  1. Others have attempted to join, but have been denied by the SSAA.
  2. Union County is a solid program with a winning tradition. Chaminade aside, there is still zero chance that Union County is able to keep it close with Trinity Christian, University Christian, CCC, FBA, Trinity Catholic, Benjamin, etc. Much less the other average rural programs that were bumped up to 1A.
  3. I suspect you’ll hear of a few notable smaller programs go independent over the next few weeks, but I’m not sure it’ll be enough to matter.
  4. 3 of the schools they stuck a knife in was Fort White, Union County, & Williston. 3 traditional rural schools that are now in a loaded 1A.
  5. What’s wrong with the rural class? I say just let them be. None of them could make any noise in any other class with what we’re headed back to (maybe Madison/Hawthorne). Since the start of rural in about 2011, it’s actually had good competitive balance. I think 8 different schools have won a state title.
  6. Broward is the 6th largest school district in the nation and you think Columbia getting kids from poor ole santa fe, little ole fort white, & little ole branford puts them on a level playing field with STA? columbia county ≈70k people broward county ≈2 million people i respect your opinion, but if you truly believe they are on a level playing field, then I don’t know what to tell you.
  7. some of these schools are only “Goliath” because they have 20 schools in a 10 mile radius to “attract” kids from. that doesn’t happen in lake city Columbia where there is only 1 school in a 20 mile radius.
  8. how are they punished? if there was a multiplier i wouldn't have as big of an issue going away from metro/suburban as it stands today, metro schools have a big advantage to "attract" talent
  9. ok 6 classes for the entire state. how would you divide each class? all public and privates together? based strictly off enrollment numbers? i am genuinely curious to what you believe is the solution.
  10. long time lurker… would have love to have had rural-smallest 32 teams suburban 1-4 metro 1-4 8 team open division (invitational) yes that is 10 champs but considering the amount of schools the FHSAA represents compared to surrounding states, it would be fine.
  11. Regardless of what is decided, it’ll change again in 2 years.
