  1. As I am working on All-State Teams, I am also working on a Top 10 series rating the best players by position groups from the season for eight defined regions. To do this I am looking at a variety of data including stats, strength of schedule, and more. The only thing I do not factor in is recruiting rankings. This is about performance and production on the field. There will be some exceptions along the way with this. Is it perfect? No. However, it provides the opportunity for debate and talk. 2. Specially Fit Academy... some teams dropped them after concerns. But playing 4 games in 14 days is ridiculous and unhealthy especially if the games were not affected by weather.
  3. Today the FHSAA Football Advisory Committee met in Gainesville and a lot of things were discussed with several action items heading to the Athletic Directors Advisory ommittee in a couple of weeks. Read more here: https://floridahsfootball.com/2024/01/11/nil-playoff-rankings-classifications-summer-padded-camps-among-topics-discussed-at-fhsaa-football-advisory-committee-meeting/
  4. I took a stab at it and felt I did pretty well with this but even after putting some factors into my look into who were the Top 10 best prospects Nick Saban had in his 17 years at Alabama, even I was a little stunned, but then that is the name of the game for a lot of things these days. Check it out here: https://floridahsfootball.com/2024/01/11/the-top-10-best-prospects-nick-saban-recruited-from-the-sunshine-state-at-alabama/
  5. After running a survey for a while for coaches to complete and nearly 200 responses, I have published the results of that survey along with a separate article with dozens and dozens of quotes from coaches around the state expressing everything from disgust for the FHSAA to expressing happiness for the recent changes to the classifications. Below are the links to the stories to read: PART I: Coaches are not on board with changes to classifications leaving them unhappy with the FHSAA - https://floridahsfootball.com/2024/01/04/survey-says-part-i-coaches-are-not-on-board-with-changes-to-classifications-leaving-them-unhappy-with-the-fhsaa/ PART II: The best of the best in comments from coaches who completed our survey - https://floridahsfootball.com/2024/01/04/survey-says-part-ii-the-best-of-the-best-in-comments-from-coaches-who-completed-our-survey/
  6. Hey everyone! Spent some time on this since the vote happened last week and I have projected out what the classifications and districts could look like based on the enrollment numbers from the FHSAA. You can read more here: https://floridahsfootball.com/2023/12/19/projecting-out-the-2024-2025-fhsaa-football-classifications-and-districts/
  7. Yes I am behind on updating this...I have been swamped with State Championship coverage... still recovering... three games a day and running up and down the sidelines will wear a person completely out.
  8. The FHSAA Board of Directors has called a special meeting for today at 2 PM ET that will be live streamed virtually via YouTube by the FHSAA regarding the new classification policy that could determine the future of how all team sport classifications will look like in Florida. You can read more about the classification proposal as it is is proposed right by visiting this link: https://fhsaa.com/documents/2023/12/8/Classification_Task_Force_Proposal_BOD_Packet_December_12_2023.pdf In the leadup from 1:45 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. we will discuss what the proposal entails and set the table. At 2:00 p.m. we will tune in to the meeting with everyone else and we will provide our thoughts and commentary as we watch along. We will also take your questions and comments. After the meeting wraps up, we will continue our discussion and thoughts and analysis. Watch 'LIVE' on YouTube, Facebook and X (Twitter) starting at 1:45 PM ET on Tue. Dec. 12, 2023.
  9. Mark Barrett has stepped down at University and Stephen Moffett has left Leesburg. H/T to Andy Villamarzo at SBLive on the Leesburg news. MORE HERE: https://floridahsfootball.com/2023/11/20/coaching-news-university-orlando-and-leesburg-coaches-step-down/
  10. As requested, I have pinned this thread. Got a couple of more changes coming to report of in a moment.
  11. Probably after the regional finals this week once we know which teams are left in the final four. Usually look at the matchups that could draw well vs. those that might not.
  12. My new goal this year... to have information that is worth reading for you all with the Coaches Moving Van.
  13. Appreciate that! Must have went up late this afternoon as I was getting ready for the Buchholz/Ponte Vedra game.
  14. Want to thank @gatorman-uf for the thread he initially started. Going forward for this off-season this will be the official thread in updating when updates are made to the THE ORIGINAL 2024 COACHES MOVING VAN! So far you can find that there are 19 coaching changes with insightful information here: https://floridahsfootball.com/2023/11/17/the-2024-original-florida-coaches-moving-van-keeping-track-of-floridas-high-school-football-coaching-changes/ Also included with the insight info is the number of changes, percentage of schools with changes so far, and coaching records and tenure for each position. Feel free to add replies and more to this as we move along here! 15. I caught your drift there... LOL
  16. Something I knew for a while, but was told to keep quiet on is official now! Bally Sports Florida (previously known as FOX Sports Florida) will air state championship football games again. MORE: https://floridahsfootball.com/2023/11/16/bally-sports-florida-to-air-all-nine-fhsaa-football-state-championship-games/
  17. Here is all the regional semifinal pairings along with links to purchase games for any playoff game in the state along with links to watch dozens of games live on NFHS Network. https://floridahsfootball.com/2023/11/15/fhsaa-regional-semifinal-playoff-pairings-in-the-2023-state-series/ You can also check things out on the Playoff Central page here: https://floridahsfootball.com/playoffs/ PLAYOFF BRACKET LINKS: 4M 3M 2M 1M 4S 3S 2S 1S 1R
  18. And that wouldn't have solved any issues. As @Perspective said, it is just a really big region.
  19. No joke... That trip to Navarre was 369 miles one-way or 738 miles round trip. To Niceville is 331 miles one-way or 662 miles round trip. When its all said and done, Bartram Trail will have traveled 1,400 miles in two weeks. Most playoff teams will not even come close to touching that mileage number.
  20. Disagree here with you NoleBull. It is good to see Plant and Dr. Phillips back to making a run of sorts. Sumner has been building up and Durant... come on now give them some credit. Just because a couple of names aren't traditionally the names we usually hear does not mean some of these can't be starting a path of their own, which they should be. Things cycle. That is a part of life... and football.
  21. Nipping this thread for now... will have The Original Coaches Moving Van going next week and will have an official going forward. Thank you all for understanding!
  22. I will just drop these here... no questions asked... MIC DROP! LOL @nolebull813
  23. Alright, so over the last 48-plus hours since the brackets were released a lot has changed with game dates and kickoff times being switched up a lot of schools. As such, I have been on top of that here. Also I have included direct links to buy tickets for each game that way you don't have to go searching to where buy tickets and live stream links to watch over 50 games on NFHS Network!
