group with a minus number (-2).  Arguing Dr. Phillips is a statement game assumes the strength of teams in the Orlando area.  I would argue that the entire group of better teams aren't nearly as good as they were last year for whatever reasons.  I do understand Dillard's frustration as I felt that way last year and proved to be right making it all the way to the state final.   So, my advice to them is to keep their powder dry and make a VERY deep run into the playoffs for your justification.  Don't confuse me thinking you shouldn't be ranked higher as I know nothing about your team and unless I saw them play I can't make an honest assessment.  As others have rightfully pointed out, the remainder of the schedule is also weak including district games so win out (10-0) and you will easily qualify for the playoffs.  That my friend is the time to make NOISE, because now means nothing.

I respect your opinion bro & you know it’s all love. Now with that said. You mentioned us beating dr.phillips, questions how good is Orlando team. And as I mentioned up top from.Philips was 20 point faves so obviously they thought really highly of them, until they got punched in the mouth on game day.

HELL JONES vs EVANS , evans beat jones and immediately sky rocketed. BOTH jones & DR Phillips made it to the state semis or further last year.

all im saying is if rankings gonna be posted, actually look at film, no what the rosters looking like. Dont just rank teams off name and popularity , which is what I feel a lot of ranking pages do. Especially the north Florida , central Florida posters . If it’s not CENTRAL, STA, AHP, CHAMINADE, they do ZERO homework on getting to know the other teams down here, teams that are dam good. But because they don’t pass the “NAME CHECK” they get no love.

lastly like I stated up top, we can go back and forth all day about Dillards LACK OF toughness in their schedule this year. But again Norland came in ranked this year fresh off losing their ALL STAR qb to graduation, a plethora of skill position players, they have 2 LOSES already in this young season & was BLOWN OUT BY 20+ last week & their STILL RANKED top 5 in 4A ? WHY!? is it cuz of name ? , if we’re going off LAST YEAR. Dillard went toe to toe with heritage in the playoffs , norland was BLOWN OUT, So by that matrix , shouldn’t Dillard who not only kept their last years team intact but Also ADDED & got better ; shouldn’t they be ranked high as well? I’m just saying make it make sense lol.

  13. 1 hour ago, Dr. D said:

I don’t pretend to speak for Josh (or anyone else), but Josh’s FPRI ranking “applies a proprietary formula factoring in Opponent Strength Index (OSI), average margin of victory, and an overall performance rating to generate accurate, unbiased rankings”.  Just as the LAZINDEX, Colley Method, MaxPreps, and the FHSAA Power Rankings place variables into a weighted formula to derive a numerical rating.  Opinion-based factors, "the eye test”, and other subjective observations are not part of computer rankings.  So, computer rankings are, in fact, blind (and some would argue, delusional).  In Dillard’s case, don’t be surprised if they are not in the top 5 of 4A in the FHSAA rankings when they come out next week.  Objectively, their marshmallow-soft schedule is hurting them in the computer rankings.  The real issue is relying on MaxPreps' top-secret computer rankings to select and seed playoff teams, but everyone seems okay with that.

I get it, but in that case how do we speak for the week 1 win vs Orlando power Dr Phillips. Laz index had Dr Phillips as 20 point favorites only for them to lose by 39. Dr Phillips has also went on to destroy every opponent they’ve faced after losing to us. If the win over 7A Dr Phillips was an “UPSET” that alone should have us top 5 In 4A , No??

and as @Perspective was saying if this numbers are being based off popularity or what did you do for me last year. Dillard went 8-2 in the regular season, went on the road in the first round vs undefeated John Carroll Catholic as 13 point underdogs and beat the breaks off them.

we traveled to AHP in the 2nd round as 28 point underdogs & was up 14-0 on American heritage at the half, the only opponent to hold the patriots scoreless in the first half, ALL OF LAST YEAR, we led the patriots 14-10 with 5 minutes left to go. Untilmatley losing 24-14. Where as norland in round 3 was blown out with their star Qb, heritage coaches even said Dillard was their toughest opponent in the playoffs. But yet NORLAND is still in the TOP 5 even tho they lost a lot & lost two games, one in blowout fashion this year, whereas Dillard Got even better. Like make it make sense.

  14. I don’t know if these computer rankings are blind or just delusional. HOW IN THE WORLD is Dillard not even in the Class 4A TOP 10 let alone top 5. Dillard is the ONLY team in 4A that gave heritage their TOUGHEST playoff battle last year. the ONLY team that held American heritage scoreless in the first half, And Got even BETTER this year.

norland graduated their top QB last year. They gave up a 20 point lead to lake Mary who just got curb stumped 51-3 by Raines last week. Miami norland also just got curb stumped by northwestern last week to fall to 2-2. Tough opponent or not you either won or you lost.

Amercian heritage is still 1-2 even tho they lost to consecutive games. Again tough opponent or not , close lost or not,  they still lost (1-2) is still (1-2).

jones - jones is still in despite BACK TO BACK losses, one lost was against Evan’s who was 22 point underdogs, it was against a Evan’s team who wasn’t even ranked top 200 in Florida , let alone the nation.

I hate to say it, but some of these rankings be giving, the watch no film, they don’t know anything about these teams and where and who they’re year to year. It’s giving ranked by name & popularity Smh. @nolebull813
