  1. That was one of the most bizarre games ever. Lincoln won 17-14 and only gained just over 100yds of total offense. They blocked a punt for a TD and Armwood fumbled like 2-3 times that game. Twice inside the 10yd line. Armwood had TO’s and a bunch of penalties and
  2. I’m not disagreeing with you. Upset is huge. Doesn’t happen often. Crazy thing is, it didn’t take gimmicky plays or a QB throwing for 300+. They had a freshman QB and they threw the ball 6 times this game. They just played bully ball against Dades best!
  3. Sounds about right. This has happened the last three years. Maybe not to this extent but par for the course for Pasco county all star game. Should be the last one they have!
  4. Maybe not one of the biggest in FHSAA history, but certainly a huge upset. Norland is nationally ranked in top 25. Berkeley might have gotten a few votes for top 25 in Florida.
  5. Berkeley scores. 28-13 with a few minutes left…..Wow. Just wow
  6. 21-14 Berkeley about to score again. This is a monumental upset. A 2-loss Hillsborough team about to beat a Dade team who went through a gauntlet. Venice, Central x2, Lakeland, Bolles, and Columbus. Norland simply can not stop Berkeley’s run game. Did not expect this
  7. That all makes sense. I’m sure it’s all of the above that have a little to do with the lack of HC schools winning titles. Population boom on the east side of the county and the numerous schools built. Gate revenue sharing, private schools taking players, Weiner and Callahan leaving, etc. good catch on Jesuit in 3M. My mistake. it would interesting to see what public schools Jesuit, CDay, CCC, Tampa Cath, etc pluck from.
  8. That policy make sense. As I know majority of FHSAA schools do that. At least that money is staying within the same school. What Hillsborough does, is take that gate football money, put it in a big pot, and distribute evenly to all the other hillsborough achools. As NoleBull said, how does that motivate schools to draw up big crowds and school spirit?
  9. Exactly…..as you said, that’s how they get a lot of above average teams. And no elite teams anymore.
  10. I believe, and NoleBull can correct me if I’m wrong but, a Hillsborough county team is only permitted ONE out of county game per season. The other nine must be within Hillsborough, unless their district consists of other out of county schools. The other policy is gate revenue is split evenly amongst all the teams. So no matter the attendance, every school gets the same amount of money from gate revenue. This hurts teams like Armwood, Jesuit, Plant etc. who I believe would rather be playing Lakeland, Venice, Orlando, or maybe Miami teams during the regular season but they are stuck to play Leto, King, Lennard etc. Doesn’t help them come playoff time.
  11. I believe each team is allowed one out of County game per year. And they split all the revenue evenly. So Leto, who draws 150 fans a game makes the same gate as Plant, who sometimes will sell out Dads stadium.
  12. Unfortunately I think I agree with you…..NoleBull, what do you think the biggest component is to why not as many Hillsborough teams are competing at the highest level like they once were? Plant, Armwood, Jefferson won state titles in the same season at their peak. I think it’s just too many schools have been built between 1500-2000 capacity.
  13. Gone are the glory days of having multiple championship contenders (in the same and separate classes). Any legit state title contenders this season? 4M- Sumner 3M- Armwood & TB Tech- and considering the south end of the bracket, appearing in the title game would be the goal. Neither of those two teams are beating STA. 2M- Nobody really unless Jesuit comes alive. am I missing anyone? The county really handcuffs themselves with the ridiculous out of county games policy. Not a chance for many big marquee games.
  14. 1:28 left on the clock and cocoa 1st down. STA had one timeout…Mathematically how did STA get the ball back? Cocoa QB took a snap on first down, took three steps back, knelt the ball and one second ran off the clock….we all know what happened. STA homecooking. That was a sham of an ending. I give STA and the officials credit though. They weren’t even hiding it!
  15. Yup. Confirmed he’s out….I’m sure a slew of players will be transferring out during the summer. They aren’t obligated to play the spring game (I believe against Sarasota). Good luck to whoever takes over.
  16. Funny right….even the QB went to Sunlake. He’s not a D1 kid but he’s pretty good. Should have stayed at Lando….transfer works both ways
  17. The Sunlake new school “shine” has kind of worn off now. They have been around for 10+ years now. I believe they are maxed out, so if any new neighborhoods pop up, they will just build another school.
  18. Fine….Greater Tampa Bay Area!!
  19. It’s been one mess after another since Browning left…..The coaches are at fault, of course, but at what point do you question the administrations decision making when hiring? Do they even properly vet these people???
  20. That’s the thing though, TBT did prove otherwise. The have beaten Armwood the last few times they played. So it’s on Armwood to knock them out. Quietly Plant could be a player this year too. Not a state title threat, but a regional final could be on the radar.
  21. Armwood is Armwood. They are always a threat. State title contender, maybe? It will be interesting as it seems they might fly under the radar this season
  22. Tampa Bay Area (no Polk included) could be a toss up this season. Jesuit, TBT, Armwood, CCC, Lakewood, Tampa Catholic, Gaither are all pretty even. I don’t think they’ve got any State title contenders but overall the season should be fun to watch because of the parity….thoughts???
  23. Not to get the subject rolling again but what is the point of a metro/suburb class? 1600 kids in a central Florida school is the same as 1600 kids in south Florida school. Why does the population of the county effect the class of the school? I love your idea of a pyramid. Should have relegation and promotion. Who cares about the size of the county. Basically the FHSAA is saying inner city kids should be in their own class and the suburbs should be in their own class?
  24. Yikes….didn’t realize how bad that district is. Should be a good slaughtering in the playoffs against Tampa Cath, Berkeley, or Lakewood lol
